Ginjutsu,

If it promotes more discussion, I’m all for it 😬

Ginjutsu,

Not built in, but if you use an extension like Tampermonkey or Greasemonkey you can load this sweet userscript called LemmyTools, which adds what you’re looking for.

It’s kind of like RES, but for Lemmy. It’s pretty early in its development and featureset but it’s been really nice to use on my end.

Ginjutsu,

Could be a Hole, could also be a Puddle of Mudd

Ginjutsu,

Yeah, I think you’re right. Puddle of Mudd did form in the early 90’s, but didn’t really hit mainstream success until the 2000s it seems.

Ginjutsu,

Aegis all the way, but I’m curious about Bitwarden’s offering. May check it out one of these days.

Ginjutsu,

One of my earliest memories is of my mom taking my brothers and I by SRQ on our way to school so we could see Air Force One, which was parked there at the time before the attacks took place. I remember when it flew over us shortly after getting sent home. Big plane.

Ginjutsu,

This is why emulation is so important. Media must be preserved.

Ginjutsu,

East Side Pot Shop offers some beginner classes. I’ve heard great things about them from friends who have taken their courses in the past.

As I’m typing this l, I noticed that the only beginner class they’re offering currently is on Tuesday, so that particular place may not work for you. You might be able to do the work from home classes they offer, or you can always just rent the studio out and teach yourself via online classes.

My Way by Frank Sinatra. Fun fact, it’s actually banned from multiple karaoke bars in the Philippines due to a string of killings which directly resulted from people performing the song.

Looking for a plugin/addon/theme/config recommendation for a friend who is migrating from Chrome and prefers the tab UI from there, specifically when there are way too many tabs open. (fedia.io)

Specifically, when you open a reasonable number of tabs in any browser, the tabs look like this. However, as my friend has just imported all of his tabs and bookmarks over from Chrome to Firefox, he has an immense number of tabs open right now; in Chrome, he can see all the tabs at once with its UI. On Firefox, however, it keeps...

Ginjutsu,

When I was first making the switch, MaterialFox was a godsend. It essentially made Firefox look identical (even better in some regards) to Chrome, including the tab treatment that your friend prefers. Unfortunately it doesn’t look like it’s being actively maintained anymore - you can have your friend give this fork a try, but even that one looks like it was last updated 8 months ago.

@fediverse posting this from mastodon. It's amazing if this works!

Edit: it worked! Showed up in my Lemmy feed.

Ginjutsu,

what a time to be alive

What is the general stance of lemmy and other fediverse sites in regards to facebook trying the fediverse?

I saw a while back that facebook is opening a twitter competitor which will use the ActivityPub protocol, and thus will be able to federate with other fediverse instances, I also saw they invited some fediverse instance admins for an “off the records” meeting in their HQ....

Ginjutsu,

I’d say wait and see how it plays out. I’m all for making the fediverse more accessible to the general public, as long as Facebook/Meta doesn’t try anything funny, which does seem unlikely, but we shall see.

Ginjutsu,

hot damn, and here I was thinking the mosquitos have been worse than ever this summer. I got bit several times last night just taking out the trash.

Ginjutsu,

If you’re in North Austin, Taqueria Los Regios has the best Al Pastor tacos in Austin, IMO. They’re the yellow food truck in the parking lot of the Sunoco located off of Braker Ln.

Paprika ATX right near the Michi Ramen in North Lamar is also excellent, I highly recommend them.

Ginjutsu,

This is actually pretty crazy. Wonder how much it'll affect the overall design of modern smartphones. Will we witness the return of flagships with plastic back covers?

Ginjutsu,

hello Ziggy

Ginjutsu,

I shall forward this information to her at once.

Defederation is a thing ... anyone for whom this community is a main draw and not yet committed to a Lemmy instance would do well to pitch their tent on lemmy.world

So, the instance I joined Lemmy on last week largely to participate here defederated from lemmy.world an hour ago. It’s early post-Reddit days, which is the only reason I’m posting a general tech tip in /r/!austin, but it’s a previously impossible inconvenience that isn’t theoretical. Choose wisely or start your...

Ginjutsu,

Profile migrations fix a lot of the problems inherent with choosing an instance to call your home. Having an option to migrate entire communities as well would be super nice, especially in the possible event of an instance shutting down.

Ginjutsu,

Hmmm, yes, very handsome indeed.

Ginjutsu,

Is the USA a “functioning” state with all the oppression, racism, greed, invading other countries out of monetarian interest and environment destruction?

I hope you realize that this is an incredibly privileged take. The US is rife with issues, but the hardships experienced by the average western citizen doesn’t even compare to the suffering that you would find in, say, Pol Pot’s Cambodia, or (to a less extreme extent) Maduro’s Venezuela. To compare what a US citizen deals with on a daily basis due to capitalism to what a citizen of any of those countries had to go through is very reductive and may be perceived as disrespectful to many who had to live those experiences.
