SGHFan,

Wanting to make a custom ROM for a phone.

SGHFan,

I think the Galaxy Tab A8 may be a good option. While I’ve only flashed a custom ROM, there are root guides at XDA.

SGHFan,

I unlocked my US variant WiFi A8.

SGHFan,

I now have an S6 Lite (keeping on One UI for an experiment)!

SGHFan,

The 11 (no Pro model) dropped it.

SGHFan,

Yup, never going back to 1+!

SGHFan,

And you can’t get de-crufted Win11 outside Europe! Another win for Plasma!

SGHFan,

Welcome to the Linux club!

SGHFan,

Nah, I hate AI. Over hyped, why does EVERYTHING need it…

Linux on a 2in1 for Uni (lemmy.world)

Hello linix@lemmy, I got fixed on the idea of replacing my iPad with a 2in1 like the thibkpad X13 for uni since I use the keyboard with my iPad a lot. The only time I need to take handwritten notes is in chemistry, mathematics and to annotate PDFs. Does anyone here have experience with convertibles running Linux? What would be...

SGHFan,

Rocking a Galaxy Book2 360. Can’t adjust keyboard brightness, kernel parameter is needed for OLED backlight, and 3.5mm headphone jack doesn’t work.

SGHFan,

I flip the bird at the Red Hat building every time I pass it.

SGHFan,

I also don’t know what the terminology is. I’m in North Raleigh, and I sometimes go to downtown.

The vanishing of the small high-end smartphone (www.smh.com.au)

Manufacturers don’t make displays under 6 inches available for purchase, with special cases (such as the iPhone Mini) being made under exclusive contracts. The best lead they have so far is to try to use displays designed for the front part of a foldable phone, but they’re yet to strike an agreement....

SGHFan,

Weird, My Zenfone (NC, US) no longer has the “not supported” message. Is this region now supported? Also, I may turn it on, just in case.

SGHFan,

Oh.

SGHFan,

Nah, I use KDE Connect. Works well!

SGHFan,

To be fair, I stopped using any OnePlus device 2 weeks ago.

SGHFan,

I was gonna do that, but I read that the 15 Pro was responsible, not the A17 Pro. Here is the original one I was gonna do: https://lemdro.id/pictrs/image/83ee9e88-03e5-4a71-9d80-4a7b2d924e23.png

SGHFan,

I often use Connect on mobile. Like what someone else said, maybe have a voting poll (or upvoting comments) for what front end is the best?

SGHFan,

Zenfone 10. Good size, amazing performance, love it. 3.5mm jack!

Ask Lemmy: Traditional vs natural mouse scrolling; which do you use?

Despite being a heavy cell phone user for more than 25 years, it only recently occurred to me that vertical navigation on most phones is inverted when compared to traditional computers. You swipe down to navigate upward, and up to navigate downward. I recently spent time using a MacBook, which apparently defaults to this...

SGHFan,

Natural on mice, traditional on trackpads.

SGHFan,

Call me weird, I don’t have any.

SGHFan,

Try a different wallpaper that isn’t blue. I’ve gotten gray themes.

SGHFan,

Very anti right-to-repair. Remember that Google has an iFixit partnership.

SGHFan,

Forgot that. Actually, the Redmi Note 12 that I’m typing this on actually has one! But in the US, yeah.

SGHFan,

Xperia Ace III (I actually imported one), love the size!

SGHFan,

Either the 5 series or the entry-level Ace series (Japan only).

SGHFan,

I mean the ones that people still try to use today, but they can be from that era.

SGHFan,

Oh yea. Even has Android 13!

SGHFan,

I remember mentioning the LED on a reply, then one person replied to that saying that they miss the LED. Several people upvoted that.

SGHFan,

FYI: I did not expect this to pick up so much traction. First few days on Lemmy seem to be a success!

SGHFan,

eBay?

SGHFan,

What if you’re in the US?

SGHFan,

Pretty much.

SGHFan,

I mean, what about FP5, or GApps?

SGHFan,

Guess who just got a Zenfone 10?

SGHFan,

Oh, yes.

SGHFan,

I actually imported the Ace, sadly doesn’t work on T-Mobile 4G/5G. Also only has a 720P panel.

SGHFan,

Probably not.

SGHFan,

I am on T-Mobile US. No complaints otherwise.

SGHFan,

Snaps are junk. I’m on Nobara now, no complaints.

SGHFan,

No Surface. Just a dual-boot Lin/Win PC, a flight sim PC, and a driving sim PC. All run Windows. Everything else has Linux, even a Galaxy Book2 360 (which is notoriously hard to get Linux working)!

SGHFan,

LG initally denied leaving the smartphone business, but they later quit the smartphone business. I wonder if this is happening with Asus?
