shiveyarbles,

I’m going to need a black marker

YexingTudou,

This project is already going over budget, but I’ll look into securing marker funding

A direct clone of the Switch JoyCon that works seamlessly on PC and PS5.

A version of the ASUS ROG Flow that is about 20% lighter and has about 50% better battery life when not in dGPU mode.

A version of the MiSTer and/or Analogue Pocket with RetroAchievements support.

Yeah, I'm a weird gamer.

I can't imagine wanting joycons over an xbox controller for my console/controller gaming but I guess someone was bound to love the joycons lol

MudMan,
@MudMan@kbin.social avatar

Well, your wrists don't try to murder you if you keep them bent at an angle for too long, I suppose. Human hands are different, and mine really like having two separate controllers instead of holding just one thing.

But also, the JoyCons are pretty awesome, I find the separate button d-pad very reliable and I don't have a problem with the size at all, so even if they weren't healthier for me I'd love to have a set that works natively on PC.

Hey man no judgment haha

You should try getting into VR gaming!

MudMan,
@MudMan@kbin.social avatar

I have multiple HMDs and controllers. The original Vive controllers are maybe the least ergonomic thing I own, and the current standard does not feature a full array of face buttons.

Plus, obviously, they don't work on flatscreen games. So yeah, no, the JoyCon is still the best controller out there right now, VR knuckles included.

GalaxyGamer, (edited )

You can use the Joycons with a PC using One of these

MudMan,
@MudMan@kbin.social avatar

Wait, how does that work? 8bitDo's dongles are very confusing in terms of which one goes with what, but none of the ones I have, either standalone or bundled with a controller, seem to have a mode on PC to pair two joycon to a single controller.

GalaxyGamer,

Apparently you can’t with the 8bitdo adapter (sorry made last post while half asleep) meant to link the mayflash NS2 which actually can pair both joycons

will link that here and change previous link in case someone comes across it later

MudMan,
@MudMan@kbin.social avatar

Hm. I have the NS1 and that did an OK job using my fight sticks on Switch, but I don't think it did dual JoyCon on PC. The store page doesn't mention that explicitly either.

I may give it a look, but if you have video evidence, a review, a tutorial or something I'd appreciate that.

GalaxyGamer,

Looks like this shows it working with both joycons on a miniature laptop on the ns1 youtube.com/watch?v=aJU606gw-NM&pp=ygUVbWFnaW…

From the comments under the video these look to be the instructions to pairing both joycons to it

HERE IS WHAT YOU ACTUALLY DO:

1: Go to the Green mode.

2:Press the button once or twice untill the green led on the mayflash blinks really fast.

3:Hold the power button and the “hidden bumper thingy button” that is FURTHEST away from the controller until the controller either stops blinking or resets the lights. Do this for the one of the two controllers.

4:Repeat step 2 and 3 for the other controller (as in press the mayflash button until it blinks really fast), you will notice that the paired controller has shutdown and you can now do 3 to pair the other controller.

5:Press the mayflash button 2 times again so that it goes into fast blinking ( now all controllers have shutdown ).

6:While blinking press the power button on the LEFT joycon. Wait for it to pair with a solid green LED.

7:The mayflash must be now solid green and the left joycon too with the right NOT connected. GOOD … just press the mayflash button again so that it goes into SLOW BLINK and when it does hit any button on the RIGHT joycon AND IT WILL PAIR AT THE SAME TIME AS THE LEFT. CONGRATS

@MudMan@kbin.social avatar

Well, I'd say I'm bummed out that I didn't figure out this was an option before, but I'm pretty sure those are the instructions to reach the Holy Grial as well, so maybe it's reasonable.

I'll give it a try if I can remember where I stashed that thing.

pr0927,

Something extremely modular and upgradable like the Framework, but with a 4K 120Hz HDR OLED display, that can fold back into 2-in-1 mode and that has connectivity for full bandwidth of an external GPU. Additionally, some way to connect to up to 3 displays at full 48Gbps HDMI 2.1 bandwidth (each) - at least - DP 2.1 would be even better. Maybe via multiple display outputs or some insanely-high-bandwidth port like Thunderbolt 5 for dock connectivity.

The intent is to basically have a tablet-to-laptop-to-desktop experience, with virtually no compromises.

shaggy,

A single remote that turns on my PC and TV

MudMan,
@MudMan@kbin.social avatar

Oh, forget the remote, if the stupid device connection systems between consoles and TVs managed to not do the exact opposite thing to what you want 95% of the time I'd take it.

Although robust HDR support on Windows would also do it for me.

Bishma,
@Bishma@discuss.tchncs.de avatar

I have that. It also controls my lights, thermostat, and cameras.

It doesn’t turn on my PC but it turns off the outlet its plugged into. And it could turn it on with something like “wake on lan”

utopiah,

WebThings (or Home Assitant) with Zigbee plugs and Zigbee (or BT or WiFi, whatever) button remote, it exists. Otherwise can use your phone to control those too.

Weirdfish,

I want a small snowboard, like 121 cm, similar to the old rossignol mini, but wide enough for my big ass feet.

I rode the mini for years with my feet pointed outward over 45 degrees and ended up doing a lot of damage to my knees.

I pretty much only snowboard in the midwest US, and want something that feels more like a skateboard.

Alph4d0g,

An iPad pro that has multiple thunderbolt ports and connect to a 4/5k monitor in clamshell mode. I dare you, Apple.

Pok,

I’m struggling to understand. I’m imagining an Apple Surface, is that what you are thinking?

Alph4d0g,

I guess that might be right. As of today, the iPad Pro is basically a laptop when attached to the magic keyboard. It only has a single thunderbolt port but can connect to an external display with caveats. Apple scuppers the experience by forcing you to have the iPad display open when connected to the monitor. I’m essentially looking for an experience like Samsung Dex where I get a desktop experience when docked - but a portable experience when on the go. I’m sure they could easily do this but choose not to in order too avoid eating into MacBook sales.

RizzRustbolt,

Rocket car that goes through solid matter.

OmnislashIsACloudApp,

basically a better newer Kinect for my kids. something that’d let them dance or play or see themselves in the game without a controller
