wildginger,

User opts in? Or instance opts in?

wildginger,

Yes, which as far as I understand functions via an instance federating with another instance, bringing users along with it regardless of input.

I know theres a future version on the way that will let users block out set instances, but since when do users need to pick and choose what instances their instance shows them?

wildginger,

Like cancer cells in your blood stream, the internet has made fascist mindsets easily dumped in little corners throughout the world

wildginger,

Ive seen 2, max.

If this is your current state of twitch, its because you keep clicking on boobi. Quit clicking on boobi if you dont want to be seeing boobi.

wildginger,

Its not even changed, bud, ops tripping

wildginger,

Watch less populous streams.

Streamers with 100-1k viewers are actually able to read and respond to chat, and you will likely get responses to actually engaging chat messages.

wildginger,

Older meme? Twitch rolled back their barely nude positive rule by, like, the next day.

wildginger,

Ive gone actively searching for it and cannot find more than 2 at any given moment besides that one dude with the naruto pfp who is just autoplaying youtube twerk videos.

And one of them who frequently does the topless cutoff videos has already needed to up the ante by having 4 girls on screen at once.

Its not that big of a deal. There really isnt much to advertise. And its clearly not doing that well as a strategy to get viewers.

wildginger,

“It has less X than the US has shootings” means almost nothing as a statement. Thats not a metric for if its a problem or not

wildginger,

Thanks to hasbro, wotc prefers blindly scrabbling for profit over any integrity or quality. Both companies are not worth supoorting

wildginger,

I mean, mood, same, but I can print fakes from overseas for $30 per edh deck and scratch the itch with friends. Losing 60 deck comp formats hurts a little, but theres other games that last longer and cost way way less.

But youve seen the trend. MH2 forces format defining cards, which they refuse to ban until everyone buys them. Then, MH3 comes out as a branded LotR set to advertise amazons LotR flop show, new format defining staples are forced in, and then they ban the problem cards from MH2 cause everyone has them now so no one is buying.

You will see this again in a few years with a new advertisement stapled to cards required for competitive play. And it will happen for the rest of the games life.

MtG is now a billboard on your kitchen table, that you pay to put there. And then they fire half the staff.

wildginger,

Do you build cubes? Cause you can do that really easy for really cheap via mpc, and then you can draft with friends for free whenever you like

wildginger,

Thats whats fun about cubes, you cherry pick the 1-10 cards from a set you think are interesting and add them, and ignore the rest.

I know a guy who basically makes jumpstart cubes. Like, modular 1/4th or 1/6th cube pieces, which are set up with the pieces for broadish archetypes plus more niche specifics, which he can mix and match to shape the end result. Its way too big brained for me to grasp, but it seems to work well.

Im not huge into draft, but playing cube with older cards is fun as hell. Its neat seeing busted combo pieces being used how they likely were used when they were printed, rather than what they became 8 sets later.

Ugh. What a dumb game lol

wildginger,

Considering the massive push across multiple lemmy instances to completely remove downvotes, leaving a comment is actually becoming the only way to state you dont like or want specific content on a sub.

The fediverse actively disagrees with you on how to filter content quality.

wildginger,

I have yet to see anyone say starfield does better than no mans sky.

Most people started playing no mans sky because of starfield, usually.

Youre the first Ive seen who would suggest the opposite

wildginger,

Oh, heavily heavily heavily disagree. The fediverse is going to fall apart if it commits to getting rid of votes, because the website it is copying all of its formatting from was explicitly designed to self filter community content with votes.

Not being able to filter content without detailing expressly why will fill the site with garbage, because few people have the free time to waste commenting on every post, but quickly saying “yes this belongs here / no it does not” is much easier and doable while browsing.

Votes also help communities self moderate, a problem front and center on lemmy with the current situation of abysmal mod tools and worse average mod quality than reddit had. (No offense to passing mods.)

But the fediverse seems dedicated to learning this lesson the hard way, so we either need to hold on and hope the ship doesnt sink or start swimming to a better boat.

wildginger,

I dont really agree that you need to explain what was wrong with the content. And brigading happens with comments too, arguably to a worse end.

Explaining every vote you make, or requiring a yes vote before you allow a no vote, also defeats the purpose of voting at all. I get it can feel bad to have a comment downvoted but… Like… Its really not a big deal. Especially in a system that has even less weight on karma. Sometimes the group didnt agree with you, and thats a normal part of community interactions. You shrug and move on.

wildginger, (edited )

Comments do the same thing, by drowning the one opinion in a sea of alternate opinions, and is directly incentivizing only interaction via people with the time to type up a comment. You arent preventing brigades, you are reducing the number of users who arent capable of attempting to brigade at all.

Especially since your version of brigading is literally how communities work. If the group doesnt agree with an opinion, even opinions you do agree with, the opinion is going to be drowned out. You cannot police “opinion quality.” Because such a subjective thing is good when it agrees with you and bad when it doesnt.

Good luck and I look forward to seeing it, but to be frank it sounds like you want to build a personal group chat, not a social media site. And like any web of trust, it relies on the integrity of the central member. Which isnt a defense against brigading, just a defense against brigading that doesnt come from the central member or their points of trust.

E: mind, not that theres anything wrong with crafting your own supported super chat. Just that its less social media, and more a hyper evolved chat among friends and friend-of-friends

wildginger,

Charity scams that need to be audited for a potential decade of illicit behavior are not “youtube drama” just because a youtuber was involved

wildginger,

I mean, the charity is getting audited for holding onto donations for 10 years. I think thats kinda a big deal regardless of if criminal charges happen

wildginger,

Its kinda funny to criticize someone for supposed preemptive action by yourself making a preemptive action.

wildginger, (edited )

Fully applies here, because the legal documents that the charity has posted for the past decade are more than the ample amount of evidence to drop jirard like a hot stone.

Jirard claims the reason why he lied for a decade about donating the money instead of hoarding it like a dragon is sheer incompetence. Many people think that is a lie, and its actually a long con he was in on the while time.

But regardless of if he was actively evil or just horridly incompetent with the money of hundreds of thousands of trusting fans, both explanations are full reasons to cut contact with him on a business and personal level.

What company wants jirard the “10 year long charity fumbler” completionist as a partner? Who would intentionally advertise that they work with either the charity scammer or the guy who didnt realize his charity wasnt a charity for a decade?

So a completely rational business cuts ties with a bad business partner. And you respond by misreading an internet comment, and taking the game out of your wishlist.

wildginger,

Yes, and so was the removal of jirard from sea of stars. Reacting to the knowledge that jirard mishandled his charity. Thats why it was funny. Because you mislabeled what they did while doing the same thing they did.

Im sorry, I didnt think that part needed spelling out.

wildginger,

… Yes, which is why it was funny. You mislabeled their reactive comments as preemptive when they werent, while doing the same thing they did while calling it reactive.

Pumpkin, do I need to draw you pictures? Ive explained this for you 3 times.

wildginger,

I get if they dont want an homage character to become a biting satire of a former business partner. Especially if they dont want someone to not get the bit, and think less of the game for having a known scammer cameo in it

Not that its really even their fault, seeing as this came out before the charity mess did

wildginger,

Summarizing what you said isnt putting words in your mouth.

You need to understand that quotation marks are used around speech summations, as well as direct quotations.

It makes you look foolish, to keep pointing at a proverbial windmill and scream about the giant on the hilltop.

wildginger,

Adding an edit hours after my comment is cute, but adding an edit where you detail misunderstanding my first comment is adorable.

wildginger, (edited )

Damn, learning what a summary is fuckin cut you to your core, huh boo boo bear?

You wanna try flailing blindly again? You might land one

The sneak edit is cute, but you realize both of these convos are in the same thread, right? Like, I just scrolled down a bit?

I could also razz you on your defense of a creepy pedo pest if you want, but you kinda got dragged through the mud so I figured that was covered

wildginger,

Jesus, you care about votes on lemmy? Im sorry to hear that bud

Ive repeated myself so many different ways for you, to help you grok the sentence everyone else got the first time. Its very cute you think the same concept reworded for you in different ways is what lying is.

Are you this big a dickrider for jirard? Or did I accidentally step on an insecurity of yours? If I did I promise it wasnt on purpose

wildginger,

You dont care about some immoral and possibly illegal activity done with charity money by a very big internet personality, because one other internet personality might talk about it with clickbait?

wildginger,

… Yes, because a well respected youtuber running a scam behind a massive charity and then repeatedly lying about it in stages after being caught is dramatic. This event is the very definition of drama. In fact, it may even be a crime.

I guess if you dont ever watch his stuff, give him money, or donate to charity ever, sure no one gives a shit if you dont care. But this is a pretty big deal that the community who funds both his scam and his channels need to know.

wildginger,

If seeing a mild clickbait thumbnail really has you breaking down like this, I honestly feel you just want to make drama about this youtuber, not that youre actually upset about anything.

Because thats such a nothing burger of a problem to have with someone talking about a multi year long scamming operation from a respected semi celebrity’s charity organization.

wildginger,

“Man I get its a decade long crime spree, but its so hard to care after I found out Matt Lauer reported on it” is a little bit crying, bud

wildginger,

Saying that no matter what jirard does or how bad things get, its hard for you to care because there was a clickbait thumbnail about it is more than an “ugh” but you seem in love with that shovel so Ill let you keep diggin

wildginger,

Sure, read this thread. Op accused of being a secret nazi plant, multiple people defending doxxing, screenshots of your discord doing the same, someone calling me a troll for having this understanding of this instance while actively defending doxxing in the comments calling me a liar and troll for saying this is a pro doxx space, and me, an outsider, being surprised that this wasnt a common understanding within your community.

I think thats a fairly good sample size, no? You guys wrote most of this thread.

wildginger,

Are you asking me to make a post in another instance, asking for people to come here and vouch for me? Because thats entirely inappropriate.

And I cant exactly search lemmy in any successful way to find likely months old comment chains. Even if the search function wasnt borked, I dont memorize every post title and convo chain Ive read per instance.

Thats an insanely unreasonable ask, especially given the direct proof of pro doxx mentality this post already shows.

wildginger, (edited )

Didnt you? What other proof would you be asking for?

And what fear? Are you responding to the right comment?

E: unless youre playing the “technically, I didnt ask the question, I just responded directly supporting it” but if thats your game you know thats nonsense

wildginger,

This entire post is full of heavily upvoted defenses of doxxing, including from some of the people telling me the same thing you are saying while actively defending doxxing.

But since direct proof going on around you “”“doesnt count,”“” of course I wouldnt be able to find anything that would be enough proof for you. You have made it clear this wasnt about proof, its about blindly defending your in group.

Im glad you did loads of research before settling down. I guess that makes the (very valid) doxxing reputation that your communities actions here have reinforced magically turn to dust? But your “research” clearly couldnt have been wrong, so this post and everyone in it must be a hallucination of mine.

wildginger,

The thread a different person made, bringing up a concerning trend they dont like seeing here?

That was in the All tab, like every other post made on lemmy?

What point do you even think youre making?

E: nvm stalker, blocked

wildginger,

I already have multiple beehaw users following me and harassing me. Including “brand new” accounts from other instances. Youve made your point, fuck you and your little club. Im blocking the instance before one of you follows through with the threats.

wildginger,

Nah. The US just doesnt want to lose the strategic advantage of israel as an ally.

Thats literally all it is. A spot on the game board is more valuable than human lives.

wildginger,

You mean, besides the fact that your kids are your responsibility, and not everyone elses?

Or beyond the fact that netflix has the same level of softcore content, and HBO has far far far worse sexual and non sexual content?

Do I need more reasons beyond those?

wildginger,

If you need the government to pick what your kids are able to watch, you shouldnt have kids mate

wildginger,

So you think HBO should be an adult only space? With stricter regulations?

wildginger,

Answer the question mate.

Do you believe HBO should be labeled and treated as an adult only site or app due to the content it provides?

wildginger,

You dropped a run on sentence about regulating the entire internet. My question had nothing to do with the internet at large.

Is HBO content adult only or not?

We both know youre hiding from the question because you want to have your cake and eat it too.

wildginger,

That has fuckall to do with my question.

Can you read?

wildginger,

Ill be trying these when I get home, thank you!
