I really loved this book. Discovered it when he was halfway done then read it all again in preparation for the finale. I’d say the end was good overall but it didn’t quite satisfy me. The middle section was my favorite. Seeing Zorian’s gradual improvement over time, honing his skills, becoming overpowered, all that was excellent.
When watching a show a while after it’s released you can sometimes tell when a show was canceled because a season will end on a big (occasionally spiteful) event....
Veronica Mars. Incredible first season followed by 2 lesser but still good seasons. They made an incredible kickstarter video for a revival movie that I believe was the biggest kickstarter ever at the time. But the movie was really bad. There was another Hulu season after that I can barely remember watching except for the awful ending.
One of my favorite Apollo features was I could be in the middle of a deep comment section. Swipe back to the homepage, then swipe over into where I left off in the comments. I believe this was handled by edge swipes vs swipes from not quite the edge for up/down votes. No idea how it remembered location....
From what I've seen from Euphoria, the cinematography is really good, but between the gratuitous nudity, and S02 sucking, I don't want to watch it. Are there any shows that were shot in a similar way?
Or you get a set top box and don’t worry about the trash software that comes with the tv.
I really like my newish sony tv that has a basic mode. Disables all the smart BS so it functions just as a screen. I use an Apple TV or ps5 for all content.
I want to unlock the ability to view content on my mobile device. I can do that with a one-time purchase (payed with google opinion rewards) or with a subscription. I want to unlock the ability for my entire family though, across multiple devices. Do I have to pay the “one-time payment” for every device? If so, the plex...
As a kid i loved watching the next generation and deep space 9 with my dad. Ive always liked sci fi, more of a (stargate fan) and wanted to get back into star trek, but Im just so lost on timelines and whats going on. There are like 6 kirks and I have no idea how/where to get started with watching this again.
This weekend we got the conclusion to The Venture Bros. One of my favorite shows that’s stuck around for years even if seasons were released sporadically. Loved the movie. It closes enough plot threads without overdoing it. Lots of good character moments....
As someone who aggressively adblocks everything, one of the final places that ads can still reach me is in annoying ad reads within podcasts. Youtube sponsorblock is incredible but it seems no one has yet adapted this for podcasts. Has anyone else managed to find a solution here? As far as i can tell in my googleing, this...
To add to this, some podcasts on certain networks dynamically insert ads based on your location, any other data they have on you. so the ads may be different length for different users, further complicating this.
Definitely a difficult problem still looking for a solution. thanks for your input.
IHeartradio is the worst. I have dropped off listening to podcasts I otherwise really like. Behind the bastards, anything Robert Evans does really. The ads are too bad.
As someone who setup his own nas over the pandemic I really like this approach. Needed a time intensive project to stay sane and I keep finding more useful things it can do.
Another thought I’ve had, plex has a skip intro feature. This works by scanning the audio from multiple episodes and showing the skip button when available. Maybe something like that could build up an ad library of the most obnoxious repetitive podcast ads and work across different podcasts. It wouldn’t work for unique self reads though.
I wish I had the technical knowledge to build something like this but I done even know where to begin.
I recommend getting the kids paperwhite. Comes ad free and with a good case. Just unsub from the kids book thing if you don’t want it. Paperwhites are backlit so I can fall asleep reading at night with no other lights on. The newer ones also support dark mode and usb-c, finally!
And only buy any Amazon devices when deeply discounted like on prime day.
Yes. I am one of those who pays for premium. I primarily watch on my tv and probably watch more youtube than anything else. Also still on the old $10 plan but we will see how long that lasts.
I’ve found discord to be a bit of a barrier for the less tech savvy friends too. Overseerr has worked great though. Except now it’s too easy and my server has gone from meticulously curated sci-fi and horror and pretentious classic films to include all the big modern trash I don’t care to watch. Oh well.
I’m going to buy a kindle paperback (I’ve never had one), and I’m sure I’m not going to buy any books for it. What mods/steps/other stuff do you guys suggest to set it up?
Kindles support ePub now, the most common ebook format. Finally!
Amazon has a computer app Send to Kindle that makes it effortless to send eBooks to your kindle. Just grab whatever book you want from Anna’s Archive, open in send to kindle and send it to your device.
Later on you could even automate with readarr. Set it to look at your Goodreads to read list and automatically send those books to your kindle.

Which kindle(?) to buy for downloaded books
Hi!...
Google raising price of YouTube Premium to $13.99 per month (9to5google.com)
reddit fucking destroyed the plex share community.
I’m devastated! Holy fuck it’s the end of such a great resource. Is there any other plex share communities active at all?
What is the best TV/movie service I can set up for someone who is not tech savvy and wants something that just works?
Happy to buy hardware if needed. Just trying to avoid large streaming services abhorrent business practices.
