thanks for the tip, i'm already on firefox, but when run it said i had "some protection" for both blocking tracking ads, and blocking invisible trackers, added privacy badgers after reading your post, because why not, and now it says YES for both
Another reading from Shakespeare in Early Modern pronunciation. This time a bit from the finale of Richard III, when Richmond addresses his troops. (Actual text begins at 0:27, Richmond's speech at 1:20)
I gave Richmond innovative mid-vowels, & a monophthongal reflex of ME /au/, but a conservative retention of the fricative (with no diphthongization) in words like "night".

Boosting threads is useful in that it helps shift a post from 'new' (which most people don't check) to 'hot' (which is the default feed for most people). Posts from small communities often die with 0 upvotes and 0 downvotes without that.
Just did a little unscientific test. Made a post in a community that usually gets 20+ upvotes within an hour. No self-boost puts it at 1 upvote after an hour.
Android supports multiple payment providers. Some banks implement their own payment provider (e.g. Sparkasse in Germany), most just rely on Google Pay (now Google Wallet). Google Wallet has strict requirements for the Play Integrity API. Because of the modifications to Android that GrapheneOS is implementing, it is not eligible to receive the required integrity attestation and thus, Google Wallet is refusing to work. Google could at any point reconsider and certify/whitlelist GrapheneOS, which would allow Google Wallet to work using GrapheneOS. Likelihood close to 0.
Any banking app implementing their own payment provider is completely independent of this decision unless it also relies on Play Integrity API attestation (or a similar mechanism).
I think the ammo for the beam weapons is a bit stressful. I just got them and am wondering if using an infinite ammo cheat will ruin the experience or if it will make the game more enjoyable....
I feel like the ammo aspect is a big part of what makes the game challenging. Like others have said, you can always get more ammo by using the opposite beam (i.e. killing enemies with the light beam gives dark beam ammo and vice versa), and you can also use the charge beam for a free shot even with 0 ammo.
All of that put together can lead to some of the most exciting boss battles where you’re out or almost out of ammo but still have a chance to get the final blow in before they do. Infinite ammo wouldn’t necessarily ruin the game overall in my opinion, exploring would still be fun and exciting. But it would certainly rob you of those exciting moments.
Thanks, I did not know that you could still charge shot while at 0 ammo. This makes a big difference for me. Part of the stress was worrying about having ammo to solve a puzzle.
It probably won’t always work, but pressing 0 is usually a “hidden” option that’ll connect you to a human. It used to be used to connect people to an operator, and many companies still use it that way, even if they don’t advertise it.
The Gaza director for the United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees says the average Palestinian in Gaza is living on two pieces of Arabic bread made from flour that the U.N. had stockpiled in the region.
factoid actualy just statistical error. average palestinian eats 0 pieces of bread per day. Breads Georg, who lives in cave & eats over 190,000 each hour, is an outlier adn should not have been counted
Only one item can be delivered at a time. It can’t weigh more than 5 pounds. It can’t be too big. It can’t be something breakable, since the drone drops it from 12 feet. The drones can’t fly when it is too hot or too windy or too rainy....
I can’t imagine an “open to the general public” flying car system that didn’t involve huge amounts of automation, basically self-flying planes. A modern jet liner is effectively self-flying already. And, even though the pilots are rarely required to take direct control over the jets the alcohol limit is 0% and they’re not even allowed to drink within 8 hours of a flight. So, to have a scenario with “drunk flyers in bad weather” you’d need a system with looser rules than current aviation, and less automation that current aviation.
Also, there’s no air bag in the world that can save you in a crash.
No, but there are parachutes.
Besides, most fiction involving flying cars also involves automated flying cars. Sure, often the “hero” takes direct control of the car and does some crazy maneuvers with it, but in the futures where flying cars exist, autopilots are extremely advanced, and most commuters just hit the button and relax. In addition, if an autopilot did exist, it could become “driver assist” if the human decides to take “direct control”. So, even in a future with frustrated aerial commuters who get “sky rage” and decide to take over flying from the autopilot, a “pilot assist” program could still interpret what they want and limit the danger they pose to themselves or other craft.
The F-16 is almost 50 years old now, and for those 50 years it has been impossible for pilots to fly it with “assists off”. The plane was designed from the start to be dynamically unstable. A pilot simply couldn’t control it without computer assistance. The pilot uses a fly-by-wire system where their inputs are interpreted by computers that do the right thing while still maintaining stability and so-on. A future flying car would pretty obviously be designed the same way.
For the one year they weren’t riding around in cars? Btw that study has been majorly debunked, it included kids 0-19 and only took place in Philly, NYC, Chicago, Baltimore, and LA, our areas particularly known for gang violence, gangs which are famously all populated with people under 25 (cause usually they don’t live much longer, or get arrested, or quit but that’s the least popular option.)
The radon could also go up to the first floor of your house, especially with closed windows. We had a finished basement, and bought a radon detector (radoneye), we found out we had over 1800 Becquerel/m3 downstairs and about 1500 upstairs. It quickly goes away when we opened the windows but also comes back completely within days.
It’s a huge amount so we got the fan installed and we are now at 15 and 0. It costs us about $1500 to install.
For those who get the system installed, please keep in mind that depending on how your house is built, you may need to extract the gas from the two halves of the basement if you have a slab right in the middle used as some sort of foot. You’d have to check the blueprint to know. The installer might have an idea too depending on the construction year of the house.
The amount of people warped by COD or Lolicon is not 100%, but it’s certainly not 0%
It sounds like you haven’t actually played COD because the game is about WARFARE, not domestic terrorism. Maybe ask people who joined the US military how inspired they were by the game
I ended up getting a few alerts, and each time I tested negative…but I do wonder how accurate the exposure determination was, since for me it was always false positives.
How are you determining you got a false positive? The app alerts you if you were exposed to someone with COVID while out and about in your day. Just because you didn’t catch COVID from your exposure does not mean the app gave you a false positive. Just that you weren’t close to them long enough and/or your immune system, hygiene, or luck fought it off.
Only way you could really say you got a “false positive” was if you got an alert, for a certain day but knew that you had 0 interaction with people (you never left the house and no one came over during your alert).
I think there probably can be adjustments made with more research, which at the time was unrealistic, since we were in the middle of it. For the alerts to be meaningful, they should be actionable, and receiving an alert should tell the person they should take a test. If 9 times out of 10 the alert turns up a negative covid test, then it’s not really reliable, and people won’t see use in taking them seriously (aka Alarm Fatigue). Fine tuning the parameters of the alert can improve this rate, for example requiring longer durations in close proximity and/or closer distance between devices.
Of course dialing things too extreme would lead to “false negatives” which would be even harder to test for and validate, because of the nature of the recorded history on the device. Ideally there’d be 0 false negatives and 0 false positives, where every alert resulted in a positive covid test, and no positive covid test wasn’t prompted by an alert. This is obviously unrealistic, but finding a good balance would make the alerts reliable, and useful. Since this system is going away, it doesn’t really matter, but the principals of alerting are still important to consider in any system, especially where health & safety are involved.

I have torrents that have never completed due to lack of seeds and peers.
That’s what failing means here. You know how you sometimes see a torrent site list a non-zero number of seeders but when you try to download it, you don’t connect to any of them and it shows 0 seeders in your client? That’s what happens when neither you nor the seeders have port forwarding set up.
Classifying Israel as Apartheid is valid if and only if Israel and Palestinians in the west bank define themselves as Israelis and treat themselves as part of the Israeli national. Surprise surprise - they don’t. Neither. Israel classifies Palestinians as basically foreigners, hence no citizen right. And Palestinians don’t try to push against it because all they want is a country of their own. Now, providing a Palestinian state is a whole subject in itself, but basically it’s hard. And not enough foreign power is used to make it happen - that’s the real disservice done to the Palestinians. They never ever talked about Israel accepting them to Israeli society, and no one expects that of them. They’re literal foreigners to Israel, with work permits. Of course they won’t have a government vote.
Another point was the jewish nature of Israel and how it discriminates - and that’s just true. There’s indeed a case to be made of Israel needing to be some part jewish, but Israel politics and laws are fucked up, especially regarding settlements. Let’s hope they get their shit together and have a working government who actually does good.
And lastly, Gazans moving south. Does anybody in this world remember what war’s like? Does anybody remember how many German civilian homes were bombed by the brits in WW2? Does anyone remember the civilian casualties Germany suffered?
War is war. And war is horrible. But expecting a country who just had its worst attack on its land ever to not fight the ones responsible, is extremely privileged by the world. Any state encountering such a big threat on civilian lives would do everything to destroy that threat. And that’s what they’re doing. The war won’t end when all Gazans are dead - it’ll end when Hamas has 0 armed terrorists, and 0 threatening capabilities. And that’s a goal no one can criticize Israel for pursuing. (Obviously you can criticize their methods - but relative to all recent conflicts - they really are avoiding civilian lives as much as possible considering their enemy.)
GURPS is such a great system. A lot of rules, but they all make sense, and it’s so flexible.
THAC0 (To Hit Armor Class 0) was an attempt to simplify combat in earlier editions. Before then, each class had a table they had to refer to to know what they had to roll to hit a particular armor class. It’s much simpler in 5e.
Haha perfect. Glad she can hear now. But lol yeah, maybe a little early to start.
Honestly I wouldn’t know really, I think it’s all kind of subjective. My nephews started expressing interest anywhere from 4-12 years old. Exposure can/will help though usually. The nephews and nieces that saw and heard me or my BIL play more got interested earlier. A ukulele is kind of automatically in an open tuning so you can just strum or pick the strings without even doing anything with the fret hand and it sounding nice can encourage them to learn more - when you can just make something that sounds nice with minimal effort it will make it easier to apporach. I didn’t even teach them any chords at first. Just kind of show like, how much you can do with just going up and down one string with even just one finger can make something that sounds nice. Kids are still developing the muscles their fingers and motor functions, just like adults who don’t play or use their fingers in such a way, but I think it might be even harder for kids. I can remember a hundred times I almost gave up be cause it was just too hard physically to hold the chords, especially on an oversized classical guitar for tiny child hands.
Like you can even try for yourself. You don’t even need to tune the uke differently, just strum the open strings and then go up and down a basic scale on the highest pitched (E) string (on the bottom of the neck): 0-2-3-5-7-8-10-12 frets, in different variations and find a melody. You don’t need to do anything with any other string, just strum the open strings along with that one string. Just as an example. From there just expand the same mentality to other strings and start using more fingers. Too much theory can kill any interest very quickly and personally I think it’s such an ass-backwards way to approach music. Like learning grammar and how to write before learning to speak.

Why is the DEA and ATF separate? Seems like they cover similar things from similar circles.
Is it because alcohol, tobacco, and firearms also have legal pathways? So they spend time tracking down cheats and checking/enforcing regulations?
