TheLongPrice,

Is no eggs a typo or intended?

TheLongPrice,

The quality of life changes look cool

Light, interesting reading? Link me your favorite articles.

I find myself needing to read things that don’t have emotional weight for me. I have noticed that most of the articles and sites I frequent when I’m bored, even the previously neutral-feeling ones, are bringing up Tough Feelings for me lately. I need less triggering stuff to waste time looking at, when I’m too tired for...

TheLongPrice,

I gave it a try on steam deck, does control pretty well!

TheLongPrice,

Nice. Any good VR games come out this past year?

TheLongPrice,

Even fun with randoms tbh, everyone’s so friendly

TheLongPrice,

“I’m a person just like you but I’ve got better things to do”

TheLongPrice,

It’s private at least, a good first step

TheLongPrice,

I blame the search engines that encouraged this

TheLongPrice,

I just made the switch, way smoother than I expected

TheLongPrice,

Ha had to reread my messages a few times 😂

TheLongPrice,

Amazing. What’s in the salad?

TheLongPrice,

Right now just a spare hard drive on a pi that I rsync too, but I’m looking for better options as well.

TheLongPrice,

I like Eurogamer for general news. Some other good ones:

adrianhon.substack.com/feed (game recommendations) buried-treasure.org/feed/ (hidden gems) analogue.gg/rss.xml (weekly link roundups) indiehellzone.com/feed/ (indie games)

TheLongPrice,

I’m really enjoying it so far! Reminds me a bit of Caves of Qud. I’m really surprised it’s free.

What are some FOSS programs that you think are a far better user experience than their counterparts? (sh.itjust.works)

I used Plex for my home media for almost a year, then it stopped playing nice for reasons I gave up on diagnosing. While looking at alternatives, I found Jellyfin which is much more responsive, IMO, and the UI is much nicer as well....

Looking for games with unique core mechanics

I’m requesting for recommendations for games that stand out from the rest in their genre, and not in the sense of being the best game in that niche but actually bringing something new and innovative to the table. I’ve not had much experience in gaming, but I have a few games to give you a hint on what I am talking about:...

TheLongPrice,

Death Stranding

I’ve never played such a unique big budget game. The core mechanic is terrain traversal to make deliveries, and the game continues to give you tools throughout it to accomplish that.

TheLongPrice,

You can see the dinosaur in them

[Discussion] two handed split / VR controllers similar to joy-cons on nintendo switch, but for PC?

I honestly don’t care about VR headsets or full-body tracking right now, but I would love to have a controller that’s split into two pieces like the wiimote/nunchuck duo or the joy-cons. I know Steam can connect to actual joy-cons, but the bluetooth range on official joy-cons is pretty bad, and I haven’t had any luck...

TheLongPrice,

I would love an index like controller for PC gaming

TheLongPrice,

Tried the demo, seems interesting! I like that they’re trying to capture what made older games feel special, but modernized

TheLongPrice,

I get why, the arcade became so full crap it was unusable

TheLongPrice,

I discovered this game after I saw people recommend it if you like The Expanse. Very chill mining gameplay loop, controls different than anything else I’ve played

TheLongPrice,

I think so (in terms of being heavy on the science part of scifi). You have to learn to fly with some more realism than a typical space game of this perspective, but it feels rewarding when you get the hang of it. I like that combat is less of a focus, but it’s still there if you want it.

TheLongPrice,

Impressive, I tried on steam deck once but it felt a lot clunkier than mouse and keyboard for this

I want ease of use, polish, and the i3 workflow. Should I use fedora or nix os?

I’m currently using Manjaro with i3 and no desktop environment. The problems with Manjaro as well as the lack of cohesiveness and missing features from not having a DE are prompting me to switch distributions. This isn’t the point of the post but I want to keep the i3 workflow but achieve DE level (gnome level ideally) of...

TheLongPrice,

I’ve never heard of this before but it looks very cool!

TheLongPrice,

No idea. I’ll check the GitHub out and mention it

TheLongPrice,

Arthur’s seat is nice, not sure how it is in winter though

Your RSS feeds

So I set up TT-RSS the other day and it’s generally nice, the only problem is I’m trying to find feeds that are interesting more or less. For example, we all enjoy watching TV, right? So I took the TV OPML from awesome-rss-feeds on GH and applied it, and was not amused. I don’t watch that many television and I very quickly...

TheLongPrice,

I’m glad he doesn’t oppose the lane narrowing
