I was just at the doctor a couple of times in November. Turns out I had a bronchitis, possibly with a bacterial superinfection.
So I was at the doctor to
Check if my lungs were affected. is there a danger of a lung infection?
Do I need antibiotics or should I sit it out?
Get a doctors note (I was on sick leave for three and a half weeks)
This is nothing I could google. I actually did google and did not find bronchitis as an issue, but cold, influenza, and lung cancer. Google does not know how my lungs sound when I breathe.
So of course you should ask your doctor and not the internet.
Isn’t it cheaper to fly to Europe, visit a doctor, and fly back instead of going to the ER?
Also for “normal” treatments. Getting a baby costs like $2000 in Germany without insurance. Plus flight and hotel for two months you are still far below 10K in total cost. 😁
Is that safe? My knowledge of Columbia is limited to what I learned watching Narcos on Netflix. But it did not look like a medically advanced country.
I used the power of search engines. Looks like I’m the big cities, health care is quite adequate. Have a nice trip!
Dental work is often also not covered in the standard insurance in Germany. You either have to get an extra insurance, or you pay out of pocket, or you live with the condition (all serious things are covered, cosmetics often are not). But even then the cost is usually on the hundreds, sometimes in the thousands. 40,000 is more than the average person earns here 🙃
Scientists have to list all the sources they use. And they quickly get called out for doing mistakes in that regard and suffer a loss of trust in their work....
If it were such a wide spread issue, then science would not achieve the results it does. It lives from people checking other people’s work and arguing about the results.
It’s pretty incredible what we know about history, just from guessing by what we find and second guessing the first guess with more findings.
Or how we know pretty much all steps how the language evolved from Latin, thousands of years ago, to Italian, which is spoken today.
What I despise is when things are quite clear and politics just act like we would not know. Like how „brain drain“ is still a valid talking point while science already knows it’s false.
It is true that it is often cheaper to buy a commercial solution + support in a company, instead of using open source and employing a fleet of admins to support it.
I am against the burning of books disguised as freedom of speech.
It is bad for the environment. Too much co2 production in the process. If you must destroy books, recycle them!
The Nazis did this very popularly. I always get reminded of that, when people burn books.
I feel it is a very marginal impact into freedom of speech. I can not remember a single occasion where I had to burn a book to be able to articulate my thoughts.
I think most countries ban burning houses, even if it is infringing the freedom of speech. Why should it be different with books?
But if someone wants to become German, they must not have extremist tendencies. And not recognising an internationally recognised state is an extremist opinion.
You can still say the Israeli government is committing atrocities and should be removed from office. That is ok.
Is it even true? USA has the same concept, and a lot of decisions are on a state level. China also has a lot of different local policies, even though in a totalitarian structure. Some cities have their own government, because they are so big. Germany has 16 states, which also do their own laws.
I don’t think it would be like France, where everything is mandated from Paris.
What shows do you remember where the hero got the power item at the end? (kbin.social)
The obvious is Endgame when Iron Man had the stones....
