Fedizen,

It wouldn’t be much different. Really what politicians need are more staff with science literacy and social literacy.

You see the failure of science in policing frequently where metrics get imposed that end up having bad results (there’s a fantastic reply all about comstat). You need people with social literacy who can make better appointments and navigate these situations.

We could use better science literacy among media: writers, news anchors, etc.

Fedizen,

x ray vision, pretty sure you need to expose things to x rays to see skeletons. You gonna walk around irradiating people with an x ray source?

Fedizen,

fall off my bed

Fedizen,

that works for this exercise but what if the prompt was “you’ve been teleported 2 feet to the left 10 minutes ago. How did this affect you?”

Fedizen,

1 in 30 payout would be like ~3%

Fedizen,

not just that but it saves human lives as well by reducing animal collisions.

Fedizen,

Is this just an american thing?

Fedizen,

there’s a number of inauthentic right wingers that happily pose as leftists online to spur these sorts of things, its not something you can stop by lecturing people in online spaces.

This is good in person advice but in most cases this is a mostly online issue where bad actors and children are over represented.

Fedizen,

this needs a fourth panel where she’s tearfully putting the dad down at a doctor like a dying dog at a vet.

Fedizen,

I heard rumors that azure ran on oracle, this is probably why. Microsoft’s pursuit of advanced chatbot technology is surely to be a loser in the long run.

Fedizen,

wow they might get a slap on the wrist and a 50 dollar fine for this.

Joe Biden Wants US Government Algorithms Tested for Potential Harm Against Citizens (www.wired.com)

Highlights: The White House issued draft rules today that would require federal agencies to evaluate and constantly monitor algorithms used in health care, law enforcement, and housing for potential discrimination or other harmful effects on human rights....

Fedizen,

given the “success” of Israel’s hi tech border fence it seems like bureacracies think tech will work better than actually, you know, resolving/preventing geopolitical problems with diplomacy and intelligence.

I worry these kind of tech solutions become a predictable crutch. Assuming there is some kind of real necessity to these spy programs (debatable) it seems like reliance on data tech can become a weakness as soon as those intending harm understand how it works

Fedizen,

always check the name of the sub

Fedizen,

what is the tech angle here?

Fedizen,

half of gaza is kids. Israeli government is the #1 childkillers. good job

Fedizen,

meanwhile, capitalism is setting the world on fire

Fedizen,

yeah look what religion did in the ukraine russia war.

Fedizen,

killing kids with guns is bad but killing them with missiles is good. The israeli government is a cesspool of moral bankruptcy.

Fedizen,

it was sarcasm. these wars are about power and territory, first. The religion aspect makes it easier to rile people up, but afaik before the settlers arrived the entire area was religiously diverse. I’d even argue racism is a larger factor here than the religious aspect.

Fedizen,

I guess this is the approach to how AI can be used effectively.

Fedizen,

the problem is the plug is rectangular (has exterior rotational symmetry) AND not reversible - if the plugs were L shaped it would be clear by both feel and brief glance which rotation was correct

Fedizen, (edited )

AFAIK the real predecessor to USB was Serial cables and those were an absolute shit show. USB set out to create a more usable interface with a lower profile and cheaper cost. In many ways the minor flaws in USB becoming common gripes is USB becoming a victim of its own success. I don’t think they originally set out to become a power charging standard so the frequency at which devices were plugged in increased over time .

Fedizen, (edited )

wasnt that reporter murdered by the israeli army american? You’ll get some spin for sure but who knows how it will play out.

Fedizen,

lol dumpster fire energy

Fedizen,

some kind of rating system would probably help.

Fedizen,

this is just more outsourcing the costs onto the public and privatizing the profits for short term gain, they’re hoping the entire industry folds in on this but I am absolutely not buying a car where some asshole bumping into my parked car will result in me having to replace the whole front third.

Fedizen,

robo taxis can’t respond to accidents and emergencies so its likely they won’t be affordable to operate for some time.

Fedizen,

lawyers can frequently be required to travel or wait. IMO this makes sense, especially if you want to play something during down time.

Fedizen,

Please do this microchumps

Fedizen,

In the US we live where options other than cars simply aren’t subsidized or funded meaningfully for transit. This means yeah people who have to survive are going to be buying cars if they need them.

Fedizen,

the problem with dating platforms is like they open and people start mixing and then many just leave the dating pool as they match up or give up. The remaining people lean a little less dateable. Once this short term process repeats a hundred times there’s always some degree of permament toxic residents on a dating site.

This begs a feature dating sites should have is a shutdown date the minute they open.

Fedizen,

IF he doctors name is Dr Frankenstein

AND Frankenstein’s monster is essentially Dr. Frankenstein’s son

THEN Frankenstein’s Monster’s last name is Frankenstein and is therefore technically named “Frankenstein”

Fedizen,

musk reportedly burns a lot of bridges (you have to in order to get that filthy rich)

Fedizen,

Internal Affairs “investigating” a situation for first time ever.

Fedizen,

I would say dems prioritize unions and workers higher than republicans but both put big businesses ahead of workers So they’re not the same but they both have the same #1 priority.

Fedizen,

idk why 4chan is singled out here. Lots of people from Xitter are doing this too

Fedizen,

"look at these SOCIALISTS they put up some guardrails to prevent people from easily falling into the giant meatgrinder that says CAPITALISM. "

It should be noted even from the most barbaric economist brain measurement like GDP that Germany outperforms the US on that front and its partly because of these policies that prevent peoples minds and bodies from turning into paste like they do in the US.

Fedizen,

literally a victimless crime but I guess we don’t want want to incentivize failure for nurses the same way we incentivize it for like CEOs

Fedizen,

I found this too. After the reddit fiasco, I found DDG to have no downside. The search syntax is a little different (google’s is better) but the outputs arent radically different.

Fedizen,

we need bernard sanders brain inside a younger person. Matt Gaetz isn’t using his? maybe some kind of transplant or brain swap device is in order.

Fedizen,

the article quotes a bunch of people frustrated at pushing, shoving, line cutting etc at the job fair portion that weren’t visiting presentations - basically people who didn’t want to listen to the speeches but wanted to throw out resumes, fuck everyone else.

IMO they could solve the problem with a stamp system for people who sat through a presentation but its kind of shitty to have to treat everyone like kids because a couple dudes can’t behave themselves.

Fedizen,

Being an asshole is not illegal. Obeying the law doesn’t mean you’re a good person.

If these dudes were - as the article quotes describe - pushing, shoving, cutting in line then like I don’t see why you feel you need to identify with these particular dudes.

You can absolutely wait until some guy actually is being unfairly treated before dying on this hill.
