Last year I started reading Tom Breihan’s The Number Ones column on Stereogum from the very beginning. I finally caught up sometime in September and really enjoyed it. Keep in mind that since it’s about the world of popular music and the people who make it, there can be some occasionally dark topics that show up in the articles, but they’re not really lingered on.
As for singular articles, this one about a pedestrian bridge in Minneapolis is a fun one, if you like solving mysteries about seemingly pointless things.
Getting a pet. I moved out of my parents’ place in 2009, but bringing home a cat a few months later felt like the first big adult decision I had made. I had pets before, but they were family pets so my siblings and parents all had a hand in taking care of them.
But the feeling of “this is a living thing and it’s relying on me to keep it alive” was an entirely different thing.
Being nice to waitstaff/receptionists/cashiers/etc, even if there’s an issue.
You can be annoyed at the situation, sure. But being nice to the employee shows you know that 99% of the time the problem is not their fault and 100% of the time yelling won’t solve anything.

Hmm, I’m not sure. I can see them from my home instance, but also the last post is from 12 days ago so it might just be because it’s a slow-moving community.
I got Rhythm Heaven Fever for the Wii when it first came out and just couldn’t get it. I mean, I understood what I was supposed to be doing, but I could barely pass any of the songs. I figured I just didn’t have any rhythm and put it on the shelf.
Fast-forward to 2020 when I was rearranging some stuff and came across Rhythm Heaven Fever again. I hooked my Wii back up for shits and giggles and started playing and was doing great. Either I had magically gained a sense of rhythm or (most likely) the TV I had been playing on when I first got the game had some sort of latency issue.
Now I’ve gone through all the Rhythm Heaven games, but Fever is still my hands-down favorite. I put a copy on my Steam Deck and sometimes I just load it up and play through some songs when I have a few minutes to kill.

I just read through The Goblin Emperor by Katherine Addison again. It’s about a half-goblin half-elf outcast who suddenly becomes the ruler of a country of elves. It’s a fantasy book, but more about court politics than dragons. And even though that might sound a little dry, it’s charming as hell.

My Zenfone 8 has a notification LED. I really appreciate it, because all I have to do is look over and see if the light is blinking to see if I got a text.
A very impressive but ultimately harmless piece of shark jawbone washes up on the beach of beautiful Amity Island, where it is later taken to the city hall to be displayed under glass. The summer tourist season continues on with little to no issue.

I know we’re on Lemmy and it’s considered poor form to link back to Reddit, but you might really find the folks on r/FreedTheNips useful regarding top surgery. When I got my top surgery I opted to keep my nipples. I still have sensation in them, but not nearly as much as I had pre-surgery. I would assume removing them entirely would mean getting rid of all sensation, but I’m sure the people on the subreddit would have a better answer than me.
