Trig is honestly the math I’ve used the most since finishing school. But to be fair, that is mostly because it’s useful as hell when doing game development as a hobby.
Seeing the other post here about YouTuber that went downhill and seeing content creators I am familiar with makes me sad. But how about those that still makes great, high quality content?
Kind of a trend, the amount of youtubers who i had loved but their content became generic after gaining popularity is quite a bit, most drastic one being mrwhosetheboss, his uniqueness went down faster than MH27 MH17
This is definitely not true. Rooster Teeth has been producing some of their all-time best content since covid (speaking as fan since 2012). They just pivoted to primarily making podcasts, and most of their podcasts are awesome and high-production quality without feeling inauthentic. F**KFACE and ANMA are especially good for old fans.
I really hope that Villeneuve will get the chance to turn all the books into movies. He gets the vibe of Dune, and the last two books would make for some epic films on the big screen. But to get those made, Villeneuve would first have to do the impossible and somehow turn God Emperor into a movie that wouldn’t tank the franchise.
I work with teenagers with autism. I have tried so hard to understand Undertale, because they all love it so so much. I even used to stream me playing it so my students could tag along. I want to get it, but I just don’t.
If anyone can explain me the appeal (better than my students did) I would appreciate it greatly.
There are still great places on the Internet, you just have to seek them out. It’s the ones that are spoon-fed to you by the corporations that are soulless, adfilled shitlands.
Maybe we don’t need 4K 60FPS video to show Mr. Beast giving away more crap. Just because we can up the quality, doesn’t mean we should. Or maybe client-side real-time AI upscaling will make this a non-issue.
One of these pulled up at my workplace today and I can not get over how stupid they look and that got me thinking, who thought making a shittier version of an Odyssey was a good idea....
Seems like the next album will be a concept album like Spirit World Field Guide, but about technology instead of spirits and afterlife. Very excited for this. Aes is a powerful cat!
I listen to Spotify on my work computer. In the last few weeks the fan always spins up when I try to play it, and I’m constantly having to reload the window for it to play anything. Playback will stop in the middle of a song sometimes....
I’m still waiting for them to re-add a scrollbar for the mobile app podcast pages. Reported its disappearance multiple times the last two years, and just get empty answers from Spotify. Relistening to old podcasts is a pain, when having to scroll through hundreds of episodes without a quick scrollbar.
Imagine an average day in his life. Getting constantly approached by fans who want to take a picture or get an autograph, because of something he might not even remember having done. Must be so fucking weird for him. I really hope people are respectful of him and his family.
Indie games have never been better. So much good stuff is coming out all the time, and there are some fantastic experiences to be had. You just have to ignore the big releases, that were pressured to put out unfinished games too early by investors.
I’m usually a fan of open source games but rarely do they manage to be actually great. People like giving recommendations like Super Tux Kart that haven’t aged well and don’t play well. What are some open source games that are legitimately good that I’ve missed?...
Software Engineering. Most software is basically just houses of cards, developed quickly and not maintained properly (to save money ofc). We will see some serious software collapses within our lifetime.
I studied engineering. Most classes were split into 2 hours of theory, followed by 2 hours of practical assignments. Both within the official class hours, so teachers could assist with the assignments. The best college-class structure by far imo.

hi, i was interested if perl is still relevant in this day and age. Perl has been on the decline for a very long time now. A cool little mechanical scoop-thing, which is perfect for making falafels. Cost me <2€ and it’s awesome. Perfect size and shape and most importantly super easy to clean.
A lot of it is only cost-cutting disguised as innovation though. Some jobs, like accounting, doesn’t really suffer from removing the human element, but compare that to the chatbot hellscape that customer service has become. We need to be VERY conscious of what we “innovate” and guide the development with taxation and laws.
I think every country has people with a personality-vacuum that they’ve filled with a job. But in my anecdotal, personal experience, Americans tend to do it far more often (they also work WAY more).
I’ve noticed in the Linux community whenever someone asks for a recommendation on a laptop that runs Linux the answer is always “Get a Thinkpad” yet Lenovo doesn’t seem to be a big Linux contributor or ally. There’s also at least six Linux/FOSS-oriented computer manufacturers now:...
