The only two I ever watched where this has happened and not simply them just up and disappearing was JonTron and Onison.

And it’s understandable why the quality went down. Not only did I grew up, they were both accused of and/or involved in grooming or some shit.

There wasn’t a lot of Trek games in my childhood. I mean, they existed I just didn’t have any. I remember playing something on DOS my dad had in his floppy collection but I don’t know what the actual title is. Could probably identify it by a screenshot because it was like a screen with space/an enemy ship and then a bunch of menus to do everything like an old school CRPG.

Even now I kinda wish there was a Star Trek immersive sim/open world RPG besides the MMO, STO. Like Mass Effect or Starfield but Star Trek, and not boring.

apparently this is in response to a few threads on Reddit flaming Starfield—in general, it’s been rather interesting to see Bethesda take what i can only describe as a “try to debate Starfield to popularity” approach with the game’s skeptics in the past month or two. not entirely sure it’s a winning strategy,...

For example, one thing I read again and again was “Starfield just wasn’t optimized, they easily could have reduced memory and bumped framerates”. Which any actual programmer will immediately feel a pit of dread in their stomach because we’ve been asked to reduce ram usage or speed something up, and that is a daunting task in our simple little apps - let alone a major AAA game.

This thing in particular was picked apart by actual devs in news articles and editorials that showed that Bethesda really didn’t optimize the game at all along with all the technical reasoning and proof showing how it could have been improved.

It’s not just the players, who for the most part, have been citing those articles when they make that particular critique. I mean, shit, they haven’t even used their own texture compression system for the last few games they made, and that’s so easy even someone with minimal modding knowledge can fix because the game already has the tools to make it work better.

So it’s not just me? I know they’re not just walking around; the insulation is pretty good. But they certainly thump around in random intervals up there, like they’re constantly arranging furniture. I thought maybe they had a dog but they don’t. And they only seem to be active between the hours 3 and 6 am.

Still not as bad as my next door neighbors who come outside their front door at 5am every single day, standing right in front of my bedroom window and yell at each other for an hour. I’m 🤏 this close to opening the window and yelling at them to STFU.

They were called floppy disks because, originally, they were literally floppy while the hard drive was, you know… Hard. 5 inch disks were flexible. 3.5 inch disks were not literally floppy, but still were called “floppy disks” given they were the same thing, but smaller and with more rigidity in the casing that held the magnetic film.

It doesn’t have “it.” I don’t know what “it” is, but I know Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout 3 and Fallout 4 had “it” and somehow Starfield does not. It is completely devoid of that “it” factor that their other games had, even if it has everything else those games had and more. It is still missing the crucial “it.”

It’s not in the rules, but it makes sense. It also does have rules about taking an automatic 10 for low DC stuff, which you usually only do if even a roll of 1 would succeed so it gives a good trade off having nat 1s be a failure even in skill checks when the player opts to roll instead of taking a 10.

They have already started showing ads of the game. It certainly looks pretty but nothing shown, so far, is technically impressive or even indicative of any actual game behind the visuals. Unless they plan to release it soon, this just feels like building up a huge hype train years ahead of launch and that they haven’t learned their lesson from NMS.
