Jeebus! The casual nature in which he does it.

He is wrong though. And this a-political stance is the opposite of why the Olympics was started. Fight in sports not on the battlefield!

Tosti,

Well, you can really zoom in on the individual, and decide. But if the person is in the military, or completely on the Russian government’s dime, they are spokespeople for that government. That government is not welcome, by extension the athlestes are not welcome. The olympics should not be a platform for idols of the russian federation to gain a platform.

The ‘Brain Drain’ is a Symptom of How Capitalism has Failed the Healthcare Sector (peoplesdispatch.org)

As a healthcare professional whose experience is rooted in the public healthcare sector of South Africa, I can sympathize with healthcare professionals who choose to leave the continent, in order to pursue their career overseas. The phenomenon of ‘brain drain’ which is the emigration of highly skilled professional, from...

Or, how the government failed the people by allowing healthcare to be an unregulated for profit market.

It is perfectly fine for commercial entities to be present there. The conversation should be on acceptable profits and transparency in costs.

Situations occur where for example a knee operation always earns the clinic the same, private clinics wil only do the simple ones and make a killing while referring complicated cases to hospitals that take a loss on the procedure.

I personally really disliked the latest Far cry. Graphics where nice, story was ok-ish but the outlandish aspects of the gameplay (supremo’s… pets…) made it a snoozefest without any challenge. Setting the enemies to bulletsponge made it even more unbearable. I’ll be waiting for the bargain bin for the next installment.

Best: Grounded, worst: stranded deep

What are the best multiplayer games to try if me and my friends are looking for a similar experience to a Bungie Halo campaign marathon on Heroic+ difficulty?

PC. We played through all of the 3+ player ones around a year or two ago in chronological order and it was stupid fun, what we liked about it and are hoping to find elsewhere is it being a shooter with an emphasis on movement and it’s physics sandbox (AKA CHAOS) while still having at least 3 full campaigns to play through in a...

Yes, the Kurds are pumping up the oil and using it to fund their military machine. Hence the strained relationship with Turkey… They really dislike Kurds.

The US denies oil revenue to a crazy dictator selling it to fund his crazy antics and prevents Russian proxies from capturing the fields to fund their crazy antics all with minimal troops.

It’s not as if the alternative would be that the oil revenue is used to buy happyness, health and prosperity for the Syrian people.

Natural gas … Gaza. In the mean time less than a million dirt poor Guyanans are sitting on the worlds largest reserve. Getting in on that is way less of an issue for anyone.

You are drawing lines that are not there. Gaza is horrible enough without inventing nonsense around it.

Tosti,
@Tosti@feddit.nl avatar

You could watch some Perun videos on the subject. But THE question seems to be what victory looks like. Russia never was explicit on their objectives and what they would call a win.

Even if Ukraine would receive less help, Russia is not going to steamroll a country filled with people that know that losing to Russia means they will be starved, beaten and murdered.

I hope we don’t have to find out, but ita going to be a long and bloody road regardless of outcome.

Tosti,
@Tosti@feddit.nl avatar

Yeah. Probably not 250 dumb shells though.

If these are guided or programmed shells like SMArt, Excalibur or Vulcano rounds than that means 250 things the Russians hold dear will be obliterated from very far away.

Tosti, (edited )
@Tosti@feddit.nl avatar

But Comrad, that makes no sense. You focus on one of the options while there are other munitions available. And even if so… it’s welcome regardless.

You tell me to cope harder while making fun of a serious issue. Russia is devastating a country because of geopolitical games where they want Ukrainians to be vassals to a brutal regime that denies they are their own people with their own culture.

All help is something and trying to sway the public opinion by diminishing the efforts of others only prolongs the war and suffering of the Russians at the front and the Ukranians as a whole.

Maybe you should be putting your energy into fighting for the Ukranians to live their lives in peace and choose their own destiny.

Tosti,
@Tosti@feddit.nl avatar

Nope you are just advocating for raping, plundering, children stealing, warcriminals that employ convicted criminals of the worst kind on the front lines and if they survive set them loose on their own society.

All from the comfort of your safe bedroom, in a country with a representative democracy that allows you to spout heinous nonsense, protected by anonimity and the government you so despise.

Yes, erase the history there. That way people are no longer reminded of it either.

Isn’t putting a nice statue to the woman (giving her a name and a face) with a plaque explaining why the street has its name not a better solution. Instead of erasing it showing people that some of the things we hold dear don’t nessecarilily are because of nice things.

Or actually name the street after the woman’s real name (if we know it)

While terrible, the most of these people make a lot of money and could have also unionized over the past years. Covid also showed them what was on the horizon. But instead the prevailing US worker strategy in these high paying jobs seems to be “get yours”.

Tosti,
@Tosti@feddit.nl avatar

Corporate greed can only be stopped by disallowing the divide and conquer strategy they employ. Individual bargening against large corporations only works if the employer works in good faith. So when the relationship was good they could have also formed a union and work together to have a fair footing if anything changes in that good relationship. The employees as a group missed that window and now that it’s needed the framework for collective bargaining is not there and individuals are left holding the bag.

Unions should not be demonized as a bad thing or punishment for the employer, it is a counterweight to the corporate machine if it ever shows it’s ugly head. Good employers have nothing to fear if they work together.

Tosti,
@Tosti@feddit.nl avatar

Actually I successfully have, just not in the US. The US has pretty hostile regulations against unions. Or maybe lacks regulations against companies squashing them.

Tosti,
@Tosti@feddit.nl avatar

I sort of get your point, but sometimes the truth also stings a little and people need to be aware that when it’s good is when you need to prepare for the downturn, that is the moment to prepare your nestegg, unionize etc.

As I said in the other comment, the Union has been villofied by corpo’s that people in the US think they are only to antagonize the company.

Tosti,
@Tosti@feddit.nl avatar

You seem to be making a mountain out of a molehill. Attacking the tone of the message adds nothing.

The “pull yourself up by the bootstraps” view of the world is something most Americans ascribe to. It might not apply to an individual but it definitely describes the group.

Yes years of corporate propaganda made an impact, I hope for them they can be the change they want to see.

Tosti,
@Tosti@feddit.nl avatar

You know what, you’re right. I just hope that workers in the tech industry can finally see that they should form collective actions.

Well the person does not have to be in the US merely in a country that has an extradition treaty, is willing to extradite for a price in the game of geopolitics, or the US thinks it can perform a rendition.

In any way it is also a signal to the world. Do t forget about Ukraine and the Russians are doing terrible things there.

It probably also helps pressure the GOP to put forward a vote for aid to Ukraine. If they don’t they don’t care about Russians torturing Americans. And that’s not an easy thing to spin for the GOP spindoctors.

And then when these countries worsen, causing inhabitants to migrate you can yell “stop the boats”

Also the WHO has shown a direct correlation between a countries healthcare and the size of families. So if you want to stop these countries from exploding their population, invest in their healthcare.

This could be such an epic win-win in a few years. We setup schools there and train staff. And for every 3 we train, we can open up one visum for one of the staff (volunteer to go). The country try gets a good school and subsidized trained professionals, and the west gets access to trained professionals.

But yeah, poaching them is cheaper. Plus it avoids all the nasty sideffects of actually helping these countries.

UN General Assembly adopts fresh resolution demanding Israel’s withdrawal from Golan Heights (peoplesdispatch.org)

How about just being able to identify them quicker, earlier and being able to defeat them.

Most likely the system if hardened somewhat, so before the reverse engineering is done, they can be tracked.

Interesting concept, using the cell network to identify objects traveling non standard routes potentially at altitude.

Also I don’t know if carriers can see if a sim has been in Russia, but that might also be a way to figure out the source of the drones.

Yeah it is terrible, I just wanted to sound a different signal from the all meat bad and never possible in the sustainable future.

At the risk of sounding old, when I was a kid the world in terms of consumerism was vastly different. The change to our current reality happened quickly and therefor I’m not completely pessimistic about the possibility of this change continuing in a similar pace. Albeit this time the direction of the change should be set a little more specific.

This is also the reason why this “lobbying” is so worrysome.

Tosti,
@Tosti@feddit.nl avatar

Disposable anything should be regulated. And only if there is a reasonable requirement to be disposable it can be… else, nope. This is just manufacturing externalizing the cost of the waste onto society instead of developing proper reusable products and/or making them good enough. Disposable products should be made from stuff that the manufacturer is responsible for the waste/ recycling.

Surgical gloves, yes. E cigarette, nope.
