I'm also no expert but I imagine the idea here is to disable the vehicle such that it requires towing. If they try to tow it, the Ukrainians take out the towing vehicle when it arrives and now there are two vehicles that need towing. Repeat until the Russians give up on towing it.

While the quality is uneven, it's still the show on IMDb last I checked, and most people have never even considered watching it.
