The word can have swearing but not genderisation which might be offensive (mother) nor allusions to sexual dominance (motherfucker). Nor, other possibly offensive connotations. It seems that the word is commonplace and people won’t stop using it, so an alternative to the word may be useful. But the problem with alternatives,...
I grew up with a thick Australian accent with a drawl I dislike, and have been consciously trying to change it for a while. The problem is I tried to make it sound more American at first but keep getting drawn to speaking “Britishly”. Now it’s a Frankenstein of all 3 accents and I don’t know what to go with....
I want to be respectful but if they say they don’t care what pronouns I use for them, that feels like it puts the decision on me to choose what to call them and I guess I would probably default to “they” because choosing a gender for them feels weird… am I wrong?
Thanks, I do believe that they’re fine with whatever pronouns I call them by, this was more of a me problem about not knowing what to actually call them in that case lol. Like paradox of choice kind of, except I also wonder about what my choice might indicate to them and whether I should randomise it or base it on something.
People often talk about swapping out plastic straws for other materials to help the ocean/fish and the environment, but they also complain about paper straws falling apart easily. Other alternatives that are slightly more sturdy like straws made of straw don’t seem very common....
While child labor is viewed negatively, apparently child labor and child slavery aren’t the same thing, and child labor though it could still be exploitative/cruel in other ways, can be done voluntarily by the child, and with fair treatment/compensation/etc....
What age is that? Unless they’re really young, isn’t that somewhat denying their ability to make their own decisions? What if they truly want to work and make money or get experience at a younger age?
What if they worked outside of school hours/while still maintaining their education? Depending on the job, it could help start their career and benefit them that way as well.
I was wondering if the cobalt mined for smartphones could be done ethically, even if they still needed to use children for it. What if the children clearly consent to working and are treated well in good conditions and paid fairly?
I tend to agree, but what about making a child do chores in a family household? Most children don’t want to do it and some don’t get anything in return, the tasks can sometimes be grueling. Would that always be unethical, or only when taken to an excessive degree that severely impacts the child?
I guess education might be worth prioritizing over making an early start on their career, but I don’t know, I could see a career move potentially even being more important if it’s a good opportunity.

I use Letterboxd to manage my watchlist of movies. It’s great because if I hear about a movie, I can add it to the watchlist, and if I’m looking for something to watch, I have a whole list! Even better, my partner uses the same app and it has a setting to show movies on both watchlists, which speeds things up a lot....
I’m not sure if this is what you’re looking for but I use releases.com to track upcoming shows/movies and get alerted to when they’re coming out, and I use the same site as a watchlist even though it’s not specifically made for that (I think)
While half-asleep, I heard and saw my door creak and open wide. Then when I woke up later, it was fully closed. Is it possible I hallucinated it?

Is there an alternative to "motherfucker" that people would actually use?

If someone's pronouns are any/all, what should I use or how should I determine how to refer to you and what pronouns to use?
