I have recently jumped head first into the Linux space. I’ve installed Arch on my daily driver and I’ve become overwhelmed/overjoyed with my options. I’d like to hear from the community about your Linux favorites....
I’m helping a family member build a pc. He wanted to use Windows because “Linux can’t play games” despite me having a perfectly good gaming laptop running Linux that runs all my games, even graphically intensive ones....
The main cloud services don’t even work natively (GoogleDrive, OneDrive, iCloud) basically the only mainstream choice is Dropbox. I tried to use Google Drive in Mint, and it’s a pain to get it to work, and usually it stops working after computer restarts....
One should be at the bottom one at the top. I understand space on the phone is a premium but a second port would make the phone so much more usable. Wired headphones, flash drives, camera modules, speaker modules, keyboards, even connection to a TV, all could be used while charging. It’s a shame it’s not a thing, USB is...
Have you seen the recent benchmarks where Firefox surpassed Chrome? Sure, they may not reflect actual use cases, but it shows that there isn’t much of a speed difference.
So as I understand it, Google’s using it’s monopoly market position to force web “standards” unilaterally (without an independent/conglomerate web specification standards where Google is only one of many voices) that will disadvantage its competitors and force people to leave its competitors....
Most people have no idea or don’t care at all about privacy on the internet. Google has a solid set of “free” services that work well and a good enough reputation to convince them.
It’s a coping mechanism for stress relief. Apparently, they feel safer at an enclosed space where they can observe potential threats or ambush their prey without being seen easily. They also love high places for the same reason. As a bonus point, most boxes are made of materials that cats can easily scratch, which they can do to relax and stretch their muscles.
I’m starting this off by saying that I’m looking for any type of reasonably advanced photo manipulation tool, that runs natively under Linux. It doesn’t have to be FOSS....
It mostly depends on what features of Photoshop you use. If you use most of them, there’s no real alternative imo. If you only use a subset of its features, then GIMP, Krita, Photopea or Pinta may become viable alternatives for your use case.
Yeah sure… If they just kept it to a sane number like Chrono Trigger did so much time ago, it would be much better. Why are we counting permutations as “different endings”?
I’d like to settle on a distro, but none of them seem to click for me. I want stability more than anything, but I also value having the latest updates (I know, kind of incompatible)....
If I had to choose, I’d go with openSUSE Tumbleweed. It’s a solid distro overall. Arch, Debian and Mint are close though! I’ve been thinking to check out NixOS and Garuda for a while, but I haven’t had the time for that yet.
Why YSK: Because fandom's website is complete garbage, it's filled with ads, has a horrible UI and has auto playing videos for no reason. For some reason a lot of game wikis still use that website.
