This guy wouldn’t have insurance, or he’d have to get it on the marketplace. He’d qualify for some subsidies but it wouldn’t be free. If you’re part time you usually don’t get insurance, and Obamacare means tests who gets subsidies for insurance.
It’s not easy to get a second job when you already have a job. Scheduling conflicts happen all the time and both jobs will assume they have a monopoly on your time. Getting 25 hours at a place you want to have 40 and being unable to find a second job is pretty common. Not to mention you don’t get health insurance at either place.
I FUCKING HATE THIS SERVICE. Assholes don’t let you delete your account and ask you to go to their privacy policy page and read through 500 pages of text to find the instructions on how to delete your account, only for it to say you have to contact them to delete it, and when you contact them they never respond back other than...
An Italian holiday may be a priceless experience for those who have enjoyed all this country has to offer. But the summer of 2023 will go down as one of the priciest in history after a slew of price gouging scandals at cafes and restaurants that have affected foreign tourists and Italians alike.
You make minimum wage over the course of a whole pay period. Because tips vary, some nights you may work nearly for free as long as later in the pay period you make enough tips to get you to minimum wage for that whole week/two weeks. People have the impression that you get minimum wage as a baseline that you can’t fall below on a given day. It does actually work that way on the West Coast of the US and a few other states, but not the majority.
Been seeing a lot about how the government passes shitty laws, lot of mass shootings and expensive asf health care. I come from a developing nation and we were always told how America is great and whatnot. Are all states is America bad ?
Some states are better than others. Washington is a better state than Alabama. New York is better than Florida. California is better than Texas. There’s a trend here: the states where the ruling party institutes at least European social democracy-lite are the best to live in.
Or at least less so than Reddit. It’s good, but, I can’t put my finger on it. Even when the content is good, the servers are up, and I’m getting notifications responding to comments, it’s never come to me doomscrolling for hours....
Too much repeated content on my feed. I like it, but I need to be able to auto hide previously viewed posts for this platform to be the kind of doomscroller reddit was.
I hate the word ‘Consumer’ or I mockingly call it ‘CONSOOMER’. Because that’s to imply everyone in the world is just cattle, but with wallets. We’re no longer customers. We’re consumers now. And a consumer’s purpose is to consume shit, whatever is put out there. Got money? Shut up and consume, it’s what...
I guess that’s true, though the biggest problem homeless people have is typically lacking a home. It feels a little off to me to describe someone who feels at home living itinerantly as homeless.

Defunct, now, but Revolutions by Mike Duncan is an EXCELLENT breakdown of many historical revolutions, including all the major figures and intellectual currents that inspired and led them.
I plan to go out in nature on my horse with a joint but am concerned because I’m not entirely sure how quick I’ll go from high to stoned to encumbered. The goal isn’t to be couch locked but to help with my anxiety. The previous time I got high it was somewhat light and the second time nothing happened. I don’t want to...
It’s worth noting that horse riding is more dangerous than motocross. I don’t want to harsh your buzz if you’re an excellent rider, but if somebody told me they were going to smoke a joint and then go motocrossing I’d be a bit worried about them.

What thing are you exponentially more experienced in than the average person?
What is the best skill you possess that makes you stand above the average person?
Anyone else feel that Lemmy just *isn't* addictive?
