corsicanguppy,

PPC? Buddy should’ve taken a few more humanities courses and learn about people.

villasv,

I agree with the engineer, this is kinda ridiculous.

I don’t disagree with the court decision, but the whole affair is barely newsworthy.

rbesfe,

Like it or not, engineer is a regulated title in Canada and is only allowed to be used by licensed individuals. He could have just said “I have an engineering background” and been fine.

Having read through the article, “lied” seems to be a strong claim here, especially since the article does not state that either. He has an engineering degree, has the iron ring and has worked as an engineer designing morherboards.

Apparently because he is not licensed in BC, he isn’t allowed to refer to himself as an engineer. That is a civil matter that has now been settled by the court, but I don’t think that counts as lying. It’s unfortunate that politics are making us so reactive and tribal these days.

akacastor,

Although to many of us who aren’t engineers, some of the rules may not be obvious and it may look like an honest oversight - if you know any engineers, they have these rules absolutely drilled into them by the time they’ve earned a degree.

For someone with no engineering background to make a mistake like this is easy to explain. When someone with an engineering degree does it - they absolutely did know what they were doing is against professional regulations.

David Hilderman is a liar.
