As a person who worked in the industry for a decade, they clearly don’t care, or they would have said something. I’d only care if you were starting trouble and that is clearly not the case. Some bars will care about bringing in outside food or drinks, but that’s about it.

My honest advice: just order a water from the bar. In most bars (at least in America) the water is free and the bartender will just assume you’re the DD, and it might shut your clearly crazy/controlling friend there up.

Middle-aged and some what tongue tied (medical condition) anyone else in this situation, and go through with the procedure?

I’m a middle aged guy, who, a few years ago, was off handedly told by a dental hygienist while getting my teeth cleaned, that I was tongue tied. I’ve had a flap of skin under my tongue which holds it down, it isn’t severe, but it does restrict my tongues mobility. For instance, I can’t really stick my tongue out very far...

Not exactly what you’re looking for, BUT the best bet would probably be jabber/xmpp. There is a server involved but you can be that server with a ras pi or an old laptop, or VPS, and with OMEMO e2ee, the server can’t see message content only “bob sends X to john.” And as the server owner you can keep no logs and trust yourself.

Worked pizza for a Jordanian dude for a number of years, great dude, great food, but no pork in the store. The peps, bacon, and sausage were beef, the beef was beef (perhaps unsurprisingly), and the ham was actually some kind of turkey they transmogrified into ham but it was surprisingly not bad. Could it just have been beef bacon? They’re pretty similar, tbh the difference bt beef and pork bacon is exactly what you’d think, the beef is just a little more cow-ey.

You would still have the same age, gender, personality, skin color, etc. and you would be able to speak at least one local language and would know basic information of the era and place. Your family, social standing, and such would be randomly picked.

It’s the only option I know but thankfully it is easy as piss. Just figure out your key to enter bios (usually ESC or f12, you may need to try the Fn key and f12 for obvious reasons), restart and enter the bios, slide around until you find the option, select, change, F10 to save and exit and you’re good. May even want to set a bios password while you’re in there, why not? Should take like 10-15min.

It comes preinstalled on most computers people buy. Tbh that is mostly the reason.

It’s like if you bought a house and it came with a full closet of “good enough for you” suits and instead of going out and buying comfy clothes you just use the suits provided, especially because you know how to wear suits and haven’t yet figured out how to wear hoodies which look “harder” (ok the analogy is falling apart but ykwim).

I don’t use sync but it has an option for “cloud sync” in the settings, “gpodder.net” and “gpoddersync” seem to be the only two options but maybe one of those will work.

Some people associate rice with Asians (which tbh to me feels sketchy in and of itself, but I digress) because they don’t know it’s an acronym (Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancement) that is used as a perjorative against cars, regardless of race of driver or manufacterer of car, for “car with only cosmetic mods because it looks cool but no performance mods.”

Well the thing is I’ve only ever heard “Rice Burner” in Vietnam movies, never in reference to a car or linux. I think they’re separate terms. I’ve always heard “Ricer” or “Rice Rocket” for cars, and like I said I have heard people use it racistly (I know that isn’t a word but it is now because I said it) but I judge the individual, as I’m fairly certain the acronym is the correct origin.

I’m not one of those “you can never trust wikipedia” people, but they do sometimes get stuff wrong and this might be one.

The time I saw them live about 12yr ago there was like 11 people in the crowd, they toured with Devourment, me and one friend started a two person circle pit just us running in circles since the venue was empty, and the singer of cattle decap kept hocking loogies into the air and catching them back in his mouth, and one time he didn’t catch it and it landed right in one dudes dreads and they literally just spiderman meme pointed at each other while he kept singing. Tbh I agree, but not like that. Self-censorship is useful in the sense of a larger vocabulary or unique or silly insults, or slang/code like Jive, but to use a word and still censor that word is preposterous. Just use a differen’t word you turkey! Don’t just say “d!ck” for “dick,” say “weiner,” it’s more funny anyway.

This little trick bypasses windows passwords btw, booted puppy on my disused win10 machine a while back and mounted my drive without needing my “unlock windows” pin. Used it to rescue files because that win10 install won’t pass that pin screen anymore, just input the pin and then black screen forever like it can’t load.

I think so, but from what I hear it is pretty stable, enough to use. I’d keep backups of important files, but I do that anyway. I use the Branched release myself, but an aquaintance of mine uses rawhide.

Thinkpads RE: Repairability/upgradability

I need to upgrade my laptop and one of the things I’m looking for is repairability/upgradability. I’ve been told thinkpads are good in this respect, how true is that? In terms of replacing batteries and memory, at least. I’m also looking at the frameworks, but those black friday deals are looking alright at lenovo....
