And there I thought it was a smartass joke because you had switched “picture” for “language” only once and that it just meant the text of both lictures were written in the same language…
The image is from Pepper and Carrot, a comic by David Revoy, a French artist known for using free software and releasing everything he does under free license. I don’t know what episode this panel is from, but you can and should read it all here for free!
Is this a staged joke? Is everyone here in some conspiracy to make me believe that either the world went mad or I did? Why is everyone calling every Marvel movie “peak” but the first Iron Man? Obviously, this was the best one.
Feral chicken are known in several places. They can be pretty successful and have been signaled as threats to ecosystems and crops in archipelagos like Hawaii and Bermuda. But I’ve thinking about Brasil: Given the sheer amount of chicken being bread there, the presence of the Amazon rainforest, which has a similar climate to...
Yeah, you might be right, but just to feed the debate I’ll take the defense of the chicken :
Their sheer number is a big factor : There can be hundreds of thousands in a single farm. Even if tens of thousands die on the first days, the next morning, the survivors will be less fat and more alert.
Red junglefowls are quite adept at living in a rainforest environment despite being nearly flightless and living close to many predators. Their strategy of being diurnal and hiding in the trees at night to avoid mostly nocturnal predators works pretty well and many Amazon predators are nocturnal as well. Mass farm chicken might be too fat at first, but it shouldn’t last too long and feral chicken are known to quickly recover their instincts and start brooding in trees.
Tinamus while very far from chicken classification-wise (and closer to ostriches), fill a very similar niche and have a similar lifestyle to jungle fowls, also being very poor flyers. This proves that this type of lifestyle can also work in the Amazon. And with tinamu populations being destabilized by deforestation, and chicken being more adapted to a variety of lifestyles, they could outcompete them and steal their niche.
Just for the scorpion part : Chicken rarely encounrer scorpions due to these being nocturnal. And when they do, it’s a pretty even match : The scorpions might poison them, but the feathers make it harder and the chicken might eat the scorpion first. Source
No particular reason, chicken, ecological disasters and Brasil are just three things that have been popping in and out of my mind lately, it was only a matter of time until they combined.
The jaguar and anaconda population would increase for a few generations, but it would balance it out after a while
But would chicken still have a place in this new balance? I mean, tigers and pythons haven’t hunted the jungle fowls to extinction, nor have jaguars and anacondas done so to the unrelated, yet- similar tinamu…
Wow, I didn’t know about that… It’s even more troublesome for the hens if it keeps them from feeding of worms and bugs. If part of them survive long enough to breed, this won’t be a problem for the next generation… But this is already a big “if”.
I think it’s so if there’s pressure at the center of the box, it won’t press into the pizza, which would cause part of the cheese to stick to the cardboard.
First off, Wojacks ⊂ Rage faces. Rage faces are a wider and more diverse set, that includes the original wojack (and all the wojacks by extension) so they offer more possibilities; both cringe and non-cringe. Beside, they were more often than wojacks used in comics with several pannels and characters. More wojacks are used in single pannels constituting reaction pics or criticisms of a type of people.
In a way, wojacks are the heirs to Rage Comics, but they’ve adapted to a web in which we consume memes more quickly and in greater amounts, hence why they’re suited to smaller templates.
Great artwork ! That being said, am I the only one for whom this rss link doesn’t work? The feed reader I’m using is Feeder, but I’ve also tried opening it in a browser to see if that was the problem. It’s strange because I’ve subscribed to Arstation feeds before and it seems to be the same syntax…
Many add-ons have somewhat spookiy authorisation requirements, such as “access all of your activity”. Thanks! I haven’t yet tried to use wireshark with a container, tho’ll keep that in mind, but I did check the code on Github (my coding knowledge is small, but not nonexistent, and it was easier once I had an idea of what to look for). The addon I was interested but wary of at the moment was Redirector, but from what I’ve seen so far it seems legit (I didn’t find any occurence of most of these keywords, or anything that seemed suspicious with the occurences of http).
I think the face is Rika’s design from the Higurashi visual movel. Tho I haven’t watched it, so idk whether there’s a scene in it where she wears an armor for some reason or (more likely) it was edited on anither image.
A social network that was formed as a fork of lemmy, before lemmy had really entered the fediverse (tho they were planning to). Both Lemmy and Hexbear had communists among their founders, but the Hexbear devs found it more… Central to their objectives. When Lemmy federated, Hexbear didn’t. It planned to initially, but ended up being pretty satisfied of being a small, yet centralized social network, basically a communist Reddit. But the idea of joining the Fediverse appeared tempting once again with the boom that happened on Mastodon when the muskrat ate the bird, and to a greater extent when Reddit changed their API policy and lost a lot of the user’s trust, causing many redditors to move to Lemmy.
Hexbear devs then worked to essentially make it a Lemmy instance, but there were always disagreements about who to federate with. They first federated with Lemmygrad and Lemmy .ml. Lemmy .world quickly blocked them. They temporarily federated with sh .itjust .works, but this wasn’t well received on either side, so this was soon undone.
Ideology wise, pretty much everyone on Hexbear is some kind of communist. However, altho the “tankie”, pro-russia type is often seen, it’s not that homogeneous (there are even anarchist channels over there), arguably less than lemmygrad.
Yeah, I didn’t mean to say that all tankies are pro current Russia, but just that there is a specific type of tankies that is, and these are often the annoying ones.
Sounds to me like the cat was doing an ad hominem, attacking his opponent’s own credibility by mentioning their substance use rather than the substance of their argument… Typical cat, smh.

There was an evolutionary trend among carnivorous theropods that the larger they grew the less they used their arms to grab the prey: If you can either inflict a deadly bite or grab the whole neck in your jaw, grabbing with claws becomes unnecessary. Two lineages took it particularly far: in abelisaurids, such as carnitaurus, the arms became vestigial and in some cases completely disappeared.
In a separate theropod lineage, T-Rexes, while much bigger than any abelisaurid and with a bigger head, did not have vestigial arms. Their arms, tho tiny, still had bones that locked into each-other and seemed to have muscle attachments. There’s been several theories as to why: This certainly meant that T-Rexes still used their arms, but how? The main theory is that juvenile T-Rexes had a different morphology as their adult counterpart. They already hunted, but much smaller preys, and with a different technique, so they would’ve still used their arms. On top of that, there’s the idea that adult T-Rexes might’ve slept on their bellies and their arms would’ve been useful to bush themselves back up.
Another reason for T-Rex’s large heads, in addition to their big jaws being terribly efficient, is that it may help with placing their center of gravity over the knees, which is useful to keep balance while walking or running.
“Degenerate” is a word that has been used by many people in many contexts both before and after nazis were in power. It’s the privative prefix “de-” + the latin root for creation/birth. Broadly speaking, it just means someone or something altered over time in a way that they no longer function properly. I see how it can be used in a way that aligns with nazi ideology, but that’s not all it can be used for, or how it’s used here.
This is like saying “Everyone who’s ever called for genocide described their targets as bad people, therefore calling someone a bad person is genocidal ideology”. The word “degenerate”:
Doesn’t originate in genocidal ideology
Doesn’t have an intrinsically genocidal meaning
Has continuously been used in non-political contexts.
If we keep banning every word of the dictionary that a nazi has ever used, fascists will end up the only ones able to talk…
