Having read through the article, “lied” seems to be a strong claim here, especially since the article does not state that either. He has an engineering degree, has the iron ring and has worked as an engineer designing morherboards.

Apparently because he is not licensed in BC, he isn’t allowed to refer to himself as an engineer. That is a civil matter that has now been settled by the court, but I don’t think that counts as lying. It’s unfortunate that politics are making us so reactive and tribal these days.

This is interesting, and I’ve never heard about this before. That’s really disappointing, but from a game-theoretic sense it makes sense it played out like that. If Trudeau did in fact opted for a popular vote instead of using his majority power, I can respect that, even if it blew up in all our faces.

Like everything these days, I realize it’s too difficult for me to understand and keep up with the complexities of modern life 😩

I saw that announcement video when it first came out and was super hyped for The Division. I didn’t end up playing it until around 2019 and I was really impressed with how close to the trailer the actual gameplay was. I know it had some controversy, but I guess I’m easy to impress lol

Ah, that’s fair. I’m a pretty casual player and didn’t really go deep beyond the medium skill levels, so I didn’t really appreciate the cut-corners beyond that. I hardly even played much multiplayer TBH, I played and loved the single-player campaigns, which is what I tend to do on most games :D

I totally get what you’re saying, and those things drive me up the wall too.

I’ve ended up curating my feed heavily, blocking and filtering words, users and communities that don’t interest me. Since then, I rarely see any of the whining. If your client supports filtering by keyword, it might dramatically improve your Lemmy experience :)

I was never particularly into the cyberpunk genre, so I was largely immune to the Cyberpunk 2077 hype, and subsequent disappointment and anger. I’d seen tons of videos of trailers and gameplay, and never really expected to play the game myself.

I built a beast of a new PC a few days ago and picked up CP2077 on sale to put it through its paces. I loaded up Cyberpunk and my jaw was on the floor. This is the most beautiful game I’ve ever seen! The gameplay feels smooth and satisfying and I’m really engrossed in the lore and environment. Of course, I’m playing the 2.1 patched version of the game, so I don’t know what the experience at launch would have been like. Regardless, so far it’s felt like an incredible game!

Wait, if it’s double-blind, wouldn’t the scientists be unaware of whether he got a placebo or the real drug? Although I suppose this could be after the study has concluded. I would bet that in real studies they record the side effects reported before checking to see if it was the placebo or not!

Sure, but that’s just the placebo effect? I thought the double-blind process referred to something else in particular (hence the “double” part of the blind):

A double-blind study blinds both the subjects as well as the researchers to the treatment allocation [1]

In any case, I was mostly just curious, don’t intend to nit-pick the title :)

Ironically this image is doing what the influencer is supposed to be doing, which is ragebaiting for virality. I’m pretty sure the cigarettes in last two pictures are completely photoshopped precisely so that people fume and rant. I’m willing to bet the captions in the entire set of images is made up.
