Most likely the system if hardened somewhat, so before the reverse engineering is done, they can be tracked. Interesting concept, using the cell network to identify objects traveling non standard routes potentially at altitude. Also I don’t know if carriers can see if a sim has been in Russia, but that might also be a way to figure out the source of the drones.
