Bipta,

How dense are you, on a scale from lead to osmium?

Bipta,

I had to scroll way too far for this.

Bipta,

Dr. Katz Professional Therapist

Bipta,

The joke is how vile things have become so normalized that we're able to compartmentalize them so we can try to enjoy something more normal.

Bipta,

There's no way to know if it's all men or only gay men this is true for, besides it being only anecdotal.

Bipta,

So, just use the stock electron, optimally the system one

What? The system what?

recommendations for lightweight window managers for an old netbook

Hi, I’ve got an old netbook from Samsung that has an old Intel Atom CPU (Intel Atom N455 1.66 GHz). I installed Arch on it and am now thinking of a suitable window manager. I tried Hyprland (kinda expecting it to not work really) whick didn’t start at all. Before I had Debian with Gnome, which technically worked, but...

Bipta,

Xfce is the best bang for your buck. Lxde isn't much lighter and I never enjoyed using it. I think Lxqt is somewhere between them.

Bipta,

Why survive if we're going to be so wretched? How do people value life itself above the quality of that life?

Bipta,

Boy do I love the future.

This may seem kind of stupid but I am kind of stupid, is there a list somewhere of phrases that are stupid or insensitive racially or gender biased?

I just got up from conversation with a couple of older black men, that I said “well I got to go back to work and start cracking the whip.” And it occurred to me then that it was probably a really insensitive stupid thing to say....

Bipta,

I actually looked into this two days ago. I came across a PDF that was maybe six years old but already outdated. It's a problem when it's this difficult to keep up. I know it's a problem to not try to keep up too though. The human condition sucks.

Bipta,

And Indian cuts. I realized it was racist when I heard the next generation calling them Chinese cuts.

Bipta,

You don't owe it to anyone or anything to stay informed

We live in society. We all owe each other some things. Not being a clueless idiot is one of them.

Bipta,

iirc gold is considered worthless.

Bipta,

I really doubt it. Have you seen reality? I wish the whole thing was satire.

Bipta,

Same here. I like Sam Altman but if the board removed him for a good reason and he was reinstated because the employees want payouts, humanity could be in big trouble.

Bipta,

That's what happens when the wealth is shared with those who make it. Everyone becomes a capitalist.

Bipta,

Kbin uses Gitlab so it's too bad.

Bipta,

Wow, they really are just like humans!

Bipta,

Okay but did you know about the owl?

Bipta,

So upsettingly accurate.

Bipta,

What exactly do you think the US is doing that's the equivalent of Russia having troops in Mexico? Hell if I can figure it out.

You sure very much describing appeasement. Russian officials have repeatedly let slip their desire to go further into Europe. There is really no difference.

And I'm someone more sympathetic than most to Russia's, "we had to do it," argument.

Bipta,

Larger power plants that don't carry their fuel are much more efficient, but we're still fucked if we don't phase them out.

Bipta,

Is one of those from Love Death + Robots?

Bipta,

White LED bulbs are the devil's work.

Bipta,

How else will they keep the ones they plan to hurt inside the country?

Bipta,

Wow this looks great. Amend an old commit dealing with a rebase? Sign me up!

Homer has stopped strangling Bart in The Simpsons and it’s about time (www.theguardian.com)

Nothing lasts forever. In time, the continents will crash into each other once more, the sun will swallow the planet and, at some point long after that, The Simpsons will end. But that isn’t to say that it’s incapable of moving with the times before then. Because, in yet another nod to shifting tastes, Homer Simpson has...

Bipta,

They're not sure what they're going to do. They took away his voice for now, so they're largely avoiding showing him.

Bipta,

I think there are a lot of places for comedy besides paid ads that will mislead people. There's no good reason to allow political deep fakes in advertising.

Bipta,

I've never seen a paperclip small enough to eject a SIM card.

Bipta,

Not the same person, but all sorts of random "people" - often with Cyrillic characters in the name.

Bipta,

If they do I'll finally switch to Linux. I tried once and Windows 11 was just simpler, but if they pulled this I'd have no choice.

Bipta,

You sound so much like me with the, "again."

I think the second time is the charm with jumping to Linux.

Bipta,

The weight part has me concerned about 2024...

Bipta,

"the angles"

Bipta,

Wow fuck Intuit. I'll make sure I never give them another dollar in my life.

Bipta,

Your post started off weak and got weaker and weaker until you finally succumbed to your true thoughts: "eating animals feels good."

Omega 3 in bacon is virtually non-existent. It's a 1:10 ratio omega 3 to omega 6, versus 1:1 in fish. It's the ratio that matters, not the absolute amount.

Bipta,

I replaced it with BleachBit after their auto-updater led to a situation where everyone was advised to wipe Windows.

Bipta,

Let's not forget crushing the middle and lower classes, taking away things for them to live for. That doesn't cause you to hear voices but it certainly can't help.

Bipta,

Hyper-intensification seems to be the new normal.

Well, until 2030 when we upgrade to ultra-hyper-intensification.

Bipta,

Just replying to confirm that "strictly necessary" has never meant, "makes us money." It means technically necessary.

Bipta,

Now software runs our lives, spies on us, navigates for us and nobody cares. Wild.

Bipta,

308 plus the 1200...

1200 is a number provided by Israel.

Bipta,

This is very dangerous advice.

For South Korea maybe not. If you go to China you'd better take all the precautions.

Bipta,

Except in this case it costs you not just your backyard but basically your entire life.
