Anything described as “just common sense.” No, it’s knowledge/awareness that you picked up from your particular environment. Not everyone has had the same exposure as you.
No, I just mean I have an underactive thyroid, and I’m stuck taking medication for it the rest of my life. As opposed to some of the other meds I take that I could conceivably stop under the right circumstances.
Over the last decade, people called for a new narrative regarding climate change. One that is less doomerism and more positive. They managed to do that. The same needs to happen for the internet....
Check out A Half-Built Garden by Ruthanna Emrys. A bunch of US citizens get so fed-up with the looming collapse of the planet, they form a bunch of socialist collectives who rely on the internet to function. It’s like a cross between reddit and Next Door. Problems are discussed, solutions proposed and voted on, information readily shared. These communities just focus on taking the best care they can of their own people and their corner of the world. Also there are aliens.
I’m going to visit my grandfather this weekend. His house smells like a skunk rolled around in some rotten cabbages, died, and got eaten and pooped out by a water buffalo. Thankfully I dont have to sleep there, but I do have to visit for a few hours, a couple days in a row. Last time, I wore a mask with mint toothpaste rubbed...
Idk. We’re not close, we’ve lived at least 8 hours apart most of my life. He has 7 kids and some of them live close and check on him regularly. They know about the smell but I’m not sure whether they’ve talked to him. He’s 95, in good health, and lives alone in a retirement community.
You don’t have to, but some defibrillator kits include a razor, and when I took a CPR class, we were taught how to remove hair using either a razor or an extra set of defib pads.
I do. I am also pro-angioplasty and pro- root canal. These are all great medical procedures, and while it’s sad when an individual needs them, its great that they exist.
If I get a burger and fries, I eat all the fries before starting on the burger. If I can’t finish it all, the burger will be good the next day. Fries are only good fresh.

Christmas ornaments. Any time I visit a “destination” I get a christmas ornament as a souvenir. It’s nice at christmas to look at the tree and spark memories of travel.
I make fruit a part of every breakfast. I plan the rest of my meals around veggies that are on sale. If it’s a veg I don’t really like (usually texture issues) I hide it in something. Risotto and pizza are two of my favorites.
[Readtangle.org](Tangle News). It’s independent, and non-partisan. Good for getting out of your news bubble without becoming overwhelmingly frustrated by the other side. And doesn’t resort to hyperbole and clickbait.
I live in a small city (40k population). It’s the worst of both worlds. The grocery stores are shit, there’s nothing to do, and it’s built up just enough to be ugly as sin with no good nature access. As long as I can get reliable internet, I’m open to rural.
Zhao says having data on how people who did get the money actually spent it is something she thinks will help counteract stereotypes, increase empathy and potentially get skeptics and the public on board with the idea of providing cash transfers....
I view it as performance art. Someone could play music or perform Shakespeare on the street to make me feel something, and I would throw money in their hat. In this case, the feeling is altruism, and they’ve earned their money with the performance.
