qyron,

I risk it won’t take long for someone to crack it.

qyron,

What is concerning about spliff is the tendency to facilitate descent into abnormal mental states.

I enjoy good relations with a few healthcare professionals and the general consensus is, at this point, spliff has more potential benefits to explore than bad effects, so it makes sense to explore it, never overlooking the continuous use has been linked with some serious mental inbalances and even some physical syndromes.

Just a few days ago, here, on Lemmy, there was a lemming talking about a strange condition where continuous use over decades can trigger extremer pain and discomfort episodes, due to deposit of substances on fat tissue.

Tobacco is a proven killer, yes, but who knows what weird side effets we may be yet to discover connected with mary jane.

qyron,

If a company can successfully desig, build and sell heavy machinery while at the same time manufacturing personal care items, let them be.

qyron,

Dental dams.

I know what it is yet never found it selling.

Licking envelopes.

There was a time when the glue was somewhat sweet. I grew out of it quick enough - wasn’t willing to stick paper in my mouth - but not quick enough to not build that memory.

WD40

It has a very wide range of uses but there is a limit for it.

GOG or STEAM? how do you choose?

With the use of Heroic game launcher, I’m wondering if you all preferred to play your GOG version of games over the Steam version. I can go either way but sometimes I pause and think, having two copies of the same game, one on steam and one on GOG, which one would give me a better gaming experience. For example, I may choose...

qyron,

GOG

Just the hability to have my entire collection in a backup disk I can keep in my drawer, to install and play with no need for an internet connection makes all the difference.

Bonus: no DRM

qyron,

Who’s the figure head holding the puppy? I wan’t to do the same thing to him.

qyron,

To the extent of what I know of modern cooking, my country is an outlier. If you walk in a restaurant, there will be one or two dishes ready to serve and from that point forward you can order à la carte.

The first will get you served in a few minutes, the second you get to wait. And there is no point in complaining it’s taking too long, as you’ll get shown the door.

In all my life, the best restaurant I ever went to worked three nights a week, started serving by seven p.m. and closed the kitchen by nine. Last customer out the door by ten thirty, lights out by eleven thirty.

Small room, no menu. If you wanted a specific dish you could request in advance and pay as you’d make you reservation. They would serve around 40 people a night.

Best food and mood I ever had the opportunity and pleasure to enjoy.

qyron,

“Bartender! You know how to make a Red Eye?”

qyron,

I like IT as well but on that front I want to start a small hobby shop because there is nothing where I live besides dollar stores and phone shops, which sell cheap low quality material.

qyron,

Shortest career of any profession, if what leaks from the business is true to the slightest.

qyron,

I can respect that feeling. Especially the competitive part. It feels as if every and anything nowadays needs to become a competition.

qyron,

Please do not do that. You will miss it.

qyron,

No. Working sales is becoming the devil envoy.

qyron,

Is your name Gyro Gearloose?

qyron,

Number 3 is a very hard pass as well.

qyron,

That is a measure of distance, not time.

qyron,

That is lost on me…

qyron,

Most people consider light years a measure of time, not distance.

qyron,

Let it go and allow it to die in peace; the subject is already cold and stiff.

qyron,

A pine cone is a fruit?

I was taught a pine cone was a “naked flower”, as it never developed petals and ovary developed directly and bore the seed.

qyron,

New knowledge acquired! Thank you. Wasn’t aware of that detail.

qyron,

Joined FB to keep in touch with some people. At some point got bored. Deleted the account.

Youtube is a video platform, not a social network.

Joined Reddit out of curiosity. Deleted the account.

Tried Imgur. Left.

Now experiencing Lemmy.

I can live without social media.

qyron,

Is this a really gross food stuff, like the japanese horse meat icecream or a nasty food safety error?

qyron,

Scratch costs with transportation. No need for any means of transportation.

Also a lot more free time. No commuting, no early leave to get somewhere on time. Just blink and you’re there.

qyron,

Do I sense Nightcrawler vibes?

qyron,

I always understood teleportation as a accelerate-decelerate sequence to reach the end point, as in not A to B but A to B to C, where B is the midpoint where you have enough momentum to naturally stop at your destination.

qyron,

The best teleporter ever created, regardless the drawback.

qyron,

I comprehend it enough to say that is not a good breakfast.

qyron,

My dear friend.

Please allow me to expose to you some horrors I have witnessed first hand, so that you may go into the world fully aware of the dread it holds and hides.

For there are things that should not be out there.

Like people that sleep - yes, sleep - with a bottle of Coca Cola by their bedstand and wake up during the night to drink from it. And that see as a proper waking ritual to unscrew the cap of the same bottle - or perhaps a fresh one - take a long swig from it, light a cigarette and smoke it as they put on their bedroom slippers.

qyron,
qyron,

What it takes to make it an hard martial art is often not taught, which rendered it as a watered version of itself.

Aikido does have a set of “attack” movements, used to break the offensive of the opponent.

qyron,

You can resist a throw, obviously, but the grabs and movements exploit phisiology.

One of the basic manouvres aplies pressure on the radial nerve and wrist, in a twist like motion. It is really painful and resisting it can cause serious damage.

The throws are defensive manouvers to avoid serious injuries.

qyron,

For the physical fitness, Muay Thai.

It is also effective for a self defense context, if the trainer teaches non-sport Muay Thai. Muay Thai is essentially street fighting.

For self control and development of balance, speed and coordenation, try Aikido.

qyron,

Can we start a movement to incentivize one politician or someone with a lot of representation behind them to simple tell the bird brain to “sit down, shut up and stay still”?

qyron,

We are civilized people, here. This isn’t Russia.

qyron,

That is just too quick and painless. Have it seized and baned from flying until further inspection. Rinse, repeat, at least 50 times. Charge him fees for having the plane parked at whatever airport it may be at. Then have the airplane banned of ever flying again.

qyron,

I have €10 on hand to pay and see anyone perform this without getting a single drop of pee on them.

Because there are people dumb enough to try that. Just not that skillful.

qyron,

I read that book and ended feeling I’m broken as a human.

The protagonist feels ashamed of being alive and trying to fend for himself, by eliminating objectively harmful individuals.

qyron,

Or just bulk purchasing.

Knew a fellow that worked for a food company - juices, nectars, preserved fruits, jams and compotes, baked goods with fruit, etc - that has a name brand. Most of the production is exported for so called “premium markets”.

The largest supermarket chain here aproaches the company to have a few products made under their label. Not waterdowned versions of their recipes but completely new recipes or variations on the producers recipes.

Final product is as expensive or more to produce than name brand, which implies lower margins but still good money.

Supermarket product is not a waterdowned version but a completely separate product. If the end product is garbage, the supermarket gets the bad record.

qyron,

No. Heinz rides on a name, not on quality.

I can name three local brands that dwarf that bottled red sludge in quality, sell cheaper and larger volumes.

Only thing I will grant to Heinz: glass bottles.

qyron,

After jumping/testing for years, I settled for L’Oreal Men Expert line.

The roll-on deodorant can last me for 24h. And I work mostly outdoors.

Hair & Body Wash has a nice aroma and is not aggressive.

Skin Care is not oily nor pasty and has a nice and fresh scent.

And they regularly sell this as a kit in a zip pouch you can throw into a duffel bag to carry around.

qyron,

Hair & Body wash can work but often are too aggressive for hair. But used occasionally is not problematic.

qyron, (edited )

Bunsen Labs Linux and, for the experience, Tiny Core Linux

qyron,

Instantly buy the largest swat of land I can amass and have it turned into the planets largest wild life preserve.

Source of income: observation tours and nature escapes in full eco villages. Max occupation: 50. Max number of villages: one per 100 square kilometer.

Free access to scientists and wildlife reseaechers.

Security: enforced by snipers.

qyron,

Has the potential to be as bad as…

qyron,

Adding myself to the cue to get an answer on that as well.

qyron,

Instant transfers are €1.60+tax for me. Never used one.
