I’ve been on Lemmy and Mastodon for a little while but still not super active on either, and haven’t really kept up with fediverse stuff as a whole....
Du machst dir die Welt aber schon sehr einfach. Kann ich aber nachvollziehen wenn ich mir die Berichterstattung aus Deutschland zu diesem Thema so angucke.
The nearly 45-metre-high monument has dominated the Bulgarian capital’s landscape for the past 70 years. Still, the new pro-EU coalition government began the process of dismantling it after being motivated by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine....
I’d say for me it would depend what the monument stands for. Does it stand for soviet fight and win against the nazis then I’d want them to keep it. But if it stands for the soviet occupation of Bulgaria then I’d want it to go.
My only budgeting is to earn much more than I spent so I don’t have to think too much about it. That means that I live quite frugal and other than food don’t really buy much on a regular basis.
there were things involved like moving a couple of times between countries, a divorce, refocusing on a different career to be able to get where I wanted to be.
Perhaps we misunderstand each other, It took me 20 years to get to the point that all my budgeting is that I earn much more money than that I spent so that I never need to think about budgeting. It’s not only about rent and food.
I don’t think advertising the entire blog makes sense, but instead posting links to specific posts in the appropriate lemmy/reddit/facebook/mastodon community/group ao people get something out of it and then subscribe for more.
I use mine during work hours, right before bed, and toilet time. After that I sometimes forget where it is. I don't take it with me into places like movies, restaurants, ball games, etc...
Today is the first day of our holidays. Tomorrow we pack to go to Germany. We’re trying to get the baby to sleep since 8pm, now it’s 11pm and it looks like he will fall asleep soon....
In the end the baby fell asleep at 11:30 pm so there was no time for any movie left, we fell asleep exhausted. But we downloaded some of your suggestions so perhaps one of us will have time to watch something on the plane.
Thanks for engaging and giving so many different tips!
It’s a nice country and my parents live there. We have a baby and they never met him so we’re going for three weeks over Christmas so they can meet him and us.
Sometimes I find a meme or a photo on Lemmy which I’d like to share with people who are not on Lemmy. But when I share a link to something with a picture like lemmy.world/post/9593902 and someone clicks on it, they see a very small thumbnail and a title, it’s not clear that you’re supposed to click on that thumbnail to see...
Das stimmt doch nicht. Wenn die instanz versucht zu subscriben dann wird sie nicht in die liste aufgenommen und somit bei neuen Inhalten nicht benachrichtigt.
I’d also be interested in switching. I even thought about hosting it myself but it’s kind of a lot of work and I shifted to only using AntennaPod on one phone for podcasts so I wouldn’t get much out of it. I still like to have the list of podcasts I subscribe to backed up on gpodder so when I switch phones I don’t need to import/export anything.
What do you use on the desktop to listen to podcasts which is compatible with gpodder? My biggest problem is that even if gpodder syncs the list of podcasts I’m subscribed to, it doesn’t sync listened/not listened nor timestamp for listening now or anything like that.
Threads seems to be beginning to test ActivityPub federation, and since Kbin can be used for microblogging, this affects kbin.social. What are your thoughts on federating or defederating with them?
I would really love a app for Android TV, sure I can use NewPipe but you can’t log in to your instance with it so it’s complicated to get anything internal or private to show up on your TV. I have a workaround to stream from the phone tube.jeena.net/w/cxN9SHB96ynPaS8CYdHBmH but it’s more often than not is buffering for ever, etc.
I’m not sure about Signal being the one, then we just give the power from one company (Apple) to another (Signal). If we want to improve then we should push open protocols where people can host their own infrastructure.
Disclaimer: I like the Fediverse, Lemmy, and the concept of federation, I’ve been here for two years, and I feel grateful towards people working on this platform - devs and admins and mods and everyone else. As such, I hope that what I’m voicing is interpreted as constructive criticism and food for discussion....
Alternative would be that defederation happens on user- not admin level, which we’re getting closer to with 0.19 where users can block instances and don’t need to rely on the admin. This hopefully will lower the need for admins to defederate so many instances them selves.
I’m on Arch Linux and use Firefox. I just upgraded to version 120 and what happened is that If I open a tab the whole tab indicator suddenly takes the full width of the title bar so I can’t really grab the window and move it anymore....
Ok, I finally created a new profile and in that profile it’s not full width. Now I guess I need to compare the two profiles somehow to figure out what’s wrong with mine.
What's your wider fediverse setup?
