Seeing the other post here about YouTuber that went downhill and seeing content creators I am familiar with makes me sad. But how about those that still makes great, high quality content?
Kind of a trend, the amount of youtubers who i had loved but their content became generic after gaining popularity is quite a bit, most drastic one being mrwhosetheboss, his uniqueness went down faster than MH27 MH17
Yeah, he is more about outrage content these days it seems. What he is railing against is usually something I broadly agree is bad from the sounds of it. But he rarely goes any deeper than “this article or 2 claims this corpo is fucking us, you should steal their shit, move to another state, or just in general be as unproductively outraged as me about it.”
And he has started to branch so far into things he doesn’t really know anything about at times that he is either flat out wrong, or so uninformed as to not have an opinion worth listening to on the subject to begin with.
He seems to want to be some kind of investigative journalist reporting on the wrongs of the big guy, but he doesn’t want to leave his house and risk getting into uncomfortable real world situations to do it unless it is a hearing about right to repair. You don’t find Rossman doing much deep diving into details, just surface level rage baiting I guess is what I am trying to say.
When it comes to tablets, if it is not an iPad, Galaxy Tab S, or Pixel tablet don’t waste the money period. Everything else is pushed out the door and forgotten about by the OEM before the delivery truck leaves the warehouse.
To me, things like ChatGPT are just more efficient ways to search sites they scrap data from like Stack Overflow. If they ever drive enough traffic away from their sources to kill the sources the likes of ChatGPT will become mostly useless.
Nowadays I find a lot of games feel like too much work and/or anxiety when I just want to relax for like, 30 minutes to an hour after a long day. On the other hand, the games specifically designed to help you unwind just feel boring imo....
Shady service turns out to be insecure and shady. I’m shocked. The real take away from this is if Nothing thought this was a good idea, what other horrible things have they done to their ROM we haven’t found out about yet.
It really is a mind fuck that I could walk out into the middle of the street in broad daylight in full view of 100 people, shoot someone in the head at point blank range, killing them and still end up with less time than this guy will most likely get so long as the person I murdered wasn’t well to do financially.
Someone needs to remind Scorsese that he makes an entertainment product, one of many, he is not redefining the meaning of life itself. Hell, here is a hot take, the old Jim Carrey movie “The Mask” is a better movie than anything Scorsese has ever made. I can say I go back to watch The Mask more anyway. He needs to stop huffing his own farts.
It is gonna be a rough time for Android whenever Nova’s new owners get around to trying to come up with ways to “monetize “ Nova further. I wonder how many people would pay $10/month for a launcher.
Not in total. But I also don’t think it is the king maker these investors are making it out to be. Just like Crypto, it is a tool that can enhance and improve things when applied to the right things in the right ways. It is not some magic bullet that is the easy button that the investor snake that is currently eating its tail speculating over it would have everyone believe.
That is the thing with for profit companies, especially publicly traded ones. No matter how much they make, it is never enough. Next quarter must always be higher than this quarter or the world is on fire and heads will roll.
A lot of my personal dislike for VIM would be done away with if it just had a helpful common keys cheat sheet (basic cursor navigation, edit mode, exit with and without saving, etc) at the bottom of the editor window like Nano does.
Would be more exciting and worth paying attention to if Google Fiber wasn’t basically living in an iron lung over at Alphabet these days since they halted major expansion.
Ours is terrible for making security policy that will impact technical solution options in a vacuum with a few select higher level IT folks and no one sorts out the process to using the new “secure” way first. Ending up in finding out something you thought would be a day or 2 task ends up being a weeks long odyssey to define new processes and technical approaches. Or sometimes just out right abandoning the work because the headache isn’t worth it.
Lack of support for SMB is about the only thing missing that I care about from it. There is an add-on app Google released years back for it, but they haven’t updated it in years and it was broken the last time I tried to use it.
Reddits bread and butter is engagement. What that engagement ends up looking like is far less important. 500 posts screaming death to women that drive is more valuable to them monetarily than 5 posts talking about feeding homeless children. Follow the money and all that.
How about the ability to create a new label within the Gmail on Android. It has been a thing forever on the iOS app, but not Android for some odd reason.
I’m not a fan of the “war” between Android and Apple when it comes to SMS/texting. The rest of the world doesn’t use SMS/RCS/iMessage as much as WhatsApp and the like, so the US is pretty much lagging behind everyone else on this anyway....
If its legal for someone to hypothetically not create a wedding announcement website for gay people because she doesn’t want to serve those kinds of people, then there should be nothing wrong with not wanting to serve armed cops.
I found this, I’m wanting to get a pixel tablet in about a week or so. Title just got me wondering a bit, though it’s probably just a little bit sensationalized
Google is making the same mistakes with the watch, fold, and tablet that they originally made when they rebranded the Nexus to the Pixel. Thinking just making it expensive and the customers will just buy it because reasons.
They seem to have come off of that delusion with most of the phones.
They have not provided a reason to buy their expensive, but middle of the road hardware, when cheaper and competitive options already exist from Samsung and Apple in these segments.
Unless someone just dislikes Apple or Samsungs offering what would make the Google offering stand out?
Probably because there is not an easy toggle to migrate a user account to a new home instance. I know there are tools for it. But it won’t matter if there is not a button on a sign up page that says “migrate from another instance” that does it for you programmaticly.
I beg you, if you are a developer of an open source app or program - add screenshots of your app to the README file. When looking for the perfect app, I had to install dozens of them just to see what the user interface looked like and whether it suits me. This will allow users to decide if the app they choose will suit them…...
Gonna get this ball rolling with low hanging fruit... For me, personally, it's gotta be Hokkaido in the reboot trilogy. My favorite aesthetics, I like how compact the level is and the way the outfits work....
I’ll be impressed when they actually allow for the installation of extensions from places other than their addon store like I can on the desktop version. Maybe in another 5 years, if Mozilla lasts that long.
Shit, if a show doesn’t interest me after 30 minutes I’m done with it. If the story only gets interesting after the forced exposition dump part of the script, then the script needed more work before they filmed it. In my opinion anyway.
Yep. People in general have an aversion to doing anything that encourages positive change if it is too inconvenient to how they have become accustom to doing things.
Companies like Alphabet are very aware of this fact. Once the limits of the push back becomes a few weeks of bitching online then everyone gets back to using the products and services, there is no reason to listen to the complaints of the users.
For a moment, it seemed like the streaming apps were the things that could save us from the hegemony of cable TV—a system where you had to pay for a ton of stuff you didn’t want to watch so you could see the handful of things you were actually interested in....
Yep. When it comes to dealing with these types of things, if it is something that can be lived without, the only winning play is to take your ball and go home.
If you’re not willing to go without watching tv, movies, playing new games, etc then these companies already own you.
Personally, I won’t go back to pirating their content. That implies what they make has more value to me than it actually does. If they make it nearly impossible to legally consume their product or service then I will take that as a sign they don’t really want to sell it and move on.
If the masses want to see change, then they should do likewise. Even if it doesn’t change the world, there is real power for a persons mental well being in always being willing to walk away.
