Phil Anselmo did a nazi salute. This made me sad. But the band didn’t market themselves as nazis or write songs that praised nazism or overt racism. I wouldn’t mind if someone knew that I own all their albums (except the one where they were apparently a hair band; I never saw that in stores when I was buying CDs). Fuck nazis, but I have a friend who got into a lot of Russian techno artists because he watched livestreams of Russian women on OnlyFans playing that music during shows. He didn’t find nazi music (to my knowledge), but he did have to invent a cover story for his Ukrainian wife for how he discovered the artists.

As an aside, I’m reading an interesting book called The Origins of Satan. It was onscreen being read in an ep of Sopranos (Janice) and I looked up reviews and it sounded interesting. Very interesting historical context about judasim c. 1st century on early christianity. Fwiw, I’m an atheist. This is still one of the best books I’ve read this year. I’m learning a lot.

I have a Mac / Linux background. I took a job where I supported primarily Windows machines. I remember wanting to set a machine to NTP to solve an out-of-sync time issue. I knew what the goddamned computer protocol was, but futzed around trying to find where I could enable it for ten minutes. Windows is confusing as fuck. I disagree. Someone who isn’t willing to try Linux on their own, or otherwise investigate, just because they’re curious is not ready for the baggage that comes with a new OS. Agreeing with another comment: don’t make this change at the same time as other major changes to your career. That is a recipe for disaster.

I’m a Mac / Linux guy who dislikes Windows. I wouldn’t even suggest getting a Mac at the same time as making huge career changes. And Linux is harder. Not impossible, but no training-wheels. You want something new, but you aren’t really interested in Linux itself.
