Wudijo’s Discord

Massive server including lots of popular games. Heavily moderated…I’ve never experienced toxic behavior there.

I’m just curious as to what Beeper’s response will be.

Because I participated in the closed beta I get Beeper free for life. I’ve been using Beeper now for almost 3.5 years and I love it.

Surprisingly, no one reported this as being off-topic. Memes do not belong here. Locked and removed.

How do you deal with disability discrimination at work?

I’m looking for a little advice because I’m feeling pretty lost. Without going too far into it, my manager at work is using things that she knows are part of my disability, autism, to give others a negative impression of my work performance and conduct, and causing me to be disciplined. I believe she’s trying to have me...

I’ve had only one workplace experience that I would consider extreme. I was directly threatened (unsolicited physical harm) by another co-worker. I immediately brought it to the attention of the manager and their response was: “I don’t have time for this shit!”.

I walked out, got in my car and drove home. Then I wrote a very detailed letter (email) to the corporate headquarters explaining what had transpired. The next morning I went back to work, with several printed copies of that email, to hand deliver to the managers.

While waiting in my car for the building to open, one of the managers came to speak to me. They expressed to me that they knew what had happened the previous day and headquarters weren’t going to do anything about it. I gave that manager the printed copies, drove home and never looked back.

I had enough self-respect and dignity to just move on and leave all those assholes behind.

First, I believe that @agegamon provided some good thoughts.

That being said, I believe that being heard is important here. I hear you and others do as well.

I wish I could wave a magic wand and make all your troubles disappear.

Take care and feel free to share more in the future.

…you are thick.

When you signed up for Beehaw you agreed to our only rule: Be(e) nice. Name-calling is NOT nice. Consider this a warning.

Also guilty.

Why would you feel this way…most of us were born into this world not knowing anything about climate change…I only learned about it in 2007…Scientists have known about this problem, at least, since the 1950s…It has been shown, many times over, that the primary responsibility (of no longer burning fossil fuels) falls onto a handful (or so) of very large corporations…Of course, they want the every day person to feel guilty and have been pushing green-washing propaganda for decades onto all of us…propaganda works in their favor to deflect the blame off of themselves and onto you and I.

Right now, China and India must get on board quickly in order for the future populations to subvert the worst case scenarios.

This doesn’t belong in World News.

YouTube once again ahead of uBO on Firefox; fiddling with the extension settings not working this time and DDG search is useless ... anyone got ideas?

Pretty much the subject line. uBO has successfully blocked the nag screen enough times that I can’t play anything at this point. No preview loads, and the play button serves no function. I’d really prefer not to have to find content on YT, copy the URL and use Piped/Invidious, but this ongoing escalation is steeling my...

For now, as @furrowsofar has suggested, /c/foss would suffice.

I’m going to have to remove this post because the source, www.memri.org, is so horrible.

Your comment could be easily taken as antisemitic. Our only rule at Beehaw is to be(e) nice. Please, keep this in mind for the future. BTW, you are using that Psalm outside of its historical context and does not apply to modern religious Jews.

Q and A on Beehaw - what's the vibe?

So this is a bit of a meta-question. I was going to post a question about tech (for context I am looking for a tablet/iPad to read journal papers) so I headed to the technology community. But all the posts are news articles and the description is along the lines of ‘post happenings and innovations in tech…’ so I chickened...

It all feels like too much water in my Scotch.

LMAO good analogy!

Let the community work it out: A throwback to early internet days could fix social media’s crisis of legitimacy (www.niemanlab.org)

[…]why should a few companies — or a few billionaire owners — have the power to decide everything about online spaces that billions of people use? This unaccountable model of governance has led stakeholders of all stripes to criticize platforms’ decisions as arbitrary, corrupt or irresponsible. In the early, pre-web days...

admin,
@admin@beehaw.org avatar

We believe it is time to consider not just how online spaces can be governed efficiently and in service to corporate bottom lines, but how they can be governed fairly and legitimately. Giving communities more control over the spaces they participate in is a proven way to do just that.

Agreed.
