terminhell,

Mostly on the newer bios machines. Older ones don’t. Same for hp. Lenovo is all over the place.

terminhell,

It has that wire to output audio on both speakers? That’s the green one btw. The pink is for mic input. USB could be for a few different things depending on the features that particularl set has.

Edit: Nvm, thought the question was for a headset, not a microphone. Unless the mic was part of a headset or something. Idk, other comments may have the answer.

terminhell,

Welcome to the dark side XD

Also, don’t forget to take a look at time shift or w/e it’s called. It’s a tool that creates btrfs system snapshots. It creates them when most updates are installed, and you can make em manually too. Really good if you start setting custom kernel stuff or w/e. Allows easy rollbacks from grub menu.

Fedora or, the ProtonGE guys spin Naburo (spelling?) Is also a good choice.

terminhell,

Just give it a go. I used it for years, and had relatively little issues tbh. Most of them I think are hardware related as I’ll have similar issues in other distros and even windows.

The devs have done some goofs yes. Things like letting certs expire, and as mentioned already, potential issues with aur. But, I remember having aur issues even with vanilla arch in the past.

Using fedora currently though, and I don’t think I’ll switch anytime soon.

1530 vs 0330

Edit: a number

terminhell,

Fat thumbed the wrong number XD

terminhell,

Oof

Don’t worry, you’re not missing out on much. Is it better than…self service? Ya sometimes, but not always.

terminhell,

I think this might be too 40k obscure for the masses XD

terminhell,

Glad I don’t really watch content anymore. Though, between the Roku TV my kid has, and the big Samsung TV in our living room…my pihole is constantly hammered by both of them.

terminhell,

It’s hard to not play a female in Skyrim, just cuz the Dibela buff you can get very early on.

terminhell,

I just wish the games that are remade/remastered are basically just graphic updates, with some bug fixes and minor qol additions. That’s it. Not like what they did to ff7.

Hell, diablo 2 Remaster was good. The addition of being able to swap between new and old graphics on the fly is amazing tbh.

Help, boot doesn't work anymore

I have a laptop eith sata and a nvme drive. I installed a few operating systems and I decided on Mint for Sata. Installed it copied data from Nvme drive since I was using it as primary. I installed Nobara on nvme and it worked flawless until a few moments ago. Reboted and Mint is gone from boot options. Tried to add it but...

terminhell,

It could also be entries stored in efi. Won’t hurt to delete them from the list in bios if starting over.

terminhell,

In some situations, unfortunately yes. Some schools will take the stupid “zero tolerance” stance so broadly. I do remember a few times growing up that the bullied kid would still get suspended(if they were lucky, at reduced length vs the bully, if enough evidence was available).

Often times (as should be) you’re better off fighting back cuz both are gonna get in trouble.

terminhell,

I had an unusual lesson from my parents regarding bullies. They told me, that if they found out that the I didn’t even try defending myself from bullies and found out, I’d still get whooped at home. It seems kinda cruel at surface level. But when the time ultimately came, dam straight I fought back tooth and nail. And no, they were not abusive in any way. Even reflecting back as an almost 40yr old adult. They were both prison guards/swat people. So they had a very different perspective of bullying I guess.

terminhell,

Do other non ublock adblockers not have the ability to whitelist specific domains? Or are people just unaware of it? (Probably the latter id assume)

terminhell,

Ubuntus terminal isn’t really hidden. The root user not being usable (heavily advised against) is a good thing for almost all situations (something I wish windows would also do by default).

Android is built entirely for mobile devices. Ya sure you CAN get it running on other devices, but why?

Friendly interfaces, is subjective tbh. I think I get where you’re coming from.

terminhell,

Probably intended for laptops

terminhell,

I have one right by the entry to my kitchen. I do occasionally check it’s pressure gauge. Mounted to the wall on a slide hook kinda thing.

terminhell,

Worked at Office Depot back in ~2012-2014. Was the lead tech, and was the primary hardware fix guy. Had a guy bring in this old dell clamshell case PC with an xp sticker. It and him already smelled…off. After discussing some issues (no power) and finishing the paperwork, I cracked it open. They came spilling out. Dead, alive, and various sized. All the droppings too. It was one of the first machines I refused to work on. The guy had no choice but to leave with it. Didn’t really say much after that.

The only other PC that came close to that were those of chain smokers. Where the tar buildup was actually sticky to the touch, coating everything, outside and in.

terminhell,

Yup. After my first tar PC, I refused them going forward.

Also, the cheap incenses (the ones that light instantly) can cause a similar scenario. I guess the moral here, clean your computers!

terminhell,

Is this just a solar powered distillery? Seems like thunderf00t has done several videos on things like this before…

Has Windows startup repair or a troubleshooter ever fixed your issue even once?

Yeah, basically that. I’m back at work in Windows land on a Monday morning, and pondering what sadist at Microsoft included these features. It’s not hyperbole to say that the startup repair, and the troubleshooters in settings, have never fixed an issue I’ve encountered with Windows. Not even once. Is this typical?...

terminhell,

Not that I’ve ever seen. It usually means it’s time to reinstall.

terminhell,

Overall ya, but I’ve done my fair share of reimage or reinstall. Either because it would be faster(biz setting, Becky in accounting gotta get payroll done ASAP) or I just don’t want the headache of it at that moment.

terminhell,

Lay them all out in a straight line. Attach camera to rc car. Drive car past pics. Basically Google streets but for your pics XD /s

Lots of great suggestions here though.

terminhell,

I’ve had both over my life. Both have pros and cons.

As others have said, cats overall require less attention; both in interaction and maintenance. Our cats are really good about keeping house bugs to a minimum with their natural hunter instincts. Flies, moths and other critters don’t last long. Also litter boxes are something I wish dogs could figure out lol.

Dogs are more social, so they’ll need more from you. They need frequent outside time to run and exercise/bathroom. Most dogs don’t care about catching bugs and critters like cats. However, if treated right, will defend the house to the death from intruders.

In my current situation, cats are better. If I had a much bigger, we’ll fenced yard, I’d love to have a dog again.

terminhell,

This

I ran Manjaro for years. I think I ever needed, wanted something out of aur once for a simple something.

terminhell,

Get your hands on some used computers, and maybe an 8-16 port switch, then dive into the world of home lab! Setup your own servers and network stacks. Deploy services, containers etc.

Hell, you’d be surprised at how involved setting up a headless Linux Minecraft server can be if You’ve never done it. Little projects add up to a lot of hands on experience you just don’t get from a book.

terminhell,

Lots of great suggestions here.

What about straight up disk cloning? Like, with dd to a dedicated backup drive?

terminhell,

Not to be pedantic, but wouldn’t it need to be a 180? 360 would put them right back in the same spot XD

terminhell,

The game came out in 2021. There are far older games from other publishers still up and getting updates. Stop giving these pump-and-dump games your money.

terminhell,

When they started selling always online games.

terminhell,

Living in Louisiana, the interstates are the only roads that are anything regularly maintained. So Ill pick them over any other road

terminhell,

Not where I’d like to see it, but where I see it going:

Much like the three major publishers - Mac, MS, Google. Google and Apple are already using Linux/bsd. MS, on desktop is the only player left. They happen to be the most prominent player. It’s an odd thing though, as others have pointed out. That more and more people, outside of work simply don’t have a PC anymore. Phones have taken over for what a lot of people would have used a PC for to begin with.

With that, MS may replace their NT kernel with a *nix (probably built themselves or heavily modified from something like Gentoo - like ChromeOS) and then what. We’ll still have these mega corps still pushing closed sourced systems.

Idk, I guess the question of “do we actually want Linux on everything?” remains. The enthusiast PC market differs from pre built OEMs for a reason.

Would I like to see wider adoption, yes. But I think it’s better suited still for enthusiast and repurposing older machines to save them from e-waste.

terminhell,

This is the method I use for password generation. Pure entropy. Probably quantum proof too /s

terminhell,

Not trying to sound pedantic or rude, by just generally curious; What about all the other microorganisms, bacteria, etc that are within any given plant you eat line up with this eh, philosophy? I know this may come across as a bit reductionist, but I guess when you see a lot of edge cases, it becomes a sword XD

Like, how would veganism feel about a person’s immune system killing off other things? Do you avoid hand sanitizer? I guess the crux of my questions boil down to where the line is drawn. Does it only apply to non plant/fungi?

terminhell,

That’s fair.

terminhell,

There’s a few ways to interpret that and answer. The why some animals and not others is more of a cultural divide. To my knowledge I’ve never consumed dog meat. I hear it taste…ok. I personally wouldn’t seek it out, and that’s an interesting question in of itself. Would I decline it in a survival situation, no. Would I decline if offered to me while in another country or something? Not sure.

The odd side effect of farmed animals is insurance of their survival as a species. Now, I’m not anti vegan. I don’t think it’s a bad idea. I’m omnivorous. Could we do better, ya. I’ve helped with the family farm before, growing a variety of produce. I’ve also hunted before. It would be nice to go back to a more primal way of eating. Having to work for the food beyond driving to a grocery store or having them delivered. Most of humanity has lost that connection to the land and life cycle.

terminhell,

The cereal is that good, I wasn’t doubting they were pulling that XD

terminhell,

To this day, I still don’t understand what takes windows updates so dam long. Not sure about Mac, but Linux takes, what, 5 minutes at most if you’ve gone a while.

terminhell,

Another issue is that windows will eventually force a reboot on you with pending updates. You can postpone it for a while, but eventually you’ll be in the middle of something and it will just do it anyways.

terminhell,

Bruh what

terminhell,

This is too meta for me right now 😭

terminhell,

I’ve done both.

Imo it ends up being cyclical. It starts on the top left, but ends in bottom right.

terminhell,

Silly question, but is the sticker gone?

terminhell,

See guys, we shoulda paid for it back then. Now we’re paying for it now XD
