Boiglenoight,

Running on i5-8400, 3080ti. Runs good to great depending on whether I’m in New Atlantis.

Boiglenoight,

It does. The F1 series seems to do ok from time to time though.

Boiglenoight,

I roll my eyes every time I see them sourced for something.

Boiglenoight,

Try that in a large town?🎵

Boiglenoight,

I was merely procrastinating but yeah, now with it coming to PC I’m going to be dodging spoilers like bullets in the Matrix.

Boiglenoight,

This is me. Starfield, warts and all, is more engrossing than anything else I’ve played this year.

Boiglenoight,

I had this complaint early on. It was very disheartening.

20 hours in, I love that I can fast travel from one planet to another in an entirely different solar system, to the building I need to get to.

Boiglenoight,

Valve doesn’t get the credit it deserves for innovating if not keeping alive the PC space. Steam came out at a time where PC gaming was dying on store shelves, there was no support for it by triple A publishers…it was a dark time. And everyone hated Steam at first. Took a lot of work attracting smaller/indie devs to the platform to prove itself as a viable option for larger publishers.

They’ve proven that Linux is a great operating system for games, and without the overhead that is Windows. The ability to natively play Windows games isn’t enough of a draw for me to use the Ally or Legion.

Boiglenoight,

For me it’s scanning vs. reading. Too often I’ll think I’ve read something, react to it, only to see after the fact that I missed something because I was in fact -not- reading but scanning. Email is an example. I get so much of it, I scan and skim, and inevitably get bit by this bad habit, often more than once a day. It’s a disservice to the person e-mailing me, I know, but there are a LOT of people and I suppose the (poor) rationale is that at least everyone is getting some attention. I know it’s better to get to what I can and things that I can’t just need to wait.

How do I avoid becoming a crotchety old man? I’m seriously asking.

You know the type, probably a good father or worker, but serious faced all the time, never smiles, often in a bad mood, very cynical. It’s just I feel like I’m on the path to this, I’m 28, just escaped 12 years of food service so I’m already super cynical and if someone comes up to me, I’m super ready to shut down...

Boiglenoight,

Don’t worry about it, accept it as a stage of life and do it with style. Start cataloging a lot of zingers aimed at young people being foolish and practice your delivery of the word “dumbass” so that it can be used to end most sentences.

Boiglenoight,

As a casual viewer of LTT this is surprising. The show seemed relatively wholesome and helpful, but obviously I missed moments to the contrary that people are pointing out now. Being an infrequent watcher, seeing threads suddenly popup that call for Linus to step back/step down are like whaaaaaat. Internet is a fast moving place.

Boiglenoight,

Boom shooter, OG FPS, I don’t care what you call it. Just more please.

Using an LG Ultragear 34GK950F-B. Interested in upgrading to a 16:9. What's the best 27 inch monitor for gaming?

I want to switch back to a traditional 16:9 and looking for opinions on the best 27 inch monitor currently available. A lot of folks on Amazon seem to dig this one from AOC, but I’ve never bought anything other than Dell or LG over the years. It’s inexpensive, that’s for sure.

Boiglenoight,

I love ultrawide for work, and like it for FPS and racing. However, anything with a mouse driven user interface where I travel more to click action bars, shortcuts, etc. gets on my nerves. Then there’s older games that don’t support ultrawide that display black bars instead. I think there’s more to like about a larger 16:9 for me when gaming is concerned.

Do you have any advice on dealing with these issues I have? I reckon it doesn’t bother everyone.

Boiglenoight,

Money is no problem. I’ll include that in my search. I guess burn in isn’t a problem anymore?

Boiglenoight,

Only to look at the logo occasionally. Wondering who’s idea that was and whether they’re still employed or affiliated with CNET.

Boiglenoight,

It’s not like they’re going to go broke. They’ll just lose some millions over the vast gains made with bad behavior, get bailed out with tax money from the little people, and do it again in 10-20 years after regulators retire or get replaced with ones sympathetic to business.

Boiglenoight,

They will lose some money, with the consequences of a recession, only to gain it back through corporate welfare and a return to business as usual as the recession ends.

Boiglenoight,

Don’t care. I <3 Lemmy. Community’s great. If I could filter out Reddit posts here I would, including this one.

Boiglenoight,

Thanks! I’m unfamiliar with scripts. I’ve installed Tampermonkey and installed the script in Edge. I’ve made it to the Settings page and there are several boxes (Original Includes/Excludes, etc.). The only box that allows input is the Comments section at the bottom? I’m probably missing something simple…😅

Boiglenoight,

It was. Thanks. I was somehow getting into the more overall settings of Tampermonkey.

Boiglenoight,

Take Battlefield 2, give it the latest gaming engine, and leave it alone.

Boiglenoight,

I’ve been getting back into Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on Switch. It’s amazing how well that game holds up and it’s what, 5 years old at least on the Switch alone?

Boiglenoight,

Are you playing the standard or GotY / Complete edition?

Boiglenoight,

Same here. It felt really good, looking forward to it.

Boiglenoight,

I tried to see everything there was to see in Valhalla. I had to stop. There were just other games to play.

Boiglenoight,

That’s the way to play. Trying to grind the game and do everything…it’s a lot. Best to either just plow through the singleplayer main story if you want to move on or play a little at a time over the course of 10 years.

Boiglenoight,

Yeap. The quality of the quests were bad. Maybe good for a AssCreed game, but compared to modern counterparts in the genre, weak. Witcher 3 is the high bar for me.

Boiglenoight,

Content overload imo.

The Weekly Discussion Topic - Roguelikes - 28-07-2023 (lemmy.world)

Hello all, this is the first post in a series of posts I’ll be making weekly to drum up some diverse discussion relating to all different aspects of gaming. I figured I would start with what I know, and so the first topic is thus: roguelike games. (If you think any of the below description is wrong or misleading, let me know -...

Boiglenoight,

Synthetik is so much fun. I don’t know many people who play it though or know of it.

Boiglenoight,

No Rogue Legacy love? I played the heck out of that one on both PC and PS4. The 2nd one is good as well, but it hasn’t grabbed me quite like the first.

Boiglenoight,

Not really. This guy’s an ass. He’s not harming anyone else’s property, though.

Boiglenoight,

Thats. Pretty dang awesome gj!

Brands that don't buy enough Twitter ads will lose verification (www.theverge.com)

Starting August 7th, advertisers that haven’t reached certain spending thresholds will lose their official brand account verification. According to emails obtained by the WSJ, brands need to have spent at least $1,000 on ads within the prior 30 days or $6,000 in the previous 180 days to retain the gold checkmark identifying...

Boiglenoight,

Getting low on popcorn…

Boiglenoight,

I have not. Given the likelihood of getting what I’m asking for, might be a means of losing weight.

Boiglenoight,

And OJ went on to live a long, happy, and peaceful life. I was especially glad to see him being honored by Hollywood and the NFL.

Boiglenoight,

Don’t know don’t care. There’s a community here now and it’s healthy.

Boiglenoight,

Just call them “clips.” /s Seriously though, the aesthetic of Kbin is its best feature, but the concept behind the threads seems. I dunno. Weird. Lemmy feels janky and basic, like old Reddit. 💗

Boiglenoight,

Yes. Anytime someone starts trying to explain the Fediverse to someone signing up I want to put my hand on their face and tell the newbie right this way.

Boiglenoight,

There’s some of that, but I prefer it for something like micro blogging. I want to see different things, points of view. By contrast, I’ll go to a news site for specific info. I love Mastodon because there’s a unvarnished stream of information that isn’t curated by algorithms. :D

Boiglenoight,

Yet all the restaurants in town offer some version of deep fried Probably a coping mechanism. I eat when I’m depressed.

Boiglenoight,

I think you’re right to be skeptical. I keep meaning to try it myself, but I’m easily distracted. I’ll likely find motivation in the fall when I go on vacation.
