It might just be easier to find a copy on the high seas than dealing with the DRM.

Which implies the presence of government influence like in some authoritarian states. I doubt the US government is dictating their editorial lines.

I enjoy listening to the news once in a while in the evening while drinking a coffee after supper. I like just putting it on and not having to make a “choice”.

They’re not defederated, only specific communities are blacklisted from syncing on lemmy.world.

If they were, they wouldn’t be able to post in any lemmy.world communities or even comment on any posts of lemmy.world.

And even if you get a VPS, there is a money trail coming right back at you unless you pay with cryptocurrencies (and even with cryptocurrencies, it’s not impossible to trace it back).

And there’s nothing stopping the VPS provider from cancelling your service if they get too many inquiries from anti-piracy groups about traffic coming from your VPS and keeping the balance of the money you spent.

One thing I found that helps for sharing an IPTV stream on Discord is to use OBS as an intermediary.

Instead of sharing the IPTV window directly into Discord, I capture the IPTV window in OBS to send the output of that as a virtual webcam stream, which I then share to Discord.

That seems to help with the framerate.

Cutting boards to be more specific.

Not at the moment, but some mobile clients let you filter posts linking to specific domains.

I’d suggest the following

The really important step is to make sure to export and backup your 2FA codes in a safe place.

You don’t want to be left in the mud because you lost or wiped your phone that contains the only method to get into your important accounts.

What about using an RSS reader and retrieve the news from multiple sources of your choosing?

Personally I use Inoreader and it works well for my needs, although I pay for the Supporter subscription to be ad-free for roughly $20/year.

Don’t have any expectation of privacy on a device you do not own, this applies with school & work-supplied devices.

They own the device, they set the terms.

They can’t detect if you boot into Linux

It depends what they use for monitoring. If they use Intel vPro then they can technically take over from any operating systems since it runs at the TPM/firmware level.

IMO a eInk / transflective display isn’t as sexy, but energy-wise they make so much sense to use in a watcg

If they charge more for access, they’ll pay more for contributing, right…?

Depends if the RAM is encrypted, and how secure the TPM is.

Feels like using McDonald’s kiosk with remote desktop in a virtual machine.

I won’t be able to sleep tonight, thanks.

Anonfiles is shutting down (anonfiles.com)

After trying endlessly for two years to run a file sharing site with user anonymity we have been tired of handling the extreme volumes of people abusing it and the headaches it has created for us. Maybe it is hard to understand but after tens of million uploads and many petabytes later all work of handling abuse was automated...

I’m not hyped for the game but I’m still curious to play it down the road once the inevitable and glaring bugs from the launch are patched.

It doesn’t fit well into my life. With work, the kids and all the responsibilities that comes with it I can’t afford to sink a lot of time into it, so if I get a game I’ll focus on single-player games, or I’ll go with multiplayer games with a co-op to at least enjoy the game without it being a competition.

What are some things that can be done with blank dvds, nowadays?

So my family has a few containers of unused blank dvds that are just lying around collecting dust. i know dvds are almost useless because of streaming, but can they still be used. Theses dvds can only be written to once and they only have like 3 gb of storage on them, can they still be used?, do they have a use?
