I'm in at least a dozen of them, sometimes I start to talk with people there, but usually I don't. I need to be somehow reintroduced to online socialization, as after all my old circles either massively transformed or fell apart due to tankie infiltration, I even forgot that, and I'm quite autistic to begin with.

With Meta beginning to test federation, there's a lot of discussion as to whether we should preemptively defederate with Threads. I made a post about the question, and it seems that opinions differ a lot among people on Kbin. There were a lot of arguments for and against regarding ads, privacy, and content quality, but I don't...

I have already done my part on my Mastodon account.

My main concern is the awful moderation of Meta's services. Bullying, celebration of loss of rights and violence committed towards of protected minorities; and outright misinformation are allowed. All while the very same people duped the moderation AI to flag any criticism of said hate speech as the real hate speech because false reportings. Facebook, instagram, etc. are notorious for letting big far-right accounts get away with hate speech and defamation, and I don't really think it'll be different on Threads for very long.

EDIT: In the meanwhile, I remembered screenshots of showing this exact moderation problem already happening on Threads, but to a way lesser degree, than on Facebook so far. Maybe this will make them getting booted from even the instances that didn't originally plan to defederate them.

Some alternative to Lua, or at least the mainline Lua release? (kbin.social)

I'm having a lot of trouble with the lack of documentation (I had to dig and poke around for days to get it working not from the files directly, only for it to stop working again in the same way, all while still having the fix for it), and the lack of an incentive from some of its other users in the D community to make anything...

Basically this was the last moment for Poland before PiS would have started to massively fuck it up, to a state similar of Hungary's or Russia's. Neither state could be unfucked without either an armed uprising or some major foreign intervention, and the latter often goes for the worst. Hungary got Fidesz with a lot of help from the GOP.

If someone wants to help to unfuck Hungary: Russia supposedly has some compromising information in Viktor Orbán and a lot of his close associates, the most likely one is him (or some close associate) being photographed or being recorded on video receiving a case full of money right before the 1998 election, from the Russian Mafia. Other likely stuff would be him (or some close associate) giving the money to the Russian Mafia for some "favors", him beating his family, etc. While these are urban legends, it would be a shame for him if someone managed to leak them out into the public. Maybe even the GOP has some. Or maybe just hacking their trollfarm server would do wonders, which likely has dozens of security holes from it mostly employing Hungarian pensioners, who have the usual pensioner issues regarding security.

  1. I already had issues with Reddit long before the API drama, due to spam, etc. However when the API drama dropped, I almost 100% switched to kbin, save for the rare occasion I found some useful info on Reddit, with the occasional tumbling into some other interesting threads.
  2. I post more often to Mastodon, slowly leaving Twitter too, I just need to convince my fellow authors to do so, to give me even less reason to use it. I however decided to limit posting updates of my game engine to Twitter, and instead use the main account now dedicated for it ( @PixelPerfectEngine )
  3. I haven't heard of Matrix, I'll look up it. I don't have any major gripes with Discord so far.
  4. Peertube is fine and dandy, however it's even less adapted than other Fediverse platforms, all while YouTube would be mostly fine IF IT DIDN'T ACTIVELY TRIED TO SABOTAGE MY FIREFOX! I EVEN PAY FOR PREMIUM AND MEMBERSHIPS!

I don't really use any other save for following a bunch of Misskey accounts with my Mastodon. However, I was thinking on creating a federated game launcher/gaming-focused social network similar to Steam. Some parts of it would use ActivityPub (especially public stuff like achievements), others XMPP or something similar. Issues are the question of a copy protection system, and an anti-cheat system. Banning pirated copies of the game from official networks is probably easy even with open source tools, and likely not so controversial. Anything more than that would require more complicated setups, such as a lot of proprietary stuff, not to mention are very controversial, especially with gamers. Anti-cheat systems are also a though issue, likely being the responsibility of the developer, and also there' a lot of controversy with them with kernel-level anti-cheat systems.

It was an unpopular opinion back then, as Jobbik was a literal Islamophile party, because killing LGBT people and death penalty to robbers, but nowadays it's a popular sentiment among fascist pretending to be "moderates" by calling themselves "conservatives". Even Jobbik isn't that radical anymore, especially compared to both Fidesz (which stole their racist and homophobic ideas, but watered them down) and Mi Hazánk (formed by ex-Jobbik members, has suspicious ties to Fidesz).

No, it's mostly a different thing.

VTuber means Virtual YouTuber. However, some VTubers are like that. The best among them are like Suris, who makes commentary videos on politics, religion, etc. And then there's those, who just watch a selection of YouTube, TikTok, etc. videos for funzies, with VShojo (a VTuber talent agency) being a bit infamous for that.

A lot of creators are thinking like that unfortunately. A lot of leftist YouTubers instead are banking on BlueSky rather than the Fediverse, to the point they sometimes hold giveaways for BlueSky invites, which wouldn't be a bad thing, if they did mention Mastodon, etc.
