kn33,

Yeah, what’s with the weather? I want to know the temperature outside without going back to my car’s home screen.

kn33,

I can deal with standard cold and the snow. It’s the lack of sun and extreme colds that get me. Minnesota’s a good place, but Colorado looks awful tempting.

Mr Miles said he would ask the company to consider how the government - which has a self-set target of reaching one million Welsh speakers by 2050 - could support the development of the course, working with the National Center for Learning Welsh. Last year’s Census figures showed that there were 24,000 fewer Welsh speakers compared to a decade ago and a report earlier this year said there was doubt about reaching the target. Mr Miles added: "Duolingo is a valuable resource that can help learners on their journey to become Welsh speakers, alongside other language learning opportunities. Language tutor Richard Morse was one of those who worked for several years to put the course content together.

kn33,

Where’s Caribou? This is Minnesota erasure.

kn33,

Yeah, but also things that were probably out there anyway. They essentially got a customer list.

kn33,

What I want to know is how malware got on Steam. If it really played out like they say, some of the blame should be on Valve.

kn33,

What do they have to do with this?

kn33,

Then get contacts? Or be blind then idk not a lot of options

kn33,

This was incredibly predictable

kn33,

It’s common, but it’s also common to require payment up front or refuse service to businesses with bad credit and/or financial reputation.

kn33,

I need to care for myself as well as him.

This is important. Sort of a “put your own oxygen mask on before helping others put theirs on”

kn33,

Right? I don’t respect cops in general, but I still have a speeding ticket on my record.

kn33,

How would cutting off the GPS antenna help?

kn33,

I got a girlfriend who has a dog, so mission accomplished in a roundabout way

kn33,

That’s one of the things I’m most excited about, too

kn33,

“Fuck, guess I gotta look inward. Alright, what do we got?”

kn33,

My understanding is that defederation only affects content that’s native to the instance that was defederated. So in your example, users of instance A and instance C would be able to interact on instance C.

kn33,

I want something similar to multi-reddits. I want to mix and match communities to my hearts desire into one big feed. I also want to combine duplicate communities from different instances to the same feed.

kn33,

:q!

My dreams are weird, that shit can stay there

kn33,

It wouldn’t surprise me at all to find out that they are trying to make trans people look bad.

kn33,

According to prosecutors, Pazienza attacked Gustern after storming out of a nearby park, where she and her fiance had been eating meals from a food cart.

This is speculation, but sounds like maybe she got in an argument or was angry about something and was storming off somewhere. NYC is crowded and if you’re angry, trying to get somewhere, and not composed (getting into the mindset here, not what I really think) then “this old bitch in my way fuckin’ move arrrggg!” shove

Obviously, there’s nothing right about it and most of the time people behave themselves, even when they’re angry. Sometimes, though, they don’t. This isn’t a justification in any sense - more of a speculation in furtherance of an attempt at comprehension.

Weak IP Address Evidence Collapses 'Non-Responsive Movie Pirates' Lawsuit TorrentFreak (torrentfreak.com)

Voltage Holdings has lost its appeal against a 2022 Canada Federal Court decision that denied default judgment against a number of unnamed internet subscribers. Voltage claimed that the internet users, who all received two prior infringement notices, shared the movie ‘Revolt’ on BitTorrent or authorized someone else with...

kn33,

For CG-NAT, it wouldn’t even be possible for the ISP to identify the account that committed the alleged infringement without logging traffic, right?

California's new mental health court rolls out to high expectations and uncertainty (apnews.com)

An alternative mental health court program designed to fast-track people with untreated schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders into housing and medical care — potentially without their consent — kicked off in seven California counties, including San Francisco, on Monday....

kn33,

…into housing and medical care — potentially without their consent — kicked off…

If the alternative is prison - also presumably without their consent - then it seems weird to highlight that as a concern.

kn33,

Idk, but my homelab thanks it for the free ZTN and workers.

kn33,

Different people have different priorities. Sure, pay and benefits is a factor that just about everyone considers. The difference lies in the weight that factor holds for them compared to other factors such as a genuine enjoyment from their work, wishing to avoid taking from the strike fund, or any other factor that matters to them.

For most people, the consideration works out in favor of a strike. In a large enough population, though, it won’t for some people. 95%+ is really good. Let’s take it and not alienate those that didn’t vote for it. That leads to attrition of the union.

kn33,

The members are the union, though? So the union is managing the fund and deciding when it’s necessary through this vote.

kn33,

That’d be quarantining. They’re talking about a tabletop game with colored shapes on black square tiles that are arranged in lines.

kn33,

Assuming that nothing nefarious happens, I can still see this being a problem if the translations aren’t top quality. Imagine that speakers of another language are offended or you’re embarrassed in front of them because something you said was incorrectly translated; then it’s rendered in your voice so it seems you said it.

kn33,

Hot water could be worse than cold for the same reason that a fart smells worse in the shower.

kn33,

How junk is the tablet? Is the OS new enough that you can set the private DNS to dns.adguard.com? If you can do that, Pandora can be ad-free.

kn33,

Joke’s on you - I don’t have Unity knowledge

kn33,

Ubiquiti, but cut off from the Internet and manual upgrades if you’re worried about privacy

Do other people ever have the experience of simulating yourself doing something in your head, and then doing it in real life exactly how you imagined it?

I’m thinking about sports as an example. I used to do fencing, and sometimes we would learn a new technique or I would imagine one to do, and I would imagine myself doing it, then it was almost like autopilot where my body would do it just how I imagined, like it was easy. It didn’t happen very often but when it did it felt...

kn33,

Yeah but I have bad self confidence so I don’t expect it to work how I imagine and I’m surprised when it does

kn33,

Denial will do shit to a mofo

Would you be buried alive for 48hr for a million dollars?

You are buried in a coffin 6ft deep, with no light or cell phone. There is only a small tube connected to the coffin from outside that allows you to breathe (edit: you can breathe with no difficulty). After 48 hours, you are dug up and given 1 million dollars. Do you do it?...

kn33,

Is the air tube mechanically assisted? I’m not sure I could handle the effort of basically pumping air 6ft back and forth with my lungs for 48 hours.

The idiom of "doesn't grow on trees" as a metaphor for scarcity falls apart when you realize that food does grow on trees yet is still very scarce.

Extremely not-fun fact: collectively, humanity currently produces more than enough food for every person. But a huge part of it is either wasted or inaccessible by people that need them, which usually results in them not going to anyone and being wasted, which is why we still have food scarcity.

kn33,

If you aren’t already doing it, I’d recommend that you turn on the setting to block screenshots and only turn it off when you’re intentionally taking one.

kn33,

Good. We can’t give people reasons to not call EMS.

kn33,

On Windows, I like NAPS2. I haven’t tried it on Linux, though

kn33,

omg they made the Factorio spidertron irl

kn33,

Every time I think about how I’d have to drive to do this, the nicest reaction I come up with is “nah, not worth it”. Also the people that draft semis are stupid mofos.

kn33,

Me driving: “Is anyone around? Cause if not I’m about to pull some real bullshit.”

kn33,

I read the bill. It cuts off at 19 regardless.

kn33,

When I was on my parents insurance, the first 1-2 fills of the year were $11/pill and ~$1.20/pill after that (20mg). Now that I’m on my own insurance, it’s $2.50/pill year round.

That means if I take it every day, it’s ~$900/year

kn33,

This made me laugh pretty good. Thanks for that.

kn33,

I mean, sure, but that’s not ideal for us
