If this takes off, it will be bypassed within a month. Adversarial training is something Stable Diffusion users already invented, and we use it to make our artwork better by poisoning the dataset to teach the network what a wrong result looks like. They reinvented our wheel.
You can play both Epic and GOG games on the Steam Deck, and you can do it with or without the Epic and GOG launchers. Your choice. I did so today, in fact.
The Steam Deck runs Linux. That means anything that runs on Linux, and most things that run on Windows or Android can be run. Including Windows-only software.
Idk why people act in this day and age like the Steam Deck is some crippled device. Unless your desktop runs Linux, your Steam Deck can run more things than it can.
I’m having a ton of fun playing it with friends. One of the best games I’ve played this year. We had to drag ourselves off of it so we could go to sleep.
Have you been spending hours trying to pass a level? Or maybe you are completely addicted to a newly bought game. Do you have a question about a game or would like to share something else? In the Weekly Discussion Thread, you can do it all!...
Return to Moria. It’s a lot of fun, adventuring through a Dwarven mine with a few friends. It was hard to put down, but I suppose we need to eat and sleep at some point.
The tool, called Nightshade, messes up training data in ways that could cause serious damage to image-generating AI models. Is intended as a way to fight back against AI companies that use artists’ work to train their models without the creator’s permission....
If this is all artists brought to the table, it wasn’t even a fight. SD is trained on vast data sets, this little effort won’t be but a drop in the ocean.
Don’t be too gidy, it won’t work. SD is already trained on poisoned datasets to help it differentiate poorly generated images. We call it “adversarial training”. If this was gonna stop us from making AI artwork, , it already would have.
The last time this popped up was months ago on reddit, and the tool they came up with did something that could be reversed as a batch job using any image manipulator. Which means somebody will write a Stable Diffusion plug-in to fix these images.
I was getting blocked for having uBlock Origin, but how I solved that was to purge the filter lists in the settings and re-download them. Now I can watch again.
Smart tube, or I’ve been told a pi hole works as well. I haven’t bothered with that though, because I don’t like watching YT on TV myself. Out of the two, the pi hole is probably the better option since it works with all your devices.
To clarify, the location service is turned on remotely during an emergency call or after texting an emergency number to let first responders know where an emergency is, but it is turned off afterwards by the phone if it was disabled beforehand. And it’s only turned on during the call that the user initiates, emergency services cannot remotely turn it on, because it is the phone that actually manages the permissions and computes the location and not the dispatcher. Neither Android nor iOS allows emergency services to remotely turn on location services without you calling them first, since that would be a violation of your privacy and would absolutely be abused by law enforcement.
So everyone should be advised that you cannot check the location of a loved one unless you arrange it before you end up needing it.
Got reminded of this while reading about ProtonMail. The reason I haven't gotten into proper #piracy is that I don't have a VPN for torrenting, and the reason I don't have a VPN is that I don't #torrent. So it would be nice if I got a good VPN while #degoogling myself.
Will ProtonVPN rat me out to Comcast? I know some VPNs don't hide what you're downloading from your ISP, for reasons I don't fully understand.
This is how I do it, but since I use KDE I just loaded up the configure file in the connection settings and pasted in my password. Took about 10 seconds.
Open the extension settings, purge the filter lists and then update them all. I was getting warnings and I did this, and I haven’t had any further warnings.
Just a reminder, one of the largest investors in Brave is a right-wing billionaire who runs a corporate espionage agency that contracts with the US Department of Defense to spy on people.

What does being Jewish have to do with Israel? Are you conflating the two? Blaming Jews for what Israel has been doing for decades is pretty anti-semetic.
I mean, I hope not, but given the US history in the middle east, it wouldn’t surprise me. He’s not exactly the right person to be complaining about that, though.
Hamas is the only group in this world standing up for the Palestinian people, so I would support them too, we’re I locked up in that open air prison, my family and friends being constantly murdered for profit.
I have seen many people in this community either talking about switching to Brave, or people who are actively using Brave. I would like to remind people that Brave browser (and by extension their search engine) is not privacy-centric whatsoever....
Let’s not forget one of the biggest investors is a right-wing billionaire who runs a corporate intelligence agency that contracts with the DoD. And the only proof we have that he doesn’t collect data on Brave’s users is the questionable word of the devs.
Of course it is! But Peter Thiel isn’t bipartisan, so idk what that has to do with his involvement in Brave. He self-identifies as far-right. Not leftist, liberal, or independent. And since we’re talking specifically about Brave and Thiel, I don’t really care about whataboutism in this context.

US warns of Chinese disinformation. China says that’s disinformation By Mengchen Zhang, Teele Rebane and Heather Chen, CNN Published 3:20 AM EDT, Sun October 1, 2023...
I’m a pretty heavy torrent user, running a media server complete with sonarr/radarr for automatic downloads. I download a lot, and have multiple TBs of upload on various private trackers. I’ve been torrenting forever, but I’ve always wondered about usenet. Over and over on this, and other, forums I see people saying that...
It’s better because you don’t have to worry about ratios or finding torrents with seeders. You just download the media at whatever the maximum speed your connection can handle is. So you could, for example, download a 4gb episode for something 30 seconds after Sonarr checks for it.
As for the technical aspects, you don’t have to worry too about it, because since you use Sonarr it will handle most of the work, just like it does with torrents. The only problem I’ve found is there’s often not a lot of lower quality stuff on Usenet, so unless you tweak your Sonarr settings you’re gonna end up downloading 40gb anime episodes, because that’s the first thing Sonarr finds.
If it was someplace in Europe, absolutely. I would have zero qualms about ditching this dystopia. Sure, other places have their issues, but few are as bad the the US. With the far right takeover of the Supreme Court, it won’t be very long until the “land of the free” is no freer than Russia or China.
I recently moved to the USA, from the middle east. My English is pretty good, and I don’t have a lot of trouble communicating with people at work or in stores. I also don’t know anyone here at all, outside of work. All my family is still back in Gaza, and I’ve been here over a year now, and still feel cut off from American...
Several people have recommended hiking groups, and that’s a really good option. Hikers are generally very friendly people, and you can meet a lot of very interesting people on the trails from all over the world. The United States is also gifted to have many vast and diverse wilderness parks that are federally protected, so you can definitely experience some absolutely wonderful landscapes that might be very different than where you grew up. We also have many thousands of miles of trails, including the Appalachian Trail, Pacific Crest Trail, and Continental Divide Trail, each of which is at least 2,100 miles long.
There are also very many other outdoor activities that Americans have long traditions with, so if you want exposed to more of the local cultures, find something to do outside that you’ve never tried before. Fishing, hunting, hiking, backpacking, kayaking, and camping are just a few of the popular ones.
Wait till they find out photographers spend their whole careers trying to emulate the style of previous generations. Or that Adobe has been implementing AI-driven content creation into Photoshop and Lightroom for years now, and we’ve been pretending we don’t notice because it makes our jobs easier.
I don’t pirate because I’m opposed to paying for things. I pirate stuff because I don’t want to support scumbag corporations that don’t give a shit about me. In fact, I buy most of the media and games I consume, in order to support the devs behind it.
And that’s not a “new piracy gen”, that’s how piracy has always been for most people. You’re the odd one out here.
I can hear all the hexbears stroking out as they furiously type five paragraph replies on why this is NATO propaganda, followed by an essay on why Tiananmen Square never happened, and even if it did it wasn’t that bad.
I hadn’t cried in 7 years and decided to do some emotional exercises to make myself cry. So I managed to cry about 4 months ago, haven’t been able to since even with my grandmothers death. Might start trying again.
First of all, punishing devs you don’t like is a slippery slope that opens a lot of people to abuse they don’t deserve. Second of all, I would be very surprised if any of those asset flip games are going to be making $200k. Third, they specifically state in the article you won’t be able to install bomb a dev just because you don’t like them.
As much as I despise Musk for being a total piece of shit, this isn’t treason. Technically, we aren’t even allies with Ukraine. The argument could certainly be made that this works against the interests of the United States, but that alone isn’t treason because it isn’t a crime for citizens to oppose the US, especially when it’s private property the US is being lent. Because at that time, the US hadn’t signed a contract with Musk yet.
If he did this again, then it would be a breach of contract, but still wouldn’t be treason. People being charged with treason is very rare, because it’s a such a high bar to meet.
I use ad blockers and open source privacy focused software whenever I can but occasionally I have to use computers that don’t belong to me or an older phone where my usual applications aren’t installed and seeing all the advertisements just feels dirty and dystopian....
You’re pretty much gonna have to switch browsers. There are other options, but they don’t work as well as uBlock Origin. The best alternative to that is a VPN that blocks ads, like Proton. But they aren’t as good at blocking. They will, however, remove most ads, and from other apps as well.
