msage,

Also Calamity mod… it expands Terraria massively

msage,

Do you want your bank to see everything you’ve purchased?

msage,

I guess you mean their cards.

And they should only see the amount and counterparty, not your entire invoice.

msage,

Apart from David’s paws they also have sweaters and shirts

msage,

Just FYI - it’s mandatory to have a button like that next to the ‘Accept all’.

Every site that doesn’t do it should be reported.

msage,

Passes to Moses, SCOOOOORE

msage,

Do I lock my door? Absolutely.

Do I let strangers into my home? As little as possible.

msage,

If you are in the middle of the festival, the joint won’t transmit that much more Covid than just being together.

msage,

The knife is also AI generated

msage,

It’s still my favourite anime.

Even rewatch feels very close to the first time experience.

So well written, designed, masterpiece of a soundtrack… just the best of the best.

The third movie, however, felt weird. UntilCreepDawns made an absolute banger of an abridged version, that might just justify watching it anyway.

msage,

Sure, but it was so roundabout and unnecessary in every other way. And it’s not like after it everything was cool.

msage,

India has very delicious and even heavy foods, that are vegetarian. Though the heavy ones usually contain butter.

msage,

No, but you see, the chance you get the same side twice is… (HH, HT, TH, TT) 50%, shit

When we add another toss, you get only two possibilities of always same side, and 6 that are not.

So which is it? The coin itself may always have 50/50, but the universe which tosses in a series doesn’t?

msage,

The tippy top of top left is Wintersun. Fight me

msage,

Jesus since when is shoe right dogwhistle?

msage,

Settings -> Search -> Add search bar in toolbar?

msage,

And then fly away when the wind picks up

msage,

Hey, this is a classic.

Just turn off vehicle breakdowns, as they can cause huge congestions everywhere. And that’s very stressful.

I love trains

msage,

Oh hey, more Spice and Wolf fans!

msage,

Isn’t it better to use btrfs nowadays?

I’m also old-school lvm person, but I put btrfs in my Gentoo desktop, though I don’t actually utilize it at all.

msage,

Hey, you offering to send keys over Element! I have my own server, nice to see others in the wild.

I don’t need the game, I just came to say hello.

Good luck with this giveaway!

msage,

I shill this everywhere, but have you tried Terraria?

There is a mod called Calamity, which extends the game so much, in every direction, I always recommend it.

msage,

Absolutely no to everything you said.

There is no placebo, you can flag stuff out of your builds, so you can have OS without IPv6 anywhere. Or PA support. If you don’t appreciate that, then it’s not for you, but Gentoo does an amazing job of providing freedom with ease of use you can’t find anywhere else.

Sure it takes time to compile, but you just run portage and watch the CPU burn. And if you have enough cores, it doesn’t take all that long.

Also, OpenRC support.

It’s not about the boot times, definitely not about software running faster, everything about having even more control over your computer. Use binary distro if you like, but Gentoo has a place amongst the distros.

msage,

Perhaps in the past it was more educational, but nowadays you start with stage3 and everything is so streamlined, that I didn’t learn all that much from installing it.

msage,

eventually kill mainstream gaming as an artform

oh boy, do I have some sad news for you

msage,

But when I think about it, those poor people are absolutely fucked right now. By achieving small victories like these they get nothing. We have luxurious lifestyles, while the poorest don’t even eat.

Fuck capitalism. House and feed everyone first, then play pretend with numbers.

msage,

Who said anything about force?

We can just spend resources to build sustainable habitats and farms for everyone.

Where is the subjugation?

msage,

It’s an immutable version of stripped Arch, dunno if that counts as ‘slightly restricted’. You can disable the read-only mode if you want to and know what you’re doing.

msage,

I mean for average console user, you can do a whole lot. Even for your average Windows user.

And if you drive Linux… I’m not sure why you couldn’t handle SteamOS?

msage,

Have you ever mentioned Lemmy in any official communication?

Because I would love to see any tangible proof it’s the real MR.

I’ll wait post strike, no hurry here.

msage,

My brother in Christ you know not of what you speak

msage,

Use LXDE/XFCE and stay away from Chrome. And any games.

msage,

Do you mean like System76?

msage,

You don’t need certified Linux hardware to use Linux, and hardware is supported for a really long time once it’s there.

So you don’t have to worry about using latest distros, you should always welcome every update, they fix and add new things (unless it’s Ubuntu, screw them). And if you have new unsupported hardware, it will usually be supported in the next kernel release.

Meaning if you go with usual x86 CPU, Linux won’t have issues with almost anything that comes with it.

msage,

Madoka memes up in this! Hell yeah

msage,

Just because it’s not complete doesn’t mean it’s not going there

msage,

Valve isn’t publicly traded company, so Gaben is a BDFL.

Who knows what happens after him. But sure, if there is any other game provider with comparable service, nobody will complain.

It’s just there aren’t any

msage,

Use Mint. It’s Ubuntu without the corpo BS.

msage,

Yeah, like Calamity for Terraria.

My brother in christ, OG Terraria was never this fucking tough to beat. People created new layers of difficulty for bosses, like how is that cheating. It took me about 100 hours to beat that game while duplicating resources, because it was so hard. Even next-class weapons and armor didn’t make late-game bosses easy. But oh boy how great was the feeling of defeating the SCal. That was many years ago, I don’t even know if they added another fuckton of content.

msage,

Oh I remember this YT channel that had weekly showcases for Skyrim mods.

Sure, skimpy and booby mods were plenty, but some added better textures, luminescence and shadows, sky details, just everything imaginable.

When Bethesda released the ‘upgraded’ Skyrim, they made a vid of selected mods that for free gave much better visual experience than IIRC $40 ‘re-release’.

And that’s just graphics. Add quests, items, NPCs, areas, everything else you might want.

What's the difference between package manager and why are there so many?

Are they so different that it’s justified to have so many different distributions? So far I guess that different package manager are the reason that divides the linux community. One may be on KDE and one on GNOME but they can use each other’s packages but usually you are bound to one manager

msage,

Also, bit part of Portage (Gentoo “emerge”) is being able to ‘flag out’ parts of the package out (or in) to the compilation.

Let’s say you want to not have telemetry in your packages. So you set ‘-telemetry’ globally, and each package that has known telemetry parts will not compile locally - so it can not be turned on (unless it’s hidden really well).

Or you want to use pulseaudio? You can flag it globally, or for specific packages. That way you can influence software you install without knowing much about anything build-related - the work is done by the repository maintainers.

They won’t be able to pry Gentoo from my cold dead hands. Arch, Nix/Guix can suck it, all my money goes to the Gentoo

msage,

Sure, but such optimizations won’t usually matter a lot. I have no hard data on that, but would still prefer having smaller binaries from removing unnecessary BS to having CPU optimizations.

Fortunately I got both ^^ And the system feels a lot more responsive to Ubuntu, but I never ran any benchmarks to prove that.

msage,

It does. Unfortunately I don’t spend as much time on my PC lately.

Also I still use binary blobs like Steam.

msage,

Even 5.3 was good enough.

4 was hilariously bad though

msage,

To stop people from going to extreme lenghts, you need to give them something to lose.

Those people lost everything, of course they will fight by any means necessary

msage,

You put that ‘/s’ one sentence too late

msage,

I’m sorry, absolutely off-topic question, but is your username ‘microwave’?
