Dicska,

Or crack intros all over the eighties.

youtu.be/EMzGlRZfTNs

Dicska,

They will turn out to have the same memes because some reptilian boomer granny somehow managed to forward them to them from Facebook. Or they just simply kept stealing them since the first UFO sighting.

Dicska,

I also agree with your first sentence, as in, the owners should indeed shit trees.

Dicska,

But you’re supposed to put it on the coffee machine.

Dicska,

While that’s true, I find it a bit sad that I have posted a question in the community of a 200000+ population city 3 months ago, and it’s still the most recent post.

Dicska,

Diablo II Resurrected. I’ve been playing it (Diablo II) for 20 years now. Even though I know the game inside out, a new rare rune drop can still make my day. I usually listen to podcasts meanwhile.

Vampire Survivors was tons of fun until I unlocked pretty much everything, but it also goes great with podcasts.

Clone Hero. Even though I only have a keyboard (so say goodbye to the fast strum bits), It often takes me from ‘I just want to chill’ to ‘this song was FIRE’.

Dicska,

…or see if it passes the Turing test.

Dicska,

I guess it also depends on the toppings. Like, seafood and big chunks of vegetables spoil faster than, say, cinnamon sticks (but the latter is quite a rare sight on pizza). At least if you care more about the food safety aspect.

Otherwise, if you were just looking for various opinions (or preferably, equivocal ones), I personally wouldn’t eat it later than the second breakfast time. I mean, the breakfast two days from delivery, not the hobbit meal. Also, if it’s as late as the 2nd day, I wouldn’t do that on a work day, or if I’m not guaranteed to have a safe emergency toilet opportunity.

StarCraft could return, according to Blizzard president, but not necessarily as an RTS (www.pcgamer.com)

While Blizzard is very much focussed on its big money-makers like its various Warcraft games, from WoW to Hearthstone to Warcraft Rumble, as well as Diablo and the much-maligned Overwatch 2, he’s still open to StarCraft making a comeback. That said, RTS fans shouldn’t get their hopes up. While the series might return, that...

Dicska,

I still have Diablo II Resurrected added to my Steam Library as “Blizzard’s remaining dignity”. And even that is because it’s made by Blizzard North. Apart from maybe WoW (at least the golden years, not necessarily the current state), I can’t think of anything else that has kept its perceived value.

Dicska,

Would that make it take up extra space for even longer than it does already?

Dicska,

I still start my search with site:reddit.com when looking for an answer. I just prefer opening the cached hits so that traffic doesn’t go to reddit but Google instead. Not like there weren’t problems with Google, but this is the closest I can get to “punishing” Reddit but also getting an answer to my question.

Dicska,

Also, imagine drunk flyers in bad weather.

Ground traffic collisions can also cause collateral damage, but more often than not those are constrained to the roads or their immediate vicinity where not many people live. An aerial collision may happen above residential areas, and even slight fender benders may mean a double crash (…on little Timmy mowing the lawn).

Also, there’s no air bag in the world that can save you in a crash.

Road traffic is easy to direct and regulate with road signs, lanes, lights, painted lines. Good luck herding cats a hundred (hundreds of) yards above ground. It’s not a huge problem with planes because there are not as many of them and they fly at vastly different altitudes. Not the case with personal flying cars.

With ground traffic, you only need two blinkers (or two sets). Some drivers even struggle with using that two properly. Good luck for getting them to use more.

And that’s just the top of my head, I’m sure there are like 2634 other reasons.

Dicska,

…and that’s still just for the drones.

Dicska, (edited )

Yeah, as I was writing that, I was thinking about '80s flying car lanes. It’s like a flow of cars with constant speed. But the ‘drunk flyers’ bit meant that we are humans. You’re also not allowed to drive drunk on the roads. That doesn’t prevent people from still doing that.

Good that you’ve mentioned the F-16, I’m just watching a video on them by Real Engineering on YouTube. I can only recommend the channel, and I’m not even an engineering nerd. Well, not yet.

EDIT: Yeah, a few more minutes into the video I think we both watched the same : ).

Dicska,

Yeah, they mentioned it in the video. That whole plane is just an awesome thing. It’s crazy how many modern sounding features they could shove into it so long ago.

As for the stick, AFAIK the pilots couldn’t tell the difference between moving it with 40% or 60% of the force needed, and the feedback loop was delayed.

I guess it’s just the timing then, because these were the main points of the video too.

Dicska,

Aaaand their website is unusable, inconvenient to use or lacks features exactly because they want you to use their app instead.

Not like it was impossible or even too hard for Instagram or TikTok to create a proper web UI for desktop, so that you can actually enlarge the videos to full screen (I’m talking about you, horizontal videos uploaded to vertical video host, displayed on horizontal screens, making it a video for ants that takes up <12% of the screen) or set the volume. They just want you to install their app where you can do those, but also provide location info, personal files, camera and microphone.

Dicska,

Isn’t wieso more like ‘How come’? I mean, yes, it also means ‘why’, but so does ‘how come’; but I guess they are more like an equivalent to each other than to ‘why’. I know less than zero about weshalb, though.

Dicska,

Nah mate, they were completely right. What if you install an older version, and keep using it maliciously? Oh wait, now that you mention, I’m totally sure Edge had a similar problem at one point in the past. So refrain from using Edge, too. Or Explorer. And while we’re at it, it’s best to stay away from Chrome, as well. That had a similar vulnerability before, I’m sure. So let’s dish that, along with Opera, Safari, Maxthon and Netscape Navigator. Just use Lynx, it’s super lightweight!

EDIT: on another thought, you should just have stopped working for the above reason. Nothing is safe anymore.

Has HP printers always been this bad? (sh.itjust.works)

So my mother recently bought an ET-2800, By HP we had an HP printer before and we got a new one because the old one would not work with my sister’s Windows 11 Laptop. So I had to set it up for my mother, the manual said you can use it without the app. But there was no way to physically do that. Anyway, I downloaded the app on...

Dicska,

I’ve had one of their fairly new, colour laser printers for years and I haven’t experienced any of these outrageous things people have with their ink jets. But I have to add that I’m still using the original toners. I have a slight worry that the story will begin once one of them is out.

Dicska, (edited )

Since the API exodus, I’ve only been using Google to look up something on reddit, strictly using cached versions only (no not give any more traffic to reddit). Whenever I could only find uncached hits, I still did the click of shame.

Thanks reddit, now I can cut the last cord. I couldn’t have done it without you.

Dicska,

This opens up future plans for some Rocket League vehicles to come to other Epic games over time

No this fucking doesn’t. If you want to put a vehicle or any model into a game, you won’t be limited because trading is enabled in a completely different game. This is so weak for an excuse that it feels like a straight fuck you. They didn’t even say a word about the WHY (like it wasn’t obvious anyway).

I have purchased the pass a few seasons ago, and as long as I get back enough credits for the next pass from it, I will just use that. Once they increase the price so that you get back 50 credit less than the original price, I just won’t buy the pass. Also, I won’t give them a bloody penny. They can choke on a dead rat.

Dicska,

Wizard of Wor will never be dethroned.

Dicska,

Horizontal video uploaded to Instagram, TikTok, or anything primarily designed for mobile devices? Have fun watching that horizontal video in the centre of your horizontal monitor, taking up 1/16th of your display area with no full screen. Those sites generate billions but they ALL refuse to do a desktop friendly version. It makes my blood boil every time.

Dicska,

As a Hungarian I’m both immensely proud of the great scientists and inventors the country provided to the world and at the same time, ashamed of the horrible politicians we’re plaguing this planet with. But for the time being, I’m quite excited. If anyone is a bit more physics savvy, I would be curious to know what processes we can learn more of now (probably down to an ELI5 level, but I know the very basics of nuclear physics, I guess).

Dicska,

And marinated in butter milk.

Dicska, (edited )

“I see you have a dead root up there. Please sit back and I will just pop all your teeth out, and then this stuff will regrow all of them in no time.”

EDIT: As bad as it sounds, I would go for it unironically. Not just because my mouth is a mess, but also because my teeth grew out quite jammed, and a factory reset may solve that.

Dicska,

I scrolled to the bottom to find the first comment about whisker fatigue and I couldn’t find any (I might have missed it).

It MAY be because the feeding bowl is a bit too narrow, making your cat’s surprisingly sensitive whiskers to bend, giving an unpleasant, if not painful experience.

If your cat keeps looking at you after finishing half of their meal, check if they want to finish it if you dump it onto a tray.

Dicska,

… Or it’s completely silent. Like, the whole word.

GH as in although

O as in people

T as in ballet

I as in business

Dicska,

I just realised he was just promoting his own channel’s content.

Dicska,
  • to find the source and have its revenge sevenfold.
Dicska,

What drives me mad is that 99.7% of the time you should be able to do everything through the browser without installing the 107th app. But they REALLY have to access your camera, microphone, files, location and body temperature in order to use the same shitty HTML wrapper just to show two input fields and some text.

Dicska,

I love the posters. Is one of them even misspelled?

Dicska,

Yes that’s the one I meant. But bonus points to the fellow member here; I didn’t even see the porque bit.

Dicska,

which feels like I am trying to cramp a star shape object in circle shape hole.

Try the square hole.

Dicska,

I’ve been terrified of spiders since I was a toddler. Still, whenever I say hi to Pete who set up his web in the corner just above my one and only house plant, I think about the nasty stuff he gobbles up so that I don’t have to deal with them. Thanks, Pete. Stay away, but thanks. You’ll be kept warm in the winter. :::: )

Dicska,

The coconut is very subtle.

Dicska,

… Aaaand as it turns out, most European languages are gendered. At least more gendered than ours.

Dicska,

Who cares, it’s a bike lock… Use whatever you like.

Dicska, (edited )

Hungarian here. Probably it would sound weird without the ‘fish’ bit, since we call it ‘tonhal’ (‘hal’ meaning fish). I just can’t imagine someone offering some tuna to me, asking ‘Ton?’.

EDIT: However, in English, I call it tuna, not tuna fish.

Dicska,

How do you install this, then?

Dicska,

Speaking of the UI: blegh. I’m probably the minority in this, but my hands clench into a fist whenever I see a super flashy, super spectacular animation with zero input tabs, stuff zooming-rotating-panning-cropping while someone isn’t even touching the mouse (touchpad), just clickety-click, typing away into the void. But not just the lack of cursor (or most often, an entire input field): the fact that characters mash the keyboard for something that would otherwise need a mouse.

I used to hate fake programs, but I understand that there are legal/financial reasons not to use a real one, so I don’t expect that anymore, and I do a notbadobama face whenever I see a genuine browser/OS.

Now, I also understand that watching a stationary screen while someone slowly fills a field is not too exciting, and you need to bring in dynamic elements. But just like with conversations, you can show the user more, and zoom out of the screen a bit. I liked what Minority report did to make everything flashy and moving with all those projected photos and hand gestures. They even made some sense.

Dicska,

I don’t think the size of a micro SIM is significant, considering the size of the phone it’s in.

Dicska,

Yeah, I didn’t think about the amount of tiny little parts it needs around it. But what I meant by that is that once a phone gets wasted, all the micro-tiny cables and plastic SIM door and the SIM’s collective weight and volume are quite minuscule, compared to the phone’s weight and volume. It’s an improvement, for a fact. But is it really worth gutting that phone of the SIM slot for such a tiny improvement?

Dicska,

Vegetarianism: the custom of eating vegetables. So I guess we are witnessing the birth of humanitarianism.

Dicska,

Especialmente porque el tipo es un actor hispanohablante.
