The details of my life are quite inconsequential… very well, where do I begin? My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen year old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet.

I don’t use discord, is the change significant?

Is there a Spotify alternative that has no ads?

I pay for Spotify for 7 years or so now and i'm so sick of all the ads. After every update there seems to be an: oops, sorry, you have ads now. Podcasts are filled with ads. I was just listening to a podcast where they shoved in 3 ads mid-sentence. How long until musicians put ads in their songs. I'm just so sick of it.

This is the way. Good share, friend.

I stopped watching the live action movies after Iron Man 2. I find the Marvel animation much more enjoyable.

Just got a cloud flare error when visiting the site. Is there a problem currently?

The sense of horror and dread seems intentional. Dead scientists on the ground, dead soldiers on the ground, eerie music, limited items at the onset, etc.

It’s just hair. Why is the school district so interested in restricting hairstyles?

Will you compete with yourself to seek self-improvement?

Truly, this is the answer lol. We’ve only been waiting since GameCube era…

I accept that a vegan diet can be healthy for many people, however, it may not work for everyone due to individual variations in nutrient absorption and metabolism.

In a hundred years, I think our species will be ashamed of a great many things.

I wasn’t a heavy Digg user, but it was fun.

So stay naked and unwashed, and eat with your hands? Go for it, if you want to.

The creator of Pixelfed announced an upcoming encrypted messenger for the fediverse that will work across the fediverse (mastodon.social)

It will be open source, end to end encrypted using Signal’s double ratchet encryption protocol, and he plans to make it easy for fediverse platforms to integrate it. The beta will release later this month....

I get the sentiment here, but “opening doors” is a little more nuanced and complex than earning a college degree in a random subject.

I’ve seen people with PhDs unable to find work, and people with no degrees at the top of a company.

Life is interesting like that.

I’m of the same state of mind: it’s a superb interface, but I won’t give money to an app developer to remove ads from a service that does not display ads inherently.

I have no problem with folks using Sync, web app, Liftoff, whatever. This should not be divisive.

Book suggestion: LONG Space Opera (or sci-fi or cyberpunk) packed with action and cool characters

I feel like I wrote this post from time to time on Reddit and I think I’ll start this tradition here. I’m. a Honor Harrington fan. I’ve read several other space operas and they always fall short. The three that came close were Lt. Leary, Kris Longknife and Vorkosigan saga. Lt. Leary was nice, but it failed on World...

Hades is phenomenal on the deck! I’m also enjoying Backfirewall, Nuclear Throne, Unpacking, and Ghost Song.

This was a fun arcade game, fun n64 port too.

zanyllama52,
@zanyllama52@infosec.pub avatar

Well, mine has 100% restored PC gaming which abandoned about 10 years ago, and has improved the experience by light years. At home, I use the deck in my living room and family room docked, and anywhere else as a handheld (pooping has changed forever).

At work, I use it an lunch breaks, and during boring meetings I don’t need ta focus much on.

The library of games available would be unthinkable to me as a kid. Most modern PC games, and everything prior can be played either natively, or via emulation.

I also call mine a Gabe-Boy. lol

If you’re on the fence, GET IT.

zanyllama52,
@zanyllama52@infosec.pub avatar

I am pretty comfortable with nds/3ds emulation on the steam deck, running both screens side by side or PIP mode. This folding device might be a good option for some.

Vigilante: A Home Port Comparison (i.imgur.com)

Vigilante was a 1988 Irem coin-op, a kind of spiritual successor to 1984’s Kung Fu Master/Spartan X. Like the 1984 title, Vigilante had a simple premise - you walk to the right and beat up fools in front of you and behind you. There’s no pseudo-third-dimension, no in and out, it’s just straight up single plane brawling,...

The use of the word aesthetic as a verb in the last several years blows my mind.

Anyhow, yeah, we dress different when we’re kids. I don’t think too many people are shocked by this.

Tetris is a helluva game. I’ve been to a few local tournaments, to watch, not play. Those guys would smoke me. If you like the game check out a documentary titled Ecstasy of Order: The Tetris Masters.
