Well that was a fascinating little trip down memory lane. Thanks for the link.

khannie,
@khannie@lemmy.world avatar

Ireland’s pretty decent if it comes to it. Culturally reasonably similar, English speaking and most importantly, not England.

Only messing, neighbours ;)

khannie,
@khannie@lemmy.world avatar

I woke up in my mother’s arms.

khannie,
@khannie@lemmy.world avatar

Jesus that is scummy as fuck :(

khannie,
@khannie@lemmy.world avatar

More details starting to come in now. Graham Dale was his name. Moved to the US in 2000 and previously served in the US Marine Corps for 6 years.

khannie,
@khannie@lemmy.world avatar

I feel this deep in my soul.

khannie,
@khannie@lemmy.world avatar

I treated myself to one of the NASA sets last year for Christmas. Sat down with my best friend and we built the moon lander. It was great.

Treat yo’self

khannie,
@khannie@lemmy.world avatar

That sounds fantastic.

khannie,
@khannie@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah it was a good one :)

khannie,
@khannie@lemmy.world avatar

That is not creepy at all! What a beautiful animal. Thanks for posting. Brightened my morning :)

khannie,
@khannie@lemmy.world avatar

Nice! That sounds like a great tradition. Might yoink it for ourselves.

khannie,
@khannie@lemmy.world avatar

It is so heartening to see others with my drawing skill level.

Congrats on the win.

khannie,
@khannie@lemmy.world avatar

I feel you.

All my kids are ridiculously good artists. Like my 9 year old is easily better than me (honestly for some years now. Jesus I’m that bad) and my eldest is a bloody graphic designer.

I can draw a decent heart. Good old trusty heart. It’s basically good for any card.

Christmas heart. Mother’s day heart. Birthday heart. Good old trusty heart. Never lets me down.

What phone do you sugest for your grandparents?

I got a task to buy a smart phone for my grandparents, they are not techsavy but they know how to use basic functions. Iam looking for an andoid because it has language pack i need. I dont need it to have lots of functions, onley a good camera and a big screen. Bonus points if it can be flashed with some kind of simplefied...

khannie,
@khannie@lemmy.world avatar

My mother is 84. I got her a Motorola phone for around €170 / $180 and did the setup for her (increase text size, setup whatsapp etc.). It is perfect. Main consideration was a decent battery life, reasonable camera and a not awful processor.

At her age all she wants is phone calls, texts, youtube and whatsapp and most androids in that price range or higher ticks those boxes IMO.

khannie,
@khannie@lemmy.world avatar

I like the way there’s some turning of the screw in the announcement on trying to get the new aid package through.

khannie,
@khannie@lemmy.world avatar

Apparently so. €760 per month is the minimum monthly wage in Portugal. Works out at less than €5 per hour if you assume 160 hours per month which seems very low. For reference, Ireland is €11.30. While cost of living is higher here you can still pick up a full uncooked chicken for around €5 depending on the shop.

Local supermarket here does 4 chicken legs for €2.55.

khannie,
@khannie@lemmy.world avatar

GOOD GOD!

How big is a chicken there though?

khannie,
@khannie@lemmy.world avatar

Thanks. Yeah that is a big assed chicken for Ireland tbh but it’s still more expensive overall.

I feel like you guys have been badly burned by price gouging. I remember seeing a thing on Reddit about egg prices skyrocketing and they had barely budged here so I found it odd.

khannie,
@khannie@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah even Ireland sent troops to Ukraine to train them. It bothers me that we didn’t send weapons but there is no moral ambiguity here.

A sovereign nation was invaded in an attempt to redraw borders and kill their democratically elected leader. Absolutely fuck that. Arm them to the teeth.

@khannie@lemmy.world avatar

Kiki Bouba

I read the linked page fully. Absolutely fascinating stuff.

@khannie@lemmy.world avatar

I’d say some of that drop was punters like me who were already gaming on Linux and have just moved over to the deck now.

I have a dock for mine and it’s really the only thing I use for gaming now as my laptop is very old.

khannie,
@khannie@lemmy.world avatar

The goggles! They do nothing!

khannie,
@khannie@lemmy.world avatar

POW! Right in the kisser.

Not many confirmed destroyed on Oryx either so a nice thing to take out.

[DISCUSSION] What director(s) do you think have the best filmography?

I was checking out the new season of Fargo, which made me want to rewatch the 1996 movie and I got to thinking, the Coen Brothers have a fantastic filmography. They have way more hits than misses and they make some of the most interesting movies out there. No Country for Old Men is probably one of my favorites of all time. So...

khannie,
@khannie@lemmy.world avatar

First person that sprang to mind for me. I find them to be real visual eye candy.

Is there any way I can make an old XMMS plugin work in any modern player?

Long story short, I learned there is an XMMS release of a plugin I use in Winamp for music playback (mp3PRO). Sadly, I recoded most of my music to mp3PRO back in the day, and now I’m stuck using Winamp, even on Linux. I like the player, wouldn’t change it, but I wanted to switch to something native, like Audacious or Qmms....

khannie,
@khannie@lemmy.world avatar

You could compress the wav to flac without losing anything. It’ll still be a lot larger that the MP3 though.

Maybe give it a whirl with a few and see how it works out.

khannie,
@khannie@lemmy.world avatar

If it doesn’t work out or you find yourself tight on space in the future you can always recompress to mp3 or ogg and take the quality hit at that point.

khannie,
@khannie@lemmy.world avatar

Well I’m sick in bed and that was time well spent. Thanks!

khannie,
@khannie@lemmy.world avatar

Not normally one to, but I take such delight in seeing his discomfort. He’s a horrible human being.

khannie,
@khannie@lemmy.world avatar

Well that was a fascinating watch. Thanks for the link. I’ll definitely be watching more of his videos.

khannie,
@khannie@lemmy.world avatar

I watched TNG through fully with my daughter when she was 12, one episode most nights. She’s nearly 17 now and absolutely shocked that I can send her banger Star Trek memes daily.

LOVE this place and all the posters. Thank you!

khannie,
@khannie@lemmy.world avatar

Definitely happens in Ireland. Anywhere populations are small you’re going to face teachers potentially having to teach their own kids at some point.

khannie,
@khannie@lemmy.world avatar

Woah, woah. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves here. I mean it’s certainly an excellent stick, but bacon? I mean c’mon now.

Although having said that, if offered bacon or this stick it’s hard to say which direction I’d go.

khannie,
@khannie@lemmy.world avatar

Wow. That is intense as fuck.

khannie,
@khannie@lemmy.world avatar

The site looked mined to me. You can vaguely see them at the start and the man walks very carefully around the vehicle before the explosion.

Edit: on rewatch it’s hard to tell but I still think a mine is a reasonable guess

khannie,
@khannie@lemmy.world avatar

Hi Bob

khannie,
@khannie@lemmy.world avatar

I enjoyed season 3. Looking forward to the new season. Different strokes for different folks I suppose.

khannie,
@khannie@lemmy.world avatar

Was on Ublu Kinoite Main38 when F38 went into beta.

I’m not even sure if you’re taking the piss or that’s a real thing

khannie,
@khannie@lemmy.world avatar

Love Hodges. He’s clear, articulate and has a great view of the big picture that he communicates well. He did a great interview with the Times Radio youtube channel there a while back. This one is good too.

Really wish he was listened to more instead of all the pandering that has happened over the last 2 years.

khannie,
@khannie@lemmy.world avatar

Ireland here. Can confirm.
