I would love that. The show was done dirty by CBS—I can’t imagine it was the most expensive thing to produce. I am glad season 2 is still coming out and here’s to many more!

there are a lot of factors for me but i feel it, and i think a big part is climate change. i live in new england and it was 60 degreees and raining the other day, pretty hard to get into the holiday spirit when it’s spring outside.

Also, before the goblinos start, yes there are many places where christmas happens in summer, summer type weather, etc, but that is not how it was for me growing up and most of my adult life.

Gonna go out on a limb and suggest you might want to just find yourself an actual therapist because this is a massively unhinged request regardless of what you’re trying to accomplish.

Donebrach,
@Donebrach@lemmy.world avatar

I don’t believe an actual person made this.

I might believe a gen x’er was paid some money by a boomer to create the art and the dialog was filled in by a “the AI.”

If this WAS created by a person then I’d like to see them tried for war crimes.

no one uses hiccough. it’s outdated and dead. Just as in the future no one will use “surewhynotlem” and will instead use the proper and more agreed upon spelling “donebrach”

Been wearing watches for a very long time, and I have no real insight. All I can say is that the Apple Watch is extremely comfortable (using the base strap that comes with it—no idea of others). The part that touches you is very smooth. Prior I wore mechanical watches and honestly never paid them much mind. I will say most “men’s” watches are often overly large and heavy. As a man I have never enjoyed that aesthetic and have always opted for smaller watches (Seriously If someone is so insecure about their gender that they need a fucking tuna can strapped to their wrist i don’t know where to begin).

It’s very important, if you need, to take a short rest to recover some HP at the least or a long rest if you need your party at full fighting potential.

Seems this whole thing is the pedestrian-math-nerd’s equivalent to the pedestrian-grammar-nerd’s arguments on the Oxford comma. At the end of the day it seems mathematical notation is just as flexible as any other facet of written human communication and the real answer is “make things as clear as possible and if there is ambiguity, further clarify what you are trying to communicate.”

based on the ending of the movie, Tom Jane being tried for a multiple homicide I guess. my understanding is the book ends with them just driving into the mist so maybe, uh, them hitting a large boulder the size of a small bolder.

think in the inverse: is a spatula better at serving liquid than a ladle? You’re trying to capture the kinetic energy of a fluid using a sail.

Donebrach,
@Donebrach@lemmy.world avatar

Leave her alone. If you’re so unfamiliar with this person that you’re asking strangers on the internet for “gift” ideas to help with “a rough time” just stop. Whole thing is screaming immensely inappropriate.

Donebrach,
@Donebrach@lemmy.world avatar

Based on that wall of text imma double down on “leave her alone.”

Donebrach,
@Donebrach@lemmy.world avatar

Neat.

Glad I could be of service. Have you considered downloading the Reddit App for more content of unhinged weirdo antagonizes likely spambot (who is who can you tell ???)

And another thing!

Wouldn’t “I never enter port without it.” be a better endorsement?

Why is everything in consumer / American life so fucking shitty now - and companies literally just say 'oh bc profit margins' and we're now expected to swallow that and sympathize?

like I went to taco bell and they didn’t even have napkins out. they had the other stuff just no napkins, I assume because some fucking ghoul noticed people liked taking them for their cars so now we just don’t get napkins! so they can save $100 per quarter rather than provide the barest minimum quality of life features.

Donebrach,
@Donebrach@lemmy.world avatar

Did you ask if they had some napkins? Yes we are living in a post capitalist nightmare but honestly, seems more likely the wage slave in charge of putting out the napkins either hadn’t had a chance to do so or forgot.

been on lemmy.world, accessing via voyager on ios. its basically identical to reddit from an end-user perspective. sure its janky sometimes and content doesn’t get refreshed as frequently as a website that has millions of daily active users but the content is generally more enjoyable and im getting just as much of a dopamine hit of infinite scrolling as i was back in the day, with significantly less annoyance on top.

If it was 2009 I’d say “maybe…” but for fuck’s sake it’s nearly 2024. If someone is legitimately tying to make original content for sale it’s getting posted to YouTube / Twitch / Whatever the Kids are Using, not being burned onto home-made BluRay disks. Also, having a “guy who makes labels” lined up prior to even knowing how to author an optical disk is pretty sus.

in the magic land where suddenly you had mantis shrimp vision and everything else being equal you’d probably just see stuff more or less the same, but probably wouldn’t be able to see coherent information from screens as they are designed to work with human (and recently by proxy) mammalian eyesight (i still don’t think cats and dogs can parse images from CRT displays but they seem to do just fine with LCDs, but that’s just anecdotal… like my entire comment)

there is likely no way to entirely prevent it, but I have been using a sonicare for about nearly 20 years and have had 0 problems with my teeth. I cannot recommend them enough—everyone should have one.

Can an average person who works a full time job become capable enough to rival a secret agent like James Bond or John Wick on their own ?

If so what kind of training they would have to go through ? By training I mean the spatial and situational awareness, combat skills (this is kinda unrealistic), enough knowledge to turn any situation to their advantage etc....

Not even, anyone worth their mall already knows the only step you need to take to achieve this goal is to buy The Katana.

They are not the best shows, but considering how many times I have rewatched them I would have to say all The Next Generation era 80s-90s Star Trek (gonna throw Lower Decks into that lot as well since its around the same time period in the canon).

Also… Deep Space Nine might actually be the best show… but maybe not.

the rotors of most windmills are on a rigging that allowed them to rotate to face the direction of the predominant wind at any given moment, thus the phrase “always facing the wind.” it’s not anything mind blowing or incredible.

Could feral chicken take over the Amazon ?

Feral chicken are known in several places. They can be pretty successful and have been signaled as threats to ecosystems and crops in archipelagos like Hawaii and Bermuda. But I’ve thinking about Brasil: Given the sheer amount of chicken being bread there, the presence of the Amazon rainforest, which has a similar climate to...

The Witcher but they actually follow the source material.

Donebrach,
@Donebrach@lemmy.world avatar

Not really, what you’re referencing is like a half-remembered retelling of a few of the stories from The Last Wish and Sword of Destiny.

Donebrach,
@Donebrach@lemmy.world avatar

I also had only played the witcher III when I started the books. The games are all set after the events of the witcher saga (books), and are honestly just really really good fan fiction based on the characters (like, really the best fan fiction you could think of), so you can feel free to just read the books.

If you’re not a big reader (if I understand the note about dracula correctly) the witcher audio books are really well done, and the stories lend themselves very well to being listened to.

Finally, I could write a treatise on the failures of the netflix show, but it would all be old news—about 10% of the show is accurate to the stories told in the text (and the text is so much better), the rest is a bunch of made-up nonsense that serves nothing other than to muddy the narrative.

In short, yes, read the books (also why do people need to ask advice about reading books these days. just read books).

Donebrach, (edited )
@Donebrach@lemmy.world avatar

I will only say this: reading a book takes no more time than it does to read a bunch of bullshit on the internet. Why would one need to consult with people prior to opening a book and reading 5, 10 or, 500 pages? I would argue that opening a book and reading it first is better than asking for peoples’ opinion and permission prior to reading anything.

To paraphrase Kamina: “Don’t believe in the text, believe in the text that believes in you!”

Snoring is often a sign of sleep apnea, which is easily treatable. Your wife should take a sleep test to see if she has it. Can take years off your life if left undiagnosed.

Donebrach,
@Donebrach@lemmy.world avatar

Not really, it’s more of just a stage name which is nothing at all new or groundbreaking.

Donebrach,
@Donebrach@lemmy.world avatar

“They’re just one bad apple” in reference to (more often than not) shitty cops, but also for most malcontents in a position of public trust. This a misappropriation of the aphorism “one bad apple spoils the bunch” which is literally saying that if there’s one bad actor in a group, the entire group is comprised.

Donebrach,
@Donebrach@lemmy.world avatar

Ah yes, because the founders wrote in modern American english that is wholly objective and unassailable in its original meaning. it is for this reason alone that no new laws have been passed or enforced since the penning of the Constitution.

You’re goddamn right.

Donebrach,

makes sense, Nintendo makes consistently fantastic games. even their less than good ones are often times better than most other companies. I cannot describe my process for picking games other than watching gameplay videos and seeing if it looks fun to me.
