Tyfud,

The thing most of us like about it, was that it was very true to the comic book.

Tyfud,

Not to be confused with the great Emu War of 1932, which was the Australian Military vs Some Emus.

The Emus won.

is making the watching experience worse on and Microsoft Edge.

I didn't believe it the first time I heard abt it, since it sounded more like a conspiracy theory than a actual thing, but it's true. Google does add 5s timeout specifically to Firefox and Edge users when they try to watch a video on YT. If you want to know more about it, Mental Outlaw make a very good video abt it (Link: https://youtu.be/v4gXhmzQztE ). I think Google did this, to get people moving to Chrome since the majority will think this is a browser issue, nobody would expect YouTube to purposely doing this. In the attached Screenshot you can see that YouTube checks the user agent of browsers to see if it's Edge, Firefox or not. You can bypass this by changing your User agent to chrome.

Edit: Due a lot of people saying a lot of different things abt it, I want to say that I'm not 100% sure abt how exactly this works, there is a inbuild delay by Google, but who is actually affected, there are a lot of different opinions abt it. I wasn't able to verify this myself in LibreWolf, but this could be the case due my intensive hardening I did and this is just a result of what I found in the code and what Mental Outlaw and others shared across social media, if you got different or additional infos abt this feel free to comment and I suggest everyone ti also check the comment section.

Tyfud,

uBO filters won’t work the way they used to because Chrome’s v3 manifest will explicitly prevent them from working the way they have been.

Tyfud,

Need to trim the knobs off, but otherwise, terrific stick for sword fighting

Tyfud,

I see someone has been reading Sapiens.

Tyfud,

This is what i own. Amazing printer

Tyfud,

Make it pg13 and that’s a winner.

We need a scene where DeVito, as Navi, sings about the toll that trolls charge.

Tyfud,

It has no life to have a right to until it’s born.

Go ahead and tell me about all the experiences you had in your mother’s womb. About the goals and aspirations you had before you came out. Tell me about your experiences, your emotional fortitude, hell, tell me anything at all about the time before you were born, from your perspective.

A fetus does not have a right to life, but the mother does.

Your views are getting real people with all their dreams, aspirations, goals, hopes, etc. killed, just so you can feel a warped sense of false moral superiority for a few minutes on the Internet.

Tyfud,

That’s not what murder is, and you know it.

Stop it with this weak rhetoric.

Tyfud,

This isn’t the winning strategy you think it is.

I’d explain it, but I don’t have the time or crayons for you.

Tyfud,

They said they’re looking to go independent and would update soon

Tyfud,

This highlights the misunderstanding the world seems to have about AI taking jobs.

AI doesn’t take jobs. AI makes existing work efforts able to be done by fewer people. That’s it.

It also creates jobs in the realm of improving, supporting, and maintaining those systems.

What used to take ten people will now take one. And they’ll be specially trained to operate at that level.

Tyfud,

Going to go out on a limb and say unrestrained corporate greed

Tyfud,

What do you think they do with all that decayed meat after a few weeks?

Sausage.

Tyfud,

Yeah, most likely. This lets his rich buddies give him money for bribes and shit and it acts as “income”

Tyfud,

Firbolg Paladin. I’m good with this.

Tyfud,

That’s just one fact though. I’m pretty sure they debunked the no echo bit.

Tyfud,

Rome didn’t fall in a day. Or a year.

Takes a lot longer than most people think.

If nothing else, this shows just how well architected and built the original Twitter infrastructure was. Being able to withstand the chaos monkey that is Musk should be its own SLA tier.

Tyfud,

Those witnesses presumably weren’t stabbing other people on the side.

Tyfud,

It changes the way the pasta itself tastes, and is very different from adding it it the sauce.

Tyfud,

You’re just straight up wrong my man. Factually. You have the facts wrong. Whatever you believe here that you think makes you right, is in fact, 100%, provably, wrong. As others replying to you have pointed out and used references.

Tyfud,

He’s going to be in stiff competition with an orange jackass for cratering the US.

Tyfud, (edited )

This right here. There are no good participants in religion. Everyone participating, no matter their intent or actions, is s part of the problem. Because they enable the bad behavior by supporting the underlying common beliefs and adding some degree of legitimacy to this.

It’s the same problem with ACAB

Tyfud,

Agreed with one exception: Alone.

That’s a great show, even if it’s a reality TV show. Can’t script that shit.

Tyfud,

Nina Gaiden and adventures of Link on NES.

So damn difficult

Tyfud,

Agreed. Though judges have some leeway here, there’s nothing official that would give them an incentive to treat the cases differently other than their moral compass.

Tyfud,

This was the first one I thought of too.

Did you know that Christopher Walken used to be a professional tap dancer? The parts of the video where he’s doing that are 100% him.

Tyfud,

You absolutely nailed it. This has been my exact experience.

Tyfud,

Correct. This is largely for a time pre Musk.

Reddit users are reporting Christian websites for violating Virginia's new porn identification law, citing vulgar passages in the Bible (www.insider.com)

As more and more states pass laws targeting "pornographic material" in books and online, they are repeatedly running up against a problem: The Bible has not just a few passages that could be considered indecent

Tyfud,

Broadly speaking though, it’s true. Do you have counter examples to offer?

Tyfud,

Microsoft has been contributing a ton to FOSS the last 5 or 6 years.

Their flagship programming language, .net, is fully OSS and runs best on Linux.

Tyfud,

Old people carpet bathrooms. They do it because one of the primary places they slip and fall and hurt themselves in is the bathroom.

X/Twitter has updated its Terms of Service to let it use Posts for AI training (stackdiary.com)

Here’s the kicker: based on these AI-assigned definitions in the updated terms, your access to certain content might be limited, or even cut off. You might not see certain tweets or hashtags. You might find it harder to get your own content seen by a broader audience. The idea isn’t entirely new; we’ve heard stories of...

Tyfud,

I work in this field a good bit, and you’re largely correct. That’s a great analogy of trying to remove salt from a stew. The only issue with that analogy is that that’s technically possible still by distilling the stew and recovering the salt. Even though it would destroy the stew.

At the point that pii data is in the model, it’s fully baked. It’d be like trying to get the eggs out of a baked cake. The chemical composition has changed into something else completely.

That’s how building a model works today. Like baking a cake.

I’m order to remove or even identify pii data in ML models or LLMs today, we’d need a whole new way of baking a cake that would keep the eggs separate from the cake until just before you tried to take a bite out of it. The tools today don’t allow you to do anything like that. They bake you a complete cake.

Tyfud,

42, U.S. I can, very well. I used to race cars on the track. I don’t do that anymore, but it’s a useful skill to have when I’m in Europe. Manual transmission is the norm for any rental car.

Tyfud,

Facial recognition does not need to use infrared in any way to work. Source: have trained many models

Tyfud,

How do you see this as a slap on the wrist? He’s facing disciplinary proceedings after the initial 90 day suspension.

79 coaches have resigned.

This feels like serious repercussions territory.

Tyfud,

Ah, appreciate the context. Thank you.

Tyfud,

As a programmer: compile times

One of 2023's most extreme heat waves is happening in the middle of winter (phys.org)

Temperatures in parts of Chile and northern Argentina have soared to 10°C–20°C above average over the last few days. Towns in the Andes mountains have reached 38°C or more, while Argentina's capital, Buenos Aires, saw temperatures above 30°C—breaking its previous August record by more than 5°C. Temperatures peaked at...

They largely believe they’re the main characters in a universe created just for them by a super being.

Their belief that this is all planned is unshakable. Because the second that’s in doubt, so is everything else they believe.

In order to believe in climate change, they have to stop being religious. That’s a harder sell. So they stick their heads in the sand and pretend it’s all a part of God’s plan.

Tyfud,

Same. This all feels so similar, but different at the same time. In a good way tho.

Tyfud,

Gerrymandering doesn’t affect presidential elections. Only the lower house of Congress and the state legislative branch.

Tyfud,

That’s our bar here? That someone who has put in years and years of hard Dev effort, every day, built up a community, took risks, etc, should just be happy he has food on the table?

Fuck that noise. I don’t care if he’s already s multi millionaire, he can charge whatever he wants, and we can choose to pay it or not. The man is running a business model here. He’s not done weekend warrior FOSS hacker. He deserves to be paid for his efforts.

Tyfud,

Sometimes you have to pay for keeping things free, if that makes any sense.

FOSS can’t exist in a vacuum. The developers spend a lot of time on things and they need to be paid for their efforts, otherwise we won’t get great products like Sync.

If you want things that are well maintained and supported, then there has to be income for those owners to provide those services.

Sync for lemmy is a top tier client. I’m willing to pay to get and support that model. It’s not like the 17 dollars a year is a big deal. I spend more than that on a single sushi roll sometimes.
