As Twitter ditches its iconic branding in favor of owner Elon Musk's favorite letter "X," its open source competitor Mastodon is once again seeing usage numbers soar.
The controversy around Jason Aldean’s “Try that in a Small Town” got me thinking. What are some things that you wish you could do in a small town that you just can’t?...
That does sound challenging. I mean, lack of culture in general probably makes this kind of thing difficult for so many different types of performance art.
I can see why you’d think that. For me it’s just a plain spoken expression of empathy, but I know I’m the south we use bless your heart to mock people gently.
It seems to me that over the last two weeks, the Lemmy experience has been worsening. My front page and communities are filled with Reddit re-posting bots....
I haven’t seen anything you have. My defaults are Subscribed > Active, and I usually jump to last hour, 6 hours then 12 hours after which I close Lemmy and go do something else.
If you’re somewhere where there’s sunlight, you could play on this instead of the switch. I don’t know about you, but I can’t see anything on my switch while playing in daylight.
That and as a computing device, the iPad’s battery life is second to none. My high end laptop meant for graphics and GIS lasts maybe an hour on battery. The iPad lasts half a day if not more with straight use.
i’m doing it because I want to make the fediverse more friendly place, in hopes of making it more welcoming for new users, and the nicer place in general. But I wonder how much is just less bots.
I was burned on the notion that I could no longer play Overwatch 1. I have 2 copies, one PC and one PS5, that are just coasters now. Granted things are digital these days, but restoring OW1 would be a good first step.
Like most of the other best Samsung TVs, the new 98-inch QN900C has Samsung’s Gaming Hub and Motion Xcelerator Pro. That delivers 4K at up to 120Hz, rising to 144Hz with compatible PCs. There’s also support for AMD FreeSync Premium Pro as well as NVIDIA G-Sync like most of the best gaming TVs have.
Being unphased by traumatic situations. At least right away. If a loved one dies or there’s a terrorist attack, I feel nothing until usually months go by. It then hits me randomly and I get as upset as you’d expect one to at the beginning.
I get a different reaction. People see me as disturbed or heartless, I get “What is wrong with you” and “Don’t you feel anything right now?” One time I responded with honesty. Bad call brother. I try to look upset, but it probably resembles the same level of concern one might show when trying to determine the perpetrator of an especially offensive fart.
I used to check the front page at least once every day, and occassionally check specific subreddits. Now I don’t look at reddit unless theres some drama, like mods getting purged, then I’d go there and enjoy the drama. Occasionally there will be questions that only reddit has the answer to so I have to reluctantly use it. I...
I don’t. I’ll find myself there occasionally because friends still do. I silently judge them as enablers of corporate scummery. I had been talking up Lemmy.world to the point of being insufferable and have stfu since it was hacked.
It’s a loop. Identify what the restaurant needs, what your mission needs, and what the eco society wants you to collect. Make movie, move the story along, and obtain bracelets from the eco group. Use money to upgrade gear and buy accessories. Dive deeper, for longer, and take down bigger fish. Repeat.
I can imagine people having fun getting lost in the flow of playing a competitive sport. I’ve also heard some people experience a post-workout high. But does anyone actually feel pleasure in the moment while lifting weights, jogging, cycling, etc?...
This is what it amounts to for me as well. The first 5 min of a run SUCKS, but shortly after I start to zone out. My mind wanders and sometimes it touches on stressful topics. For whatever reason, there’s no anxiety associated with it. It’s like a zen state where I can think about things objectively without emotion.
Created on June 1 of this year, lemmy.world quickly grew to 51k users and then blew up after reddit’s API debacle on July 1, doubling to a whopping 100k in just 9 days later!
You’re welcome! It might be worth it for say, I dunno. $300? But $600…
I’m waiting on Firewall to come out for PSVR2. Personally that was a reason for using the first PSVR, and the second one should be a LOT better without having to deal with tracking issues due to Move controller/PS4 camera.
I certainly feel this is the case if I try to argue with someone, particularly in a group with one person convinced of a falsehood and others in varying positions of certainty. And god help you if you concede any point due to lack of info or doubt, which just makes you look weak rather than thoughtful.
It helps with stressful situations. I do customer service these days and making the customer feel like everything is going to be okay despite everything clearly NOT being okay. Focusing on what they’re saying and the issue at hand and not on the emotional part of the situation is key to success.
I’ve learned that everyone is different. There ain’t no normal, and regardless you never know what someone is going through at any given time. Keeping this in mind is key when interacting with anyone!
THR’s report also comes on the heels of rumors that Ben Affleck himself would be returning as Daredevil for the movie, as well as rumors earlier this spring that James Marsden, Famke Janssen, and Halle Barry would return as Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Storm, respectively. These rumors are strictly that–rumors–but Garner’s...
