Ginjutsu,

Still got one on my Sony Xperia 1 IV

Ginjutsu,

Killing Floor. I’ll probably be playing that game till the day I die.

Hot take: developing an open source For You algorithm for mastodon that shows you posts based on your likes inbetween every other chronological post would be great

If we had an open source algorithm for Mastodon/Pixelfed that learned based on the words in the post and image/video we could have a Following + For You feed that showed you all the posts from people you follow and you could choose to see, say, 1 recommended For You post after every 3 posts from your Following feed. With the...

Ginjutsu,

This and the way Mastodon handles likes/favorites are the biggest things holding them back right now, IMO. People don’t want to bother with a social media they actually have to put in the work to curate themselves, hell the algorithm is one of the main reasons why TikTok is so successful. Also, by having favorites (which is… weird and confusing? Just call it “likes”, you don’t need to reinvent the wheel here). Not only do people get confused between favoriting something and bookmarking something, but since it’s only counting the favorites from your instance, it makes it look like posts are getting barely any interaction, giving this “screaming into the void” feeling that will cause a lot of users to lose interest. The number of likes favorites needs to be cumulative across instances.

Waymo says Austin, Texas, will be its next robotaxi city (www.theverge.com)

Waymo says its driverless taxis will traverse “a large portion of the city night and day,” covering spots like “the heart of downtown, Barton Hills, Riverside, East Austin, Hyde Park and more.” The company makes no mention of the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, where the taxi business is typically the most...

Ginjutsu,

Can’t wait for even the slightest rain to totally cripple the entire fleet.

Ginjutsu,

I was more so commenting on how painted road lines here become nearly invisible when it rains. AFAIK, a lot of self driving tech relies on visible road lines to direct itself, but maybe the tech is good enough now to where it doesn’t really matter.

In any case, I guess it can’t be much worse than how the human drivers here handle things, lol.

Ginjutsu,

Just give us 2143 already.

Ginjutsu,

Man, that sucks. I hope they can reopen at a new location if they do get pushed out.

Ginjutsu,

It’s on the Series X/S and the PS5. They’re bringing it to the previous console generation now.

Seems like onboarding will be handled by a bot, so I imagine it shouldn’t really matter what instance you’re using. As for instances that are “Joining in”, I think that just refers to Admins for those instances promoting the event.

Ginjutsu,

+1 to this. I’ve noticed that posts haven’t been federating in !tampabaylightning either for the past several days.

Ginjutsu,

I used trakt.tv, Jellyfin has a great plugin for it.

Ginjutsu,

ProTip: you can easily deflate a car’s tires by placing a small pebble in the valve cap before screwing it back on

Ginjutsu,

UP changing their minds could also have something to do with the Brightline’s apparent success in Florida.

I say bring it on. The more reasons to avoid taking 35, the better.

Ginjutsu,

Prob just another exclusivity deal.

Ginjutsu,

Scumbaggery aside, I find it incredibly disheartening that just following an account these days is enough to warrant having a giant red target painted on you. I really despise what social media has done to us.

Ginjutsu,

Tam Deli on North Lamar does an excellent $8 Banh Mi, assuming they haven’t raised their prices.

Ginjutsu,

Warm water breeds stronger hurricanes quicker. This is pretty scary news for any Floridians who are already nervous about hurricane season.

Ginjutsu,

Friendly reminder to release the Cats butthole cut.

Ginjutsu,

One of my dream games is a Chaos Theory remake in the same vein as the RE remakes. That, and don’t mess with the Amon Tobin soundtrack - it’s perfect as is.

Ah, the good ol’ ‘administrator discretion’. Seems like a classic case of power-tripping site admins doubling down on their opinion while disregarding any notion that they may be in the wrong. Can’t say I’m surprised - it was only a matter of time before we saw this kind of behavior in the threadiverse.

Regardless of how you may feel about NSFW content on Lemmy, this is a huge red flag for lemmy.blahaj.zone, and I would advise against people joining that instance purely based on the admins’ apparent inability to properly investigate or understand the content that they federate with. Hopefully they can clarify their rules in the near future and justify why exactly this defederation happened, or reverse their decision, swallow a little bit of pride, and admit they were in the wrong.

EDIT: More admin correspondence can be found here.

Very ‘my way or the highway’ behavior from the blahaj.zone admins. Really not a good look.

Ginjutsu,

You do realize that many people on this instance participate in blahaj.zone communities, right? Why call people ‘weirdos’ for actually caring about how the communities and instances which they interact with are ran?

I feel like you’re being unnecessarily inflammatory here. People are entitled to discuss whatever they want to when it comes to the Fediverse in this community, and this topic falls well within that category. No need to attack people for sharing their opinions on the matter.

Barbenheimer? This is the weekend of The Venture Bros: Radiant is the Blood of the Baboon Heart (i.imgur.com)

This weekend we got the conclusion to The Venture Bros. One of my favorite shows that’s stuck around for years even if seasons were released sporadically. Loved the movie. It closes enough plot threads without overdoing it. Lots of good character moments....

Ginjutsu,

Just finished this last night. Some of the best Venture Bros content we’ve gotten to date, and I think it was a fantastic way to bookend the show. Just wish we got an entire season of content instead of 4 episodes worth in a movie, but Doc Hammer and Jackson Publick gave us the best they could with the budget they were given and then some. It all feels so bittersweet now that it’s finally over. Go Team Venture forever.

(On that note, don’t miss out on the last shirt club 🙂)

Ginjutsu,

Omni Man vs Homelander gonna be a sight to see.

Ginjutsu,

Greg Abbot can fucking burn for all I care. Fuck that piece of shit cunt right up his ass.

Ginjutsu,

AFAIK, lemmy.ml and lemmygrad.ml use it because the ml can also stand for “Marxist-Leninist”, and the two primary maintainers of Lemmy are Marxist-Leninists . Not sure about the others though.

Ginjutsu,

Nope. Even the considerably nicer CapMetro Rail stations aren’t great in this regard.

Ginjutsu,

Hmm, looks like the markdown formatting in this post displays fine on Lemmy but isn’t playing nice with Kbin. You may want to bring it up here.

Ginjutsu,

Seems like people are organizing here: !place_join_lemmy

Ginjutsu,

oh man, this is gonna be sweet
