I use a Wacom tablet in place of a mouse (for work, and because I get serious arm pain after about ~30mn of using a mouse) and while it has a “touch ring”, it requires me to let go of the stylus and it’s not very sensitive at all, making for a poor replacement of a mouse wheel. Some time ago I got myself a macropad with big rotary knobs and they do the job, but for years I relied on scrollbars.

Exactly ! this makes the problem potentially millions of times easier, since you know with certainty that every ray fired is going to contribute to the image, whereas firing rays from the light source would guarantee you never see most of them, the processing power is wasted and your image never converges

I’ve just started Snake Pass and it’s a no bullshit old-style puzzle platformer (think PS1 platformers such as Croc, Crash Bandicoot or Rayman) with a unique movement mechanic that feels very chill. There’s little in the way of worldbuilding though

That’s an excellent question and there are so many. The most recent and prevalent has to be “la valeur travail”, the work value or the work virtue I guess are closest -but it really is untranslatable because it is deliberately so fuzzy. The bourgeoisie is trying hard to turn it into a sort of national and personal pride, to sugarcoat labor until people are begging to be let in on it.

In the main quest, last thing I did is I met the heavylifting dude chilling alone in his tiny orbiting station. Tbf I mainly did freeform exploration (going from planet to planet), played for about 20hrs total and got bored repeating the same actions over and over

I’m sure I’m missing most of the story mine and I realize it’s a shame but the strings showing everywhere killed the fun for me. Thanks for the feedback, perhaps some day I’ll pick it up again
