It’s only on Android, OP is asking for iOS.

There’s 2FAS. It’s open source, available on Android and iOS as well as on desktop through the browser extension.

But even if you try to sideload a Google app to update it, it won’t install unless the signature used matches the original. So it doesn’t really matter where it comes from at this point, unless the Google certs to sign their apps got somehow leaked.

Maybe that’s gonna push Apple to provide a mode where less post-processing is applied. Not the kind of stuff the average user will want to use, but at least having that option would be nice.

I like Molex.

Said no one ever.

Some will never know the pain of hitting the outside of their hand on a sharp corner inside a computer case while pulling on one of these.

There are clear benefits from hosting and controlling the instance, but then you need to dedicate resources to moderation if you can’t find enough volunteers.

It’s mostly about commitment and resources.

I mostly use Organic Maps for navigating and sometimes for editing stuff on-the-go.

With the ability to limit the poll to users of a specific instance and/or subscribers from a community (that were subscribed prior to the poll’s creation).

That way it greatly reduces the amount of users trying to brigade a vote. Can’t do much against sleeper/inactive accounts subscribed just for that purpose, but that at least require some planning.

I’d archive them first, then you can decide when and where to repost it

You can create one, and as soon as the ball starts to roll you can ask if someone wants to take over and become the mod.

  1. Make sure the time and timezone is correctly set on your device, TOTP is time-dependent and both the server and the smartphone needs to have the same time in order to validate the code.
  2. Lemmy uses SHA256 instead of SHA1 like most other websites using TOTP. Honestly I’m not sure Google Authenticator supports it, as I don’t see the option when attempting to add a key manually.

You can also use ghe YaRSS2 plugin to monitor RSS feeds with torrent files/magnet links and have each rule downloads to a specific directory. Quite useful for TV shows.

The classic small business trying to save some pennies by cheaping out on the important stuff like backups, despite several attempts at reasoning them, by ultimately ending up crumbling after a system failure.

Ah so that’s why Connect for Lemmy was unable to display my frontpage despite being “logged in”. Signin out of the account and signing back in fixed it

The link starts with otpauth://, which will likely do nothing on desktop. Either click on it from a mobile device, or on desktop you can use an addon like Offline QR Code Generator (Firefox), then right-click the link and select QR code from link. This will show a QR code you’ll be able to enroll in any TOTP app. Hopefully they’ll add an option to display a QR code when using the desktop interface in newer versions of Lemmy.

Try with that link on Lemmy

Hey everyone, I applied to be part of the moderation team and this is my introduction :

I’ve been working as a system administrator for roughly a decade. I like to keep things tidy and well maintained, and I’m a big proponent of open source and open data. My current Lemmy account is fairly new, but that because I switched from a previous account that is 4 years old (see my Lemmy bio). I’ve also been a Reddit moderator on a sub of roughly 100k users before I mostly gave up on Reddit. Here’s my OSM profile.

Contributing to OSM feels like to me as a great way to contribute to my local area by keeping things up to date, and by offering a good alternative to the commercial players like Google and Apple Maps.

If you need some help on how to update or publish some data on OSM feel free to ask, and we’re always open to suggestion :)

The server was upgraded to Lemmy 0.18.1, tried clearing your browser’s cache and/or logging out and back in.

I went to a wedding last week and I was one of the very few who was actually watching the procession with my own eyes rather through a camera app.

Exactly why that during our wedding we made a PSA to not take pictures or videos, and we have a dedicated professional taking care of that and we’ll give access to those photos after.

Android user here, I’m quite happy with Connect for Lemmy

The official community is at /c/lemmyconnect

Subscribe pending will happen if the remote instance was unable to acknowledge the subscription request, either because of an outage or the server was overloaded. It won’t really matter on your end, you’ll still be subscribed and see the community in your subscription list. It’s probably going to affect how many subscribers the original instance sees for that community.

Good luck, and happy Canada day!
