Wow Reddit can openly and unapologetically shit on their community and they continue to support the site. All of the “fuck spez” content is gone, and they’re doing exactly what Reddit wanted in the first place, keeping it corporate and advertiser friendly. What a sad community that can’t even defend themselves, this is why the state of things are getting so much worse.
There were plenty videos posted showing that reddit admins were using some tool that was just putting random patterns over it (they didn't even bother to make it look real, so it appeared all at once)
People who are engaging with it as a form a protest are just dumb. Reddit has full control over it so they can remove anything they don't like instantly.
It’s not a dark personality to misinterpret things. It’s just a poor grasp of the finer aspects of communication.
For instance, Kathy Griffin made a controversial video holding a bloodied severed head of Trump, who was the US president at the time. That rightfully received a lot of backlash for being in poor taste. Making death threats against the president of the United States in a serious crime, however she was not arrested because it was correctly not seen as a threat by the law enforcement.
I’m with you. Imagine if everyone decided to draw gore there, regardless if it had anything to do with spez, it’s just kind of inappropriate and feels really childish, in my opinion.
Not gore itself, but the choice to draw it on a public canvas out of prettyness. Did someone ruin your favorite internet spot? Well boohoo… It was free and you’re entitled to lose it just like any service. Get over it.
And by all means go ahead and downvote this comment, doing that just proves Lemmy is headed for a similar future of hive mind culture.
Please please prioritize Empress releases that usually work on Linux and on Windows, and a Windows user would not see the slightest difference.
I mean, if you go to Steamrip and download FH6 for SOME REASON it doesn’t run on Linux but on Windows, but if you download FH6 directly from the Empress Telegraph it works on both Linux and Windows, and Windows users don’t notice a difference
I’m not in the Empress telegram. Where can I find her releases? I genuinely haven’t seen them much, and I mostly play old and/or indie titles because of lower resource usage.
PSA, FitGirl and Dodi setups do fail during installations on Proton and Lutris Wine, but if you were to run them using vanilla Wine they (generally) work perfectly. Just open a terminal in the downloaded folder and enter wine ./setup.exe. Just make sure you set the correct installation folder (e.g. Z:/home/username/games)
Update: the latest FitGirl setup for Cyberpunk 2077 didn’t work on either
Yeah but people want to click the point on the canvas to interact with it. Its possible it just needs to be the authority on pixel placing to keep track of whose on cooldown and such.
Having r/place be more than a one-time event is dumb enough already especially now that streamers are trying to capitalize off of it as well.
It's always same shit different day as long as people can't find other things that represent their country and interests other than flags and the logo of whatever they're interested in.
Not that I would want that, now after all that happened. Maybe a boring non-variant r/place is the best we can do aside of writing fuck spez on everything that lets us?
Would love to see more nudity and profane messages though since they would NEVER be able to use that to advertise Reddit.
Last time was way more detailed. It was sprawling with mass participation from so many communities that the more you zoomed in and looked, the more cool, creative and diverse stuff you'd find.
This time looks like a completely bare bones shell of the handful of communities that even thought it was worth spending time on. It's not even close to the same glorious effort that it was before.
Fu** spez is such a useless protest. Best way to protest is to show people there are alternatives. I wish the Germans change their message to something like join feddit.de
We’ve already tried to build a join-lemmy.org banner and almost done. We made allies with some communities, but the bigger ones are too hard to reach out.
There is a Matrix coordination chat, join here to help us: matrix.to/#/
It would be great some kind of sticker or banner by release that says “Steam Deck/Linux verified”, maybe the users themselves are the ones who comment if it is compatible or not and the banner is added.
Lemmy.ml has a slur filter and b!tch is on there. Not only is it a slur folter but it's apparently the kind of implementation that people always use as an example of how not to do a filter. If you type something on it we will all see it as "removed". If @DarkGamer says it, you see "removed", I (kbin) see the actual word.
I found some old posts complaining about it and apparently some people trying to write St@rdew were having it come out as "S removed ew". Not sure if that one's still there but I put the symbols in just in case.
Thats pretty much the entire point of this, they stated these are all scene releases. So fitgirl et al etc.
For some masochistic reason they sometimes come rar’d, iso’d, and custom windows based unpacker which is all really unnecessary and creates more points of potential failure for the linux gamer.
LinuzRules releases have linux .sh based unpackers, but even those arent guaranteed to work and can get stuck. I’d much rather just get the complete uncompressed files.
Tl;dr Scene releases use unpackers which often fail and multiple levels of unnecessary compression.
Without exaggeration I have had to download a zipped tar, that contained a rar split into ~100 parts, which contained an iso which contained a custom installer that extracted the compressed game files.
Seems to be overkill.
With an unpacked release I can pick and choose what to download, if it’s on a newer patch level I can just point it at an existing folder and it will just download the difference. And of course I don’t have to jump through the stupid installation hoops.
A note for probably incoming comments: If it is going to repeat itself here, we are forced to disallow such posts at all, to keep c/reddit at least civilized.
