My SO wants like 4 kids and I want 0. I think 1 will suffice because I also don’t want to be poor. I have a lot of expensive wants that I’d like to obtain before the country implodes.
I have 500gb SSD and need to basically uninstall Elden Ring and Dark Souls 3 to install Baldur’s Gate 3. I want to buy new SSD, but my money is a bit tight right now as I’m saving for my degree’s tuition fee....
Raid 0 on 3x500GB triples your failure rate (especially important on older drives, as I presume these are), and still won’t get anywhere near an SSD in speed.
You could just mount the 3 drives separately and have storage that way, which means if one fails you’ve still got the data on the other two… it’d still suck but not as bad as losing everything.
If it was me I’d wait until I could afford the SSD… it’ll be many times faster and newer.
My laptop seems very finicky with linux and enjoys periodically freezing. Some distributions are more stable than others and I’d like to keep testing other distributions without reinstalling/ downloading/transferring all my apps and steam games constantly....
pages like this also suggest things like updating the BIOS and the graphics card firmware with some AMD tool. And I’ve read several times you should try the kernel parameter amdgpu.runpm=0
Make sure to do all of that first. And observe if the freezes happen in certain circumstances. Maybe you can deduct something from that. Maybe it happens while gaming (GPU). Or when under load. Or if you move it around (loose connection), or when hot or after a certain time even if idle. Disable power management and see if that helps. Should be less effort than installing 5 operating systems. (If the crash isn’t super rare) And try using the magic SysReq keys to force linux to sync and reboot to see if the kernel is still alive somehow.
I found out recently that those percentages actually mean 80% of the local AREA would have rain and 20% would not. Meaning if there is a chance of rain in your town at all it’s likely raining somewhere even if it’s just a tiny drop or two.
So if you don’t want to get wet at all bring an umbrella if the chance is over 0%.

Seeing that they need quite a lot of clean water, which is not widely available everywhere during the entire year in big amounts, especially with these droughts due to climate change.
With Three Mile Island everything that could go wrong did and it still wound up being an overblown non-issue. There have been exactly 0 environmental or health impacts due to Three Mile Island despite it being the worst nuclear disaster in US history.
Fukushima was built in a stupid location. How about we don’t build nuclear power plants on fault lines in tsunami prone areas. Literally 4 different fault lines converge on Japan, it is not a place anyone should be building nuclear power plants.
Tow classics in our round of 5 players on Saturday night:
5-minute Dungeon: Utter chaos. But extremely cathartic with 5 lads who just watched their favorite football club lose 4:0.
Ticket to Ride: Europe: A classic. We’ve played it before with 4 out of the 5 players attending and had a lot of fun. But it was completely the wrong game for the occasion this time. I guess reading the room/group is an important part of picking the right game.
I posted this because it’s still an issue I run into nowadays. And I know what you’re most likely thinking. ‘Well, you must be playing with greenbeards.’ Surprisingly, it’s mostly players that are ranked 30 - 50, that don’t seem to remember or care to use the flare gun, when it seems fitting. If I had to chuck it all up, I would say that greenbeards (ranked 0 -20) make up about 7% of the players that I play with, within a given week. They get a pass as they are still learning the game. Miners (ranked 21 - 40) seem to make up about 20% of players I play with, within a given week. They are experienced but still make a few/several greenbeard errors from time to time. They for whatever reason(s), seem to forget to use their specialty guns. Dwarf (ranked 41 - 60) They tend to make up about 15% of players I play with, within a given week. They know their shit pretty well. They are just working on mastery for the most part. And surprising to me, they seem to have the most people not using their flair gun to light up big areas until several minutes after we have walked around. Or they don’t keep a few light sources going while we are in the area.
It’s just weird to me to experience it this often, that I’ve gotten into a habit of asking nicely for light from a scout, after a few minutes of being in a big area.
Say more about this? I’ve seen a few good pieces about acting compensation over the years, but nowhere near as many as I’d have liked.
How much did you get paid, assuming it’s not hypothetical? What do panel and reality shows pay? I assume residuals are $0, but I know nothing. What’s the real story here?

We should probably have our posts self-upvoted by default anyway, like on reddit and lemmy.
Well, Lemmy doesn't either. It pretends to exactly so you don't (I assume that's the reasoning). It doesn't actually add an upvote in your name and so it's also not counted as upvoted by you by other platforms. I can only guess it's trying to prevent people from adding an upvote by making them think the platform already did it for them.
Just check Lemmy posts on kbin (considering voting is public). How many of them have the creator as one of the upvoters? New posts with 1 upvote on Lemmy have 0 on kbin.
Discovered this a few weeks ago while testing some federation stuff.
Private companies aren’t bound to make profit. I purposefully tanked my companies profit to literally 0 during the pandemic so I could keep my employee on at full wage while only open half time. A private company can make profit for shareholders, but it doesn’t have to. It can do whatever the shareholders want it to do, within the boundaries of the law.
