ReadyUser31,

He is very good at the following things:

  • being born rich
  • investing in a slam dunk future technology everyone on the planet knows we will need, eg money on the internet, electric cars, space ships
  • taking risks in combining the above

That is about as far as his skillset runs. As we’ve seen from twitter, when he doesn’t have an entire layer of his organisation set up to run interference in him, he quickly runs companies into the ground. He has had zero original ideas.

He’s also a dangerous alt-right racist nutjob.

ReadyUser31,

Retaining some ability to spend and use cash is vital because otherwise, all our financial transactions are totally controlled by the banks, and they are completely untrustworthy. The cost is inconvenience.

ReadyUser31,

That is contrived even by twosentencehorror standards.

Shrinkflation hits IKEA Family by removing 5% discount (i.imgur.com)

IKEA Family is a membership program, like grocery store memberships. The only real feature of the program was their 5% discount. But now, they are getting rid of it to focus on “New Lower Price offers”. I’m not holding my breath that their prices are going to come down anytime soon....

ReadyUser31,

You don’t pay cash for it, but it takes up your time and IKEA gets your data and is allowed to send you spam. So kinda free, but also not.

ReadyUser31,

Sorry but we only accept images of posts on this community! Please feel free to repost as such.

ReadyUser31,

Nice! Love the axehead and the horns, very good.

ReadyUser31,

Do you really want Taco John’s to hold the usage rights to ‘taco Tuesday’?

ReadyUser31,

I’ve bought this and it’s so long! 110 pages, of which 70 are the powers. It looks great but in classic MCDM style (Illrigger is super complex) it is hella crunchy.

The list of powers is two and a half pages long on its own https://lemmy.world/pictrs/image/db5624fa-2508-44e5-935e-41082f0d2e6e.png

ReadyUser31,

It just sucks that we’re gonna lose a decade of community knowledge on so many topics. Honestly if I have a question for the internet, whether it’s dealing with bugs on my houseplants or buying water proof walking boots, I always add ‘reddit’ to my Google searches.

Shane there isn’t a way to move it all on to a stackoverflow type site.

Kiri-ai: The Duel - Two players, five minutes, 16 cards, one of the most compelling card games I’ve ever played (www.dicebreaker.com)

I just read this article and went ahead and preordered this game. It seems like such a fun time. I have a particular friend in mind that I think would love to play this with me. Figured I would share with this community.

ReadyUser31,

It annoys me so much when these articles don’t include a link to the website they are discussing.

ReadyUser31,

This isn’t really a meme. This is not a community for headlines posted on microblogs.

ReadyUser31,

Oh shit is it still going? I read it religiously like a decade ago.

Report: Amazon made $1B with secret algorithm for spiking prices Internet-wide (arstechnica.com)

Last week, the Federal Trade Commission sued Amazon, alleging that the online retailer was illegally maintaining a monopoly. Much of the FTC’s complaint against Amazon was redacted, but The Wall Street Journal yesterday revealed key details obscured in the complaint regarding a secret algorithm. The FTC alleged that Amazon...

ReadyUser31,

It’s the kind of thing that’s so blatant you forget it’s wildly illegal.

…com.au/does-email-spam-affect-the-enviroment/

Its estimated that spam consumes more than 33 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity every year, the same amount as 2.4 million homes. It also produces the same amount of green house gas(GHG) emissions as 3.1 million passenger cars.

ReadyUser31,

wait until he hears about phone books

ReadyUser31,

do you expect them to be a non profit?

yes

ReadyUser31,

Kindle has this, it’s called Whispersync. Of course you need to buy both the book and the audiobook so it’s not cheap.

SpiceMerchant, to tabletopminis

WIP: Murderer and Victim

The last Settlement Event from my Kingdom Death weekend was Murder so I grabbed this mini and started it right away when I got home. I think I was too hasty with the primer and it ended up with a gritty effect I didn't intend. Maybe with some layers and blending that will go away.

@Kingdom_Death_Monster
@TabletopMinis

A "boutique nightmare horror" mini from Kingdom Death: Monster. A murderer stabs over his partially dismembered victim, seen from the rear,a lantern rests on a pile of skulls and the victims entrails leak onto the stone faces on the ground.

ReadyUser31,

Brutal!

ReadyUser31,

Agreed. Either it’s archive text messages, and also tape-record all verbal communication as well, or just let people talk to each other without all this admin.

ReadyUser31,

It turns out cable wasn’t some unique product or way of doing things, it’s just the natural form media delivery takes under capitalism. Streaming services are convergently evolving to take that shape too.

ReadyUser31,

Have you found any decent guitar communities on lemmy?

ReadyUser31,

Can confirm, I listen to podcasts on Spotify and it’s really annoying.

ReadyUser31,

Yep Google Play Music was literally perfect. It was incredible. And now it’s gone I have to use Spotify and the world’s most backwards fucking ‘add to queue’ logic. Get fucked Spotify. Best of a bad bunch.
