I had an issue logging into Twitch last night for the first time in a while. I just didn’t get any 2FA messages delivered to me, until about 12 hours later when I was asleep and they were probably long invalidated. and now suddenly I can’t log in to my MVD either. Apparently there’s some sort of SMS short+long code outage...
Good to know. I’ll set that up once I can actually log in. I haven’t messed with my account in years but I definitely would have used something else if it’d been available when I set up.
I’ll go first. Mine is that I can’t stand the Deadpool movies. They are self aware and self referential to an obnoxious degree. It’s like being continually reminded that I am in a movie. I swear the success of that movie has directly lead to every blockbuster having to have a joke every 30 seconds
I'm on a smaller instance or at least feels small as sometimes we don't have posts for over 10 minutes, How would I find other Communities & Users to follow to get content I may enjoy?
Go to lemmyverse.net, fill in your instance, and click the links to communities that sound interesting. It’ll open them in your instance and get them federated so your server starts getting those updates.
My father, who convinced me (16 m) at the time to move in with him instead of my mother when they moved. All 3 of the other siblings stayed with my mother. He then kicked me out the week I turned 18, a week into my senior year. Since then he stays in touch only to speak with his grandchildren (now going on 4 kids). I have never...
I’ve done both and it’s possible my virtual therapy sessions were an outlier but I’d strongly recommend at least starting with in-person. I just didn’t find virtual anywhere near as effective as face to face with another person.
Seems pointless and inconvenient for me as they usually seem to be poor quality, and can you really listen to music in the shower, and are you showering long enough to benefit from it?...
I’ve used one for podcasts, definitely. But even for music, they may be poor quality generally but they’re significantly better than a phone speaker, and much better than a phone speaker ten feet away through glass or plastic.
I guess I mean anything nearly guaranteed to risk grievous injury like getting hit by a bus or something. If I can still use the 7.5mil after the day’s over I’ll do it all.
I rocked a Samsung Alias 2 for 4 years before I got an iPhone 5. The e-ink keyboard was awesome how it changed when you flipped the screen open to portrait or landscape.
I’m so excited for this to release, and yet terrified that I’m going to lose another few hundred hours (per week?) to this game when I get back into it.
For anyone who did not think about it beforehand and struggled as me. You can run KDE Connect on your machine and send keyboard and mouse inputs using kde connect. Almost 0 input lag. So you can do all you need....
My pure guess would be that the 90hz of the display is in play here. Could be the memory too, but the display is the most obvious potential lag factor.
True. And the limited translucent case is one of the most attractive things making it seem time sensitive, but they also made it easier to replace those bits this time around too, so I will have more personalized options later on.
It’s not so much this article as it is all the articles I’ve seen and expect to see in the future about the ways it’s actually better despite Valve saying it’s not actually that much better.
I’m at a friend’s house for the night and was invited to an among us group. Installed among us and discord, had everything working (after a restart) within 10 minutes. I was shocked that simply adding a keybind for mute/deafen just worked. Yet another “it’s just a computer” moment. I’ll have to get that discord...
In case you’re out of the loop, the old Steam Deck had Philips screws that screwed into self-tapping plastic holes. This lead to occasional stripped threads and often stripped screwheads....
Yeah I definitely took breaks and actually just never went back after a certain point. Not because it was too intense directly, but one of my breaks, I just never went back.
Even without VRR there are noticeable improvements on the LCD deck from running at 60hz even when frame rates dip heavily, just because the frame timing is shorter so the new frames can be showed sooner.
It’s likely because some light fixtures that emit a ton of UV light also look “cool” and get used in the wrong setting. They’re supposed to be for stuff like disinfection. Looks like the bulbs outlining the dj both could be the issue. It wouldn’t be any of the professional fixtures. (Pic in comments because I don’t...
Fortunately not really, in my case. I stay out of the pipelines game as much as possible and focus on systems that enable better and more obvious pipelines. And then sometimes go tune some pipelines but mostly I find them to be pretty atrocious UI and much too snowflakey.
Aw man I’ve been making this joke thinking I’m clever for years but I read xkcd pretty frequently. I must have inadvertently stolen the joke from Randall.
Was just thinking about this while taking a boring regular shower with water. A sonic shower just vibrates at high intensity to pulverize dirt and knock it from your body; but what about oils and lipids and all that other stuff that makes you stinky?...
He spent 75 million for the house next to one he already owned. He’s worth $156 billion.
Let’s say you have 100k in the bank. The equivalent purchase for you would be something costing roughly $50. He bought a mansion worth more than I’ll ever see for proportionally less than what I would spend on an AAA video game.
Oh and it’ll either hold value or appreciate, so he will likely just make more money on it. Or at the very least pay relatively a lot less once he decides to sell.
Yeah that’s fair. But also it’s realistically vastly more complicated and almost incomparable because with $156B you can actually manipulate markets to improve your returns. People will buy your house at a premium to say they own Jeff Bezos’ previous property. Etc. Beyond the direct ratio comparison, there are so many fundamentally inequal parts about wealth at that scale.
Say he earns less than a high yield savings account for a year (~4.5% currently), he can retire on only that year’s income with over 7 billion in the bank and this purchase would be more like someone with 100k saved spending 1k (on a house).
As a dev, though not a game dev, I’ll wager good money this is not the outcome you’d find on a survey of the game devs involved. It’s the kind of thing that devs will suggest when asked “okay let’s say we need to make this next iteration as cheaply as possible now, what could we do?” But most of the devs likely take pride in their craft and if given the time would definitely want to optimize their game.
But look, guys, you asked for this by saying you want us to pay staff better. We will, but first we need to increase some prices heavily because I only took this CEO job because of the juicy bonus and I’m definitely not giving that up. Would you? And don’t forget the board we’re so lucky to have who need their stipends and stock grants etc, lest they find other companies willing to bow to their demands. We wouldn’t be who we are if we didn’t keep paying the top dogs top dollar.
I asked Valve about how they might approach solving this problem if it was their game and they literally ran away from me while yelling something that sounded vaguely like “Modern Warfare Alyx.”
I couldn’t find the Flintstones movie from 1994 anywhere but googling it I found it here archive.org/details/the-flintstones_202304 and you can either download it via torrent or directly. On top of it it says that the movie is CC0 which means Public Domain. But that can’t really be, it’s only 29 years old....
I assume you’re joking because that’s not really how Lemmy works, for anyone who may not know. My instance is my own, for example. I’m replying to you via Lemmy running on a server I own.
