The 64-year-old businessman also told Real Sports that he has gone to rehab for addiction 15 times

I believe him when he says his hip surgery is the reason he failed the sobriety test. After 15 rehabs, he surely never operated a vehicle while intoxicated. That would defy all odds.

Well?? Why??? :)

Viking_Hippie,

I’m still wondering. Maybe it’s one of those mysteries that mankind will never solve.

Who even asked them?

Viking_Hippie,

The Republican minority of the commission, probably.

luthis, in It's true: People do poop in ride lines at Disneyland and Disney World

Is it even worth going to Disneyland? It just sounds like an 8 hour day of waiting in line for 7.5 hours and 30 minutes of ride.

fossilesque,
@fossilesque@mander.xyz avatar

I dunno, but it smells like shit.

funnystuff97,

If you go during non-peak days and have a general game plan, it’s not that bad. You can get a good amount of ride time going if you time your Fastpasses (they’re free) good enough.

The pricetag, though, that’s on you to decide. I like going, but I wouldn’t go more than, like, once… a decade.

moistclump,

How much is it? For the lazy. Like me.

93maddie94,

It’s a little over $100 a ticket. I also don’t think fast pass is free anymore.

XbSuper,

Once was enough for a lifetime for me. I enjoyed it, but it wasn’t really that much better than most amusement parks, and certainly not worth the price to go back. I can say I’ve been, and that’s enough for me.

200ok,

Disney was a childhood fantasy. Maybe my Innocence is preserved by never having gone.

Now I’m old, don’t like people, and have zero-tolerance for anything with a queue/poop.

luthis,

This sounds like a good solution. It will always be a magical place for me this way.

Kolanaki,
@Kolanaki@yiffit.net avatar

My family used to go every year when I was growing up, and it just progressively got worse. I can’t imagine how awful an experience it is now in 2023.

It wasn’t nearly as crowded in the years before Fast Pass or whatever the fuck they call it now. It was bearable when Fast Pass was new. But eventually everyone was getting Fast Pass, which defeated the point of it.

limelight79,

I believe Disney shot themselves in the foot with Fastpass. It turned the parks from something you experience and explore, into a checklist and schedule.

The_v,

It’s 7.5 hours of shopping for Disney merchandise with 30 minutes of rides.

SatanicNotMessianic,

Okay, I’ve never been to Disneyland, but I’ve been to Disney World many, many times, and I’ve been to many other theme parks around the US.

It’s sometimes a bit of a crapshoot, but obviously if you go off-season, opening (of the season) day, or weekdays vs weekends, there will be shorter lines. I’ve been to days at Busch Gardens and Six Flags where there were zero lines and the operators would just let you stay on the ride as many times as you wanted. I’ve also been in the “let’s get grandma a wheelchair so we can go to the front of the line for Small, Small World.”

It’s really just whatever floats the collective boats of the folks you’d be bringing. I do have to say, though, that being a little day drunk or a bit stoned at Disney or Universal is amazing but the lines will potentially take much, much longer.

AI_toothbrush,

We went to universal studios singapore and stood i a line for hours for a 10 minute ride. It was the best fucking rollercoaster in my life but it wasnt worth it.

I cannot be disappointed when it finally releases, only pleasantly surprised.

Serinus,

They also use a bunch of other names for smaller groups that are really part of Xenos. They know the reputation follows them.

bus_go_fast,

It must be so easy to con right wing religious fanatics.

Serinus, (edited )

Their tactics are pretty good and could get a lot of people, really. They do what’s called “love bombing”. One of them will befriend you, and invite you somewhere. You won’t realize you’re being targeted for recruitment. For that outing, the goal of nearly everyone there will be to make sure YOU are having a good time and feel accepted.

They’ll try to draw you in deeper, maybe try to get you to go to a Bible study (even if you aren’t religious.) If you have other friends, they’ll either try to draw them in with you, or they’ll do what they can to distance you from them. Even something as simple as hearing you have plans and then inviting you somewhere else on that day.

Eventually they’ll push a little harder on trying to get you to conform. If that goes well, they’ll try to get you to move in. At that point it’s a lot harder to extract yourself. They’ll try to keep you so busy with activities that you don’t have time for anything else.

During all this, they’ll try to get you to share personal things. It’s okay to talk about your sins, that’s how you get past them.

Past that point, if you try to extract they’ll start to use those things against you. Did you tell them about child abuse or pictures or something about a boyfriend/girlfriend? As discouragement from dissidence, they’ll hold meetings where they discuss those things as a topic. They have spyware on your phone at this point, so they may share anything embarrassing there they can find. They’ll threaten to tell your parents all the sins you’ve admitted.

It’s pretty insidious.

bus_go_fast,

How could anyone be so evil. That’s fucking crazy.

Janoose, (edited ) in Mike Johnson Admits He and His Son Monitor Each Other's Porn Intake in Resurfaced Video
@Janoose@kbin.social avatar

I get that lots of jokes are to be made about the porn part but what really should be concerning everyone is that the current Speaker of the House pays a third party to snoop on every aspect of his phone.

Was he using his personal phone for any of his duties in Congress?

Is he still using this phone with even more potentially secret government information as a member of the Gang of 8?

This is a MASSIVE security risk, who the fuck knows what information this Covenant Eyes “company” is now privy to.

ETA: From a Wired article from Sept 2022: https://www.wired.com/story/covenant-eyes-anti-porn-accountability-monitoring-apps/

"But Covenant Eyes and Accountable2You do much more than just police pornography. When WIRED downloaded, decompiled, and tested Covenant Eyes and Accountable2You, we found that both apps are built to collect, monitor, and report all sorts of innocent behavior. The applications exploited Android’s accessibility permissions to monitor almost everything someone does on their phone. While the accessibility functionalities are meant to help developers build out features that assist people with disabilities, these apps take advantage of such permissions to either capture screenshots of everything actively being viewed on the device or detect the name of apps as they’re being used and record every website visited in the device’s browser."

Emphasis mine. This is exactly what I'm talking about. Dude has this software on every one of his devices and now the Christofascists behind Covenant Eyes and any one willing to hack them, ie foreign governments, has screenshots of everything he is viewing. Massive massive security risk.

cricket98,

What a made up concern lol. He would just use a different phone.

Janoose,
@Janoose@kbin.social avatar

What is your source for this?

Should he? Absolutely, his personal phone with this tracking software should never be anywhere near the Capitol.

Dude doesn’t even have a bank account, show everyone the proof that he’s actually using a different, secure phone. Never assume Republicans are doing what’s secure, there is absolutely no proof that they do.

Kbobabob,

Lol, that would completely defeat the purpose. He absolutely used the same phone.

wildginger,

He would? Or he did?

If he uses a second phone, does that not immediately undermine the point of showing his porn to his son? Since any secret porn his son would tattle to god about he would just watch on the second phone, yes?

This is a pretty massive concern. He keeps US secrets for fucks sake.

VikingHippie,

Oops, my mistake. Good thing we can edit posts!

midniter, in Worst fear confirmed: You can't launch Modern Warfare 3 without first launching Modern Warfare 2

On Steam there is a different entry for MW3, that is waiting to be unlocked for installing on November 10th. It doesn’t make too much sense that this different Steam Store game (with a different game id) will also open MW2’s CoD HQ. I’ll wait and see, maybe there will also be a way to open MW3 directly.

Viking_Hippie,

It doesn’t make too much sense

My point exactly 😄

midniter,

So with the last Steam update, the previous Call of Duty entry in Steam now launches into MW3 directly. To enter Warzone or MW2 multiplayer you will have to wait for it to start the MW2 process. It’s exactly how they did it with the MW3 beta and campaign, just viceversa, so to play MW3 MP and Warzone (starting in December) you won’t have to wait for game switching.
